Lots of functionality. They have a lot to offer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The reports are terrible. You can tell they don't have end users look at the reports to let them know about the problems with the reports. If you want to view a truck that left Atlanta, go to New York and then Miami, it would read backwards. It would look like this...
B=11-4-24 12:45 PM New York(25:15)
A=11-3-24 2 PM Atlanta
B= 11-5-24 3:30PM Miami (26:30)
A=11-4-24 1:00 PM New York
I have talked to support and our representative a few times but no one seems to understand. Most people read left to right and top to bottom. Most people go in chronological order. If I was to describe to you how I drove from Atlanta to New York and then to Miami I would go in order, I left Atlanta at 2 PM drove to New York got there the next day at 12:45, left New York and drove to Miami, I arrived at 3:30 Pm on 11-5. They way the lay out their reports it reads like this, I got to New York on 11-4 at 12:45, I was coming from Atlanta and I left on 11-3 at 2 PM. Later I was in Miami at 11-5 at 3:30 PM and I left New York on 11-4 at 1 PM. They have a time in parentheses that is not labeled but it is travel time. They don't bother to calculate how long the truck was stopped in New York. The programmers said that would be to complicated when I spoke with support. So you want that information you will need to look at the first line labeled B and go down to the second line labeled A and count the time up in your head. There is no way to sort it either so it goes in order. They said they would look into revising the order of the reports to make sense but it has been a 18 months and its still the same. Easy access to the current location and status of our equipment. Samsara has helped our guys put a focus on safety and dramatically reduced our reportable accidents.
Installation is simple, and afterward, all data is live. You can instantly pull multiple videos and images. Download speed has improved through the years.
It integrates well with route accounting software, and volumes of training materials are available online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Accessing information on the phone app is a chore. Can't access trip images and videos direct from app, I must be in front of a computer.
AI detection still needs work - can't tell when visor is down blocking vision of the camera very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are a number of things I really like about Samsara. The Vehicle Gateway is robust and very functional. When it is combined with the forward facing camera, the result can be very helpful. For example, the knowledge of exactly where my vehicles are has allowed me to get mobile maintenance to my trucks much quicker than replying on a driver's recollection of where they are. The availability of camera video has made working with enforcement individuals much easier and has helped determine the true events of many incidents which resulted in saving my driver's and my company's reputation and money. I have also found that the availability through data extraction of HOS data, Trip History data, Time Onsite data, etc. has augmented the information contained in many of our back office systems. The one thing I would ask is that the reporting and data extraction mechanism be consistent. The reporting and data extraction process does not always give you the same information, even when reviewing the same data item. Also, the system uses different data extraction UI's for different reports. A single UI would be preferred. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We’ve been using Samsara for years, and it’s been incredibly helpful for our team! We rely on it to monitor temperatures inside our fleet of trucks, which need to maintain a specific range to ensure refrigerated trucks are functioning properly. The reporting feature is a standout—it sends us instant alerts if temperatures go outside our set parameters, allowing us to take action quickly. The support team is also very responsive, always there to assist whenever we need help. Overall, Samsara has been a reliable tool that we’d highly recommend to anyone needing real-time temperature monitoring and dependable support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One small area for improvement with Samsara is that, on rare occasions, the sensors and gateways don’t capture complete data, leaving a few gaps in our records. However, this doesn’t happen often, and the support team is always quick to help resolve any issues when they do arise. Despite this occasional hiccup, Samsara has been an incredibly reliable tool for our temperature monitoring needs. We continue to recommend it highly, as the benefits and the responsive support team far outweigh any minor issues! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love that I can check on where my drivers are and that it is easy to check on where my fleet is at. I like that I can tell how much gas and battery life each vehicle has. I use this every day to see where my drivers have stopped. It is great when a customer calls saying we didn't stop at their location and I can pull up exactly where my driver was. I don't like that I cannot easily get video and pictures of incidents that happen while my drivers are driving. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can quickly and easily find our drivers any time I need. The visuals are SIMPLE and don't require a whole training or any instruction to understand. Very user-friendly. We can see in real time, and the website refreshes counstantly and puts a time stamp on the vehicle. I can see MPH, view images and videos of the inside of the van during transports. It's truly remarkable technology. It's my favorite part of my job because (unlike a lot of websites) it's reliable, simple, and straight-forward. I've never had a glitch or an issue. When patients are depending on us, we can depend on Samsara becuase the information is ALWAYS accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I truly haven't found any downsides about using Samsara. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Samsara provides excellent and quick customer service for any issues on the driver and admin end. The drivers have an easy to use application for their logs, and our admins have a dashboard that easily integrates with many transport management systems. Logbooks can be navigated seemlessly by everyone. The UI is friendly for experts and people that are new to the industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Samsara equipment can get very pricey pretty quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have been using Samsara for over 5 years and I can say the technology is top notch. I really appreciate how easy it is to install and connect the products to the dashboard. They are always working to improve innovative services. Samsara really understands the needs of our company and creates ways to make things easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is pricey and the contracts start at 3 years minimum. If you want to add units to the contract it takes a long time to get a price. Approximately 6 months to add a unit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The camera is the most helpful tool in samsara from a safety and compliance side. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
rural areas and gateways going offline. Some areas in the mountain have horrible sattilite service. Which has a n effect on getting videos and locations when in those areas. you have to pray nothing happens while those gateways are offline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The tools to monitor equipment, drivers and the related data elements regarding safety, activity and DOT compliance are easy to use and VAST within Samsara. I believe they are unmatched in the software market for seamless, integrated and robust tools. Space does not permit an adequate explanation for all the ways the Samsara app places information at your fingertips- mileages, location, fuel consumption, DOT logs, safety alerts, camera data, trip history, individualized driver behavior records, inline communication to driver devices and much, much more. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It would be wonderful if the phone app could do more than it does- but even that is quite robust. The desktop app has all the bells and whistles anyone could require or desire! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
