**What do you like best about Employment Hero?**

I really like that Employment Hero is very user-friendly. One of the best parts is how my staff can see their roster or payslips as soon as they're published, and they can apply for their leave through the app. It’s been a big step forward for now our staff can do these things anywhere and anytime, unlike before when they had to come into our venue. The app and online accessibility are fantastic features we didn't have with our previous software.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

Our staff are unable to use the shift swapping or shift bidding functions because they are using the HR platform & it is only available in the payroll platform,. It would be very useful if it was integrated into both sides of Employment Hero. 
The initial setup required a lot of time to create Excel spreadsheets and input data with all staff details.

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Employment Hero lets us see rosters and payslips online and apply for leave easily, saving us from having to visit the venue physically. It's a big improvement for our staff, providing flexibility to access these anywhere, anytime. 
When calling the support line the staff are always so helpful & endeavour to get our issue sorted as soon as possible.

**What do you like best about Employment Hero?**

Ease of use and the overall functionality look good in theory, but they still don’t feel fully put into practice.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

The workflows are also cumbersome to set up and use, and the guides don’t provide enough detail to make the overall process clear. Permissions are another area that needs better explanation, especially when you’re in setup mode.

Also, if you onboard someone in one month and they don’t start until the following month, you still have to pay for them for both months, even though their system access isn’t available until their start date. This wasn’t explained upfront.

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We’re planning to use EH to automate the processes we currently manage manually. I’m also hoping the platform will deliver strong analytics to help us better understand and track what’s happening.

Employment has a team of support people based in Australia, we are located in the New Zealand, the support to date is vastly inadequate, the chat bot is useless when asking it a question that is more complex on how to set up an employee, almost every question is sends you in circles, suggest you always state human agent and then you get a person.

What I like best about Employment Hero is that it provides a central place to store everything you need for HR and payroll. The payroll settings are incredibly flexible and can be customised in so many ways, allowing you to create workflows that are tailored to the unique requirements of each business.

The reporting capabilities are excellent, and being able to manage multiple entities from a single login makes it especially efficient for businesses with more complex structures.

At first, the system can seem a little daunting because of the number of features available. However, once you understand how each section works, you quickly appreciate how thoughtfully the platform has been designed. It's a powerful, well-structured system that offers a huge amount of functionality while remaining highly adaptable to different business needs.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

The biggest downside is that there is a steep learning curve when you first start using the platform. With so many features and customisation options available, it can feel overwhelming for new users, and it takes time to understand how all the different modules work together.

Employment Hero has streamlined our HR and payroll processes by bringing everything into one platform. Instead of managing employee records, leave, onboarding, payroll, reporting, and compliance across multiple systems, we can manage it all in one place.

The platform's flexibility allows us to configure payroll and workflows to suit the specific needs of each business, which has improved efficiency and reduced manual work. The reporting tools also provide quick access to accurate data, making it easier to monitor payroll, analyse workforce information, and support better business decisions.

The platform lets you use whichever functions suit your needs best. It’s a clear, stylish, and well-considered platform that’s genuinely user-friendly. You can give shout-outs to your teams and add your own values and policies. You can also create forms that can be completed directly through the platform, with no need to download and re-upload anything.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

I’d love a feature where, whenever you click on a colleague’s name, it takes you straight to their profile. That might just be because I use the platform as an admin, so I’m not sure it’s something everyone would need. I also wish they didn’t rely so heavily on the AI chatbot, since it often doesn’t fully understand what I’m asking for or what I need.

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All of our HR processes are much more refined now. All of our policies are stored there, with certifications logged and automatic reminders sent when they’re due to expire. Annual leave is booked through Employment Hero and connected to our Microsoft Calendars, so nothing gets missed, and we’re also gradually introducing TOIL logging there as well. We can give shout-outs to our teams and share other updates on the home page, too.

What I like most about Employment Hero is how user-friendly and efficient the platform is for managing HR and people-related processes. One of the standout features for me is the AI-powered HR assistant. It resolves around 90% of my HR-related questions without the need to contact support, saving a significant amount of time and helping me find answers quickly. Another major strength is Employment Hero's customer support team. They are always easy to communicate with, responsive, and knowledgeable. At times, Employment Hero introduces changes or enhancements to the system, but these are not always obvious to end users. As a result, we sometimes only become aware of a change when an issue arises, a process behaves differently than expected, or we discover the update accidentally while using the platform.

More proactive communication, such as clear notifications, release summaries, or in-platform announcements highlighting how changes may impact existing workflows, would help users adapt more smoothly and reduce confusion. While the platform continues to evolve and improve, greater visibility of upcoming and recently implemented changes would enhance the overall user experience.

Employment Hero has helped us centralize and streamline many of our HR and people management processes, including payroll, onboarding, recruitment, employee record management, and document filing. Having these functions in a single platform reduces administrative workload, minimizes manual data entry, and improves overall efficiency.

The onboarding and recruitment features have been particularly valuable, as they help create a smoother experience for both new hires and hiring managers. Payroll processing is also more efficient, with employee information flowing seamlessly through the system.

One feature I especially appreciate is the reporting functionality. **What do you like best about Employment Hero?**

It's a user friendly interactive platform that is easy to train others to use. Hovering over many headings / comments gives a detailed explanation or overview of what that task can do.
We use both the HR and payroll platforms which makes onboarding employees effortless and using the EH work app allows employees to easily keep their details up to date and apply for leave without the need to be in the office.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

Updates in payroll don't always flow into HR appropriately. 
We have a great deal of custom rules within our payroll system which can be difficult to keep track of when there are detailed Award updates
Some of our employees have found the app can become glitchy if they don't log out regularly.

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration between the HR & payroll platforms is being upgraded all the time, reducing the disparity between the two.
Ai chat bot is really helpful when you need a quick answer for time sensitive situations, with the option to still speak with someone if you need further help.

The constant changing of the platform. Things get moved around and you have to search for them and functions that work well are removed and then replaced with extra steps to get to where you want to be. A lot of convenient functions I constantly used have been replaced this way and it is very frustrating. I feel not enough testing is done (or clients consulted about how they use certain functions) before the changes are made.    
Also, it has improved slightly lately, but I find calling support a chore as it takes so long to get through to someone. I lose a lot of time when I have to call for help.

I dont have any problems EH is solving, they are creating more with the constant platform changes.

Employment Hero has significantly improved and streamlined many of our day-to-day HR and payroll processes, creating greater efficiency, visibility, and consistency across the business. It reduces the amount of manual administration required, minimises the risk of errors, and allows processes that were previously time-consuming to be completed far more efficiently.

From an operational and HR perspective, it assists greatly with maintaining compliance by ensuring accurate record keeping, employee documentation, leave management, payroll processing, and timesheet approvals are all managed within one centralised system. Having everything stored electronically also improves transparency, accountability, and accessibility for both managers and employees.

The system provides employees with direct access to important information such as payslips, leave balances, rosters, timesheets, policies, and employment documents, which encourages greater ownership and self-management. For managers, it allows improved oversight of staffing, attendance, approvals, reporting, and workforce trends across all sites.

Employment Hero also supports consistency in processes and expectations company-wide, ensuring that approvals, documentation, onboarding, disciplinary records, and compliance requirements are managed in a structured and professional manner.

One area I dislike about Employment Hero is the limited level of customisation available around visibility and workflow management. Certain functions feel disconnected and cannot easily be viewed together, which can make processes more time-consuming than necessary. For example, it would be highly beneficial to have timesheets integrated with leave visibility so managers can view attendance and approved leave within the same screen, rather than needing to move between multiple sections of the system. This would improve efficiency, reduce the chance of oversight, and create a more streamlined user experience.

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to implementing Employment Hero, we utilised a highly manual system where many processes and reports were extremely time-consuming to complete. Since transitioning to Employment Hero, we have been able to significantly streamline our processes, improve overall compliance, and reduce administrative workload across the business.

The platform has created considerable time savings on a day-to-day operational level and has also provided strong support to other departments through improved visibility, reporting, and workflow management, which has been a fantastic improvement for the business overall.

Considering we've only been with Employment Hero just over a month, the time and service from you has been outstanding. You helped us start a new employee handbook, finalize our policies, and tighten up our contracts, which has been invaluable for future-proofing our business.1

I also spoke with Tom Brennan about some platform queries today, specifically regarding setting up our leave categories, and he was ever so helpful also.2

I was a bit worried at first as we did the self-implementation, and some parts felt uncertain, but once I got through to speak to you and Tom, I feel this was definitely the right choice.

Easy to navigate and explore, I have not had the full opportunity to explore fully so it is difficult for me to answer fully

the terminology of the training video showing how to use seem to be different to what is on the desktop, it seems not all videos have been updated, the AI doesn't seem to work consistently and I feel the support access isn't practical if you have an urgent problem. However because I have not had a great deal of time to explore I am unable to fully comment

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a standalone HR manager and im struggling to explore the system fully, we have had employees get blocked or locked out the system and I have sought advise but i am still waiting. The system set yup seems a little clunky and we have had a lovely advisor Cherry helping up, however this is going to be a slow process

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

Support tickets sometimes take a long time to generate.
Go1 integrations can glitch. Support tickets take at least 24 hours to generate via EH queue. Then it takes ages (48 hours) before the actual Go1 integration problem is resolved.
Seek integration also does glitch. I've had a number of ads not go up. This tends to happen when I've made a typo or need to change the initial ad and the integration seems to glitch when trying to update the ad with the changes. I then need to call Seek to have the ad taken down and organise a refund.
The initial HR package also included legal advice. I'm not sure where we're at with that.

Administration of various HR functions is now able to done via a single portal. The tool is easy enough to be adapted and flexible enough to cope with changes.

**What do you like best about Employment Hero?**

Employment Hero’s ability to bundle a variety of services into one platform is a real strength. It helps us roll out core HR activities across the business more smoothly by giving employees and managers straightforward access to the key information and processes they need.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

Whilst Employment HERO (EH) provides the core functionality, it can be a little confusing to set up for a complex business, particularly when you’re trying to align everything with the chosen platform package (i.e., Premium or Platinum). For example, the permission settings can be tricky to validate, and there’s no “incognito” option to view the system as another user and confirm exactly what they can (and can’t) see based on those settings. 

Another area that feels clunky is uploading and sharing policies. You can upload a policy and share it with all employees as mandatory, but if you need to re-issue that same policy to a specific employee so they can read and acknowledge it again, you then have to re-assign it to everyone. That automatically sends out another copy for review, even when you only intended to re-send it to one person.

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When EH was first implemented a few years ago, our approach from a business perspective was mainly to minimise disruption and mirror our existing practices. In the end, that meant we put workarounds in place instead of using EH to its full service offering. We’re now working with EH to review our processes, rules, and practices, with the aim of streamlining and centralising our information and processes.

It mostly helps streamline our HR Management, payroll.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

Customer Service is average. Yesterday I was on the chat with 2 people who were trying to help me. They were completely unhelpful and the attitude seemed well that's all I can do and it was SLOW. Eventually I asked if I could be escalated. She then mentioned phone support. So after waiting over an hour on the chat I called. Phone call took approx 20mins waiting and then SARAH G sorted my issue in a few minutes. She was awesome. But by this stage I was unbelievably frustrated.

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Honestly we use pretty simple features. I understand the self service model of the business. But if you aren't technically savvy like me, I'm unlikely to try new features that I have to teach myself to use. The platform isn't flexible at all which doesn't always suit us.

One thing I appreciate about Employment Hero is that it keeps onboarding, payroll, and employee records in one place, so I don't have to switch between multiple systems. In my day-to-day HR work, this has made it much easier to track employee information and complete routine tasks faster.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

Overall, I am satisfied with the platform. If I had to suggest one improvement, I would like to see more flexible reporting options. Sometimes I need reports in a specific format, so having more customization would make the platform even more useful.

Employment Hero solves many problems in our organization such as providing one platform that simplifies all tasks for us from onboarding to payroll and compliance.
Using the Employment Hero platform automates the onboarding process that ensures a smooth transition for the employee before the Employment Hero we were doing it manually which was taking more time.
It also helps in managing Performance to set clear goals and track progress this helps in employee development and improves the overall organization's performance.
Its reporting capabilities provide valuable insights into HR metrics. This approach informs our decisions and also helps us to identify areas for improvement.
This platform has been helpful in integrating with other HR Platforms this way process becomes easy for us.
I also refer some of my industry friends to use the same software.

**What do you like best about Employment Hero?**

I think that EH is incredibly ease to use from an IT perspective with a clean interface that makes say to day tasks simple for both employees and managers. Since implementing the rostering functionality around for months ago, we've experienced zero issues, which is a huge improvement over our previous system.

EH has become our central platform for onboarding, off boarding and compliance, helping streamline our OT processes. The rewards and benefits system is fantastic fro all staff who genuinely enjoy it and we're looking forward to rolling out the payslip functionality in the future.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

While the core functionality is very intuitive, some of the more advanced HR and administrative features can take a little while to learn.

As we continue to adopt more of EH features, if love to see even greater flexibility in reporting and dashboards customization. Have a more options to tailor views for different departments or management roles would make an already strong platform legendary.

I've had a really positive experience with Employment Hero. It's easy to use, makes things like leave requests and payslips straightforward, and having everything in one place saves a lot of time. I also like the performance and HR features - the performance review and 1-on-1 features are great as they make it much easier to keep track of goals and day-to-day admin without it feeling clunky. Overall it's been a solid platform that just works.

I've had a couple of graphical glitches within the app when submitting expenses. Sometimes the + icon is invisible and others it would refresh when trying to scroll to the correct expense type and lose all items I have already entered, or photos uploaded

**What do you like best about Employment Hero?**

It’s great to have everything in one place, especially if you have more than one employer who uses it. The app and website are easy to navigate and it all makes sense once you work out how to jump between employers. The section for certifications is easy to understand, as it the notifications and policies areas.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

I have two employers using this, clearly one of them pays more to use a lot more of the functions. It would be great to be able to update certifications at an employee level, rather than at the employer level. It means I have to upload everything twice. With emails sent by EH, the ones sent from the employer how seemingly doesn’t pay as much doesn’t show who the email has been sent in relation to. You have to go and double check just to be sure.

It keeps track of when my certifications are about to expire, which is useful for health care work as first aid and CPR have to be updated regularly.

I like how all of the information in explicit and easy to find, I also like how you can easily read through documents and save your signature once so that the app automatically uses it for all the other forms you need to sign. I like that the app tells me when and how long until my next shift so that I am prepared for work.

The fact that you have to login everytime but I saved my password and use the facial recognition so that I don’t have to sign into the app everytime. That would be the only downside to the app, otherwise I would definitely recommend it.

The fact that training modules for work are normally hard to access or my manager is usually required to send them one by one through email but the app allows me to do everything and complete all training modules easily.

The recruitment tools - working as the main recruitment officer I have found the program very easy to navigate and keep up to date with the new changes that are implemented. RSS has engaged with the AI Recruitment Agent which has been very beneficial and has allowed RSS to elevate the recruitment process.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

Not being able to make changes to Certifications once created this has created a lot of extra flow on work due to not being able to amend the Certifications specifications once set up - i.e. Mandatory or Optional. Within the EH Work app not all unsigned documents (HR) are viewable or accessible, unless the team member has signed in via an internet browser and signed and acknowledged it then it won't appear or show in the app. Also, with the 2 Step Multi Authenticator it would be helpful if there was an option to upload the required 'verified documents/photo' against the account recovery request, to then be able to view the evidence in one place.

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AI Recruitment Agent, I have had a meeting with an EH representative Judy and myself and a work colleague have passed on feedback given with what would work better and what is working well. Since this meeting I have noticed that there have been some suggestions implemented - block candidates from all future listed jobs, AI re asking questions when picking up a vague response, AI calling from SEEK applicants in relation to shortlisting criteria.

Autonomy to create workflows that work four OUR business. the automation of many of the admin heavy process of HR. The security options to enable certain groups access to manage things they need with out turning EVERYTHING on, ie. keeping confidentiality a priority.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

Some of the limitations of the Australian system can be frustrating in terms of what other EH platforms do over seas. e.g. mileage in expenses. We spent ages reading the articel on how to set it up and it was only when we got through to a EH support person they advised that was on the Singapore platform.

As the sole HR person in a 30 year old business that was still using paper based HR functions for all its processes. it has been a giant leap forward. Saving time, improving data accuracy and record keeping. It made onboarding and offboarding smoother and more effective and brought the Performance development function forward into the 21st century.

I love how Employment Hero has so many feature to help me with managing the lifecycle of the employees at our org, especially things like certifications and HR documents.  I also particularly like that onboarding and induction can be done so seamlessly here, and sync to payroll is so easy.  I am looking forward to exploring other features like developing a learning suite through here in the future, too.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

I wish that for our subscription tier (premium) that rostering was available in the HR side, and that we could have access to a clock in/out kiosk.  However, as rostering is still available through payroll, and the clock in and out function on the app is so good, this has only impacted my experience a little. 
1 other thing I find frustrating is that I cannot keep a history of work hours like you can titles and salary.  It would be good to be able to have past and current work hours as our team change semi-regularly and I would like to load in advance, and also be able to see what they have done in the past.
Oh, and it would be great if custom variables in the document templates could be made in 1 document and available in others rather than having to re-make each time I go to edit another.

The template function in rostering platform (in Payroll) is a little counterintuitive and we can’t use it for our business purposes, meaning each week needs to be either copied and adjusted from previous weeks or manually recreated. It’s not a huge problem, but being able to create templates where you have more flexibility in adding staff in (especially staff who work at multiple venues within our business) would be a great asset

**What problems is Employment Hero solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many problems! Onboarding (as a high turnover business by nature  operating in the hospitality industry) is incredibly quick and the employees have full responsibility and control over their end of the process.  The inbuilt Awards ensure we have peace of mind knowing that our pay runs will automatically include all overtime, allowances, etc without any intervention from us. It makes our jobs much easier by automating our processes.

As a small business owner, you have millions of things to do everyday. HR often falls to the back of the urgency queue when you have to make money and satisfy clients. So having one place to put all your staff documents, reviews, reminders and processes is wonderful. No more searching drives and drawers for employment agreements. Plus you never forget an anniversary or birthday! Let alone the automation that can save time and compliance to save your business if there is a real issue. You can run your business without it, but why would you.

There is a lot to learn using any software. I had a staff member set it up and still needed help. Luckily there was contractors who could help me fractionally to solve most of these. If you use a well known product you can get help when you need.

For the small company I’m supporting (as a contractor through another company), EH has been very helpful as an HRIS. The specialist we worked with, Diana, has been great in all of our conversations. Payroll has run very smoothly, and support has been wonderful, whether through email, the AI option, or the community guides. The AI option for help is very quick.  The price for the system was perfect for the client, it integrated well with their accounting system, and so far, employees have had an easy time using it.  The system has performed as we have hoped!

So far, nothing major. It’s just taking us a bit of time to understand some of the system’s nuances and figure out how to fix things when they come up. It’s not a big deal at all.

The slow process of learning how everything works and having payroll stuff on more than one occasion. We still don't understand how the automations and workflows work and more training over 6 weeks would have been ideal to help us customise our platform to be up and running successfully. The task list is clunky and the certifications upload and timesheets clock on/off needs better editing and more features still. Some certificates just disappear and reappear also.

I really like using Employment Hero. I mainly use it to book and manage my annual leave, and I find it very easy and straightforward to use. The system makes holiday requests quick and hassle-free, and it’s useful being able to keep track of leave balances in one place. I also like the shoutout feature, which is a nice way to recognise colleagues and celebrate good work across the team

The only downside for me is that I mainly use it for booking holidays, so some of the other features can feel unnecessary and make the platform seem a bit cluttered.

The all in one setup is the standout. Having HR, payroll, onboarding and employee self service sitting in the one platform means we’re not jumping between systems or duplicating data. Onboarding new staff is largely automated now, so new starters complete their own contracts, bank details and personal info before their first day, which has saved us hours. The employee self service portal is a big win too, the team can pull payslips, request leave and update their details without coming through admin every time. Payroll syncing has been reliable, the interface is clean and easy to navigate, and support have been responsive when we’ve needed them.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

The reporting can feel a bit rigid, getting a custom report exactly how you want it sometimes takes more digging than it should. A few of the more advanced features sit behind higher tiers, so the pricing can climb as you scale. Occasional syncing delays between modules have popped up, though nothing major. The mobile app is handy but lags behind the desktop version on a couple of functions. Overall minor gripes against what it delivers.

Employment Hero has pulled a lot of scattered admin into one place for us. Before, onboarding, payroll, leave management and employee records were spread across different systems and spreadsheets, which meant duplicated data entry and plenty of room for things to slip through the cracks.

The biggest problem it’s solved is onboarding. New starters now complete their own contracts, tax and super details, and bank info digitally before their first day, so we’re not chasing paperwork or manually keying everything in. That’s saved us hours per hire and means people are productive faster.

**What do you like best about Employment Hero?**

Honestly, moving our onboarding and HR documents over to Employment Hero has saved my sanity. Having the contracts, VEVO checks, and policy sign-offs all handled digitally in one spot before a new starter even walks through the door is brilliant. The integration with Xero is relatively smooth, and knowing that the platform actively updates with Fair Work award changes gives me massive peace of mind on the compliance side. The staff also find the Swag app pretty easy for checking payslips and submitting leave requests.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

It’s not entirely a "set and forget" system. The initial setup and getting our custom payroll rules sorted took way more manual data entry and tweaking than the sales pitch led us to believe. My biggest gripe, though, is the customer support. If you hit a weird glitch or a payroll error, getting a real human on the phone or chat quickly can be incredibly frustrating—it relies heavily on their AI chatbot and support tickets, which takes time when you're in a rush.

Coming from someone with a background in Oracle Netsuite, the learning curve was almost non-existent when transferring to Employment Hero. Each page is self-explanatory and there are multiple templates we can create in order to issue letters and flyers to our many employees.

**What do you dislike about Employment Hero?**

The lack of a unique ID for each field does make me nervous when bulk updating data, but as long as the relevant fields are present, I suppose this mitigates the chance for error. The app in comparison to the website is a little lacking though - I do wish you could access the features on the website on the app as well so that I can source check when I'm away from my computer. The web browser on mobile can be a bit finnicky!

EH has made our people experience much more seamless, and the integration between the HR and payroll platforms has also made things a lot quicker than our previous processes. Managers now have better visibility, and the features available in the HR platform are always evolving. The payroll platform is consistently up to date, and there is always someone available to help, whether through the chatbot or a human. The support resources are also very helpful.

Sometimes issues take a bit longer to resolve than I would expect. At times, you may end up speaking with someone who doesn’t fully understand the legal requirements in the country, which can mean the advice isn’t accurate.

It has streamlined our onboarding process and significantly improved the integration from HR to Payroll. Previously, we were using two different systems and a lot of paper. Overall EH offers a good amount of functionality, there's a lot that we can utilise as a business. For the most part the team that assist when we call are super helpful.

The struggles we've had so far have mainly been in regard to limitations within various functions and especially when it comes to permission levels. There seems to be alot of permissions that are restricted to just admin users that we should be able to assign to primary and secondary managers. Because alot of the functions are automated in the backend by EH it can make it difficult to have a full view and understanding of how things connect.

I feel they actively take on feedback in regard to functions we'd like to see adapted and we're seeing this in the constant updates in the system.
