Push-to-talk (PTT) software allows users to turn their devices into instant communication channels akin to walkie talkies. Devices with the downloaded software enable teams to communicate by pressing a single button and speaking into the device. Their message is instantly played on the relevant team member’s device in real time. PTT tools allow teams working in different physical spaces to communicate quickly and effectively without phone calls or text messaging. For this reason, these solutions are popular among teams working in disparate places and specifically in industries such as field sales, construction, and manufacturing.

While some push-to-talk options require specific devices provided by servicers, in recent years most have become software solutions that can be downloaded on any compatible device. Some solutions can only be downloaded on mobile devices as an app, but others can be downloaded on desktops as well.
