Paycom makes payroll super easy. Everything is all right there at the employees fingertips and giving the employee the ability to review everything prior to their pay date is a fantastic feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes you have to ask the same thing a few times. I have found that one representative will tell you something can't be done, but another will tell you that it can. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If everything works as intended, then the system works well. It is designed to be an all-in-one solution that stands alone, and SOMETIMES it is capable of doing so. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Basically everything else is garbage. It is by far the most headache-inducing system I have utilized, with so many moving pieces that it is generally guaranteed that at least one part will break down. Even just onboarding takes far too long and loses us potential employees. As the title also states, do not expect any help for anything that does not generate money for them. I cannot count how many emails and other support requests I have sent out that have been 100% ignored. They also expect YOU to do almost all of the heavy lifting (but pay THEM for the ability to do so).
One time in particular, our Paycom contact made a major mistake that cost us untold thousands of dollars and incredible time wasted at all levels of the company (all the way up the chain), not to mention a lot of lost trust, and all that was offered was an email apology. There was no renumeration or even any attempt to make things correct beyond just fixing his original mistake (after a delay of course). There is no point in using a company when one cannot trust them to do their side correctly, so it just further wastes our own company's time verifying that they have not made more errors (which does happen). The platform is not integrated within itself and this has caused compliance issues related to accurate payroll. Once it was recognized, it took months to resolve and we are still working on getting amended tax documents. Paycom management had to disclose that their platform is not integrated and their support team does not receive basic payroll training to effectively handle client concerns. From the very begining of my search for a payroll company I knew that Paycom was going to be our new payroll company. The sales representative Gillian was knowledgable and interested in helping me with my payroll needs. Once on board, Gillian along with the NCS Specialist Britney made sure that they could delivery everything they promised. I would highly recommend Paycom not only for their product but for their people. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have had nothing but a positive experience with Paycom. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Jasmine made the experience of learning Paycom exceptional. I just started working for ACDS at the beginning of September, and since I started here, Jasmine has made it possible to reach out and ask any questions or concerns I may have. She explained everything clearly and made it easy to understand how wording and organizing documents can make a significant difference for our company. We had a nice lunch together and even set up times in the future when she would come back in person to further explain new vital updates that would help our company. We went over updating records, organizational charts and much more. What helped me the most was updating old documents on Paycom; now, the titles in all our onboarding checklists match. It wasn't a challenging task to do but with Jasmine's assistance; we could be proactive about completing it that day together. Lastly, she even brought in some fun Paycom gear. I have a new water bottle that I use every day, and another staff member got a lunch box bag that they use all the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is nothing at this time that I dislike about Paycom because everything has been explained so well to me. I would like it if all the important dates, such as birthdays, hire dates, and social security numbers were together. Right now, under dates and HR, the social security number is not in that section. When completing additional documentation, I feel it would make the most sense to have these together. Having these actual numbers together would make for an easier experience. I like their reporting - that's about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, I dislike everything about Paycom. We switched from ADP to Paycom in January of 2021 due to wanting a more integrated system and continue to have ongoing issues. For reference, I have worked in Payroll/HR for 10+ years and have worked with other third-party HRIS systems, as well as in-house systems, and Paycom is by far the worse. It's not even the system itself; it's the team working at Paycom. Our issues started with implementation: it was rushed, and training was lacking. We weren't fully trained on half of the modules we purchased and have had to teach ourselves how they operate. Our first issues appeared with Applicant Tracking. We were posting jobs through Paycom, and they weren't showing up on the job boards. We're at the point now where we have to pay additionally to directly post them to Indeed and boost them for some of our locations. I have minor issues with the system itself, such as having to manually update position management vs. it flowing when a change is made, or not being able to know when a direct deposit is returned, and having to wait for Paycom to notify us. But some of the major issues we've experienced (recently) are:
1. Paycom not filing our taxes on time and incurring late fees and interest.
2. Our customer service representative didn't submit a wire transfer request for one of our payrolls, which resulted in almost 400 people not being paid on time and us having to scramble with our bank to get them paid on the afternoon of pay date. Paycom also didn't notify us they wouldn't be paid until EOD the day before pay date.
3. Our W2s for 2021 were incorrect and we were told it would take a week to correct. They then turned around and said it would take 6-10 weeks to correct. When we received the corrected W2s, they were still wrong and we were told they didn't have an ETA on when they would be fixed for the 2nd time.
Here are ongoing issues we've experienced with Paycom that are frustrating compared to other payroll providers:
1. You can never talk to anyone except your client service specialist (if you can get them). I have never once been able to reach my CSS by phone. There are no direct lines, you have to call the main line and ask for your CSS and they are always occupied so you get someone else on the team who has no idea what your issue is about so you have to reexplain your situation.
2. There is no direct access to any other teams in Paycom (i.e. tax team, garnishment team, banking team, etc.) You always have to go through your CSS as the middle man and there is always a back and forth that takes way too much time.
3. Direct deposit returns are a major issue. Paycom doesn't always let you know when direct deposits are returned and we've had to start having our accounting team check our bank account to verify when deposits have been returned so we don't miss paying employees.
4. We just created a spin company off of our parent company and the process was a disaster. Deadlines weren't met, positions weren't created correctly, Applicant Tracking wasn't set up ontime so we were manually having to hire people in the parent company and then transfer to the new company, and we continue to have ongoing issues that we are just having to fix ourselves.
5. There is no accountability with the Paycom team. Don't pay our employees? We are the ones who have to communicate and deal with the fallout. Don't file our taxes correctly? We're the ones who have to communicate with the state. Don't meet a promised deadline? Oh, we are sorry but that's just the way it is. The lack of accountability is appalling considering what we pay monthly for them to be a full-service HRIS system.
6. They don't understand basic payroll principles. I asked our CSS about a tax situation and why it wasn't correct and she told me employees pay tax where they live, not where they work, which is blatantly incorrect and Payroll 101.
Please, please, please do your research before switching to Paycom. Talk to other companies that are in the same industry as you and with the same number of employees you have. Do your due diligence and don't believe everything they tell you, because at the end of the day, they are a business trying to make money. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Having all of our policies and HR information in one location for employees to have easy access has been a game changer. Employees can sign off once they've read the policy and we can verify that the information is available to every employee. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Since the pandemic, it has been a challenge to get someone out to help us with some of the modules we are paying for but not using. We are very happy with all of the modules we are using and are hopeful that before too long, we can get the support necessary to implement the remaining modules. The best thing about Paycom is the ease of payroll processing. Once the initial information is entered the system is a breeze for handling this scheduled task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can find no fault with Paycom, if I ever have any questions my service rep is an email or a phone call away or I can check in with Paycom help and get answers as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
