At this point, we really don't have any significant complaints. The implementation process has gone smoothly, the platform has been easy to use, and the support we've received has been excellent. We're still relatively early in our experience with Samsara, but so far it has met or exceeded our expectations.

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

Samsara has provided significant value through its real time visibility, driver safety tools, and operational efficiency features. One of the most impactful features for our organization has been the AI dash cameras and safety coaching workflows. The ability to quickly identify risky driving behaviors such as mobile phone usage, rolling stops, speeding, and seat belt violations has allowed us to proactively coach drivers before incidents occur. This has helped improve overall safety scores and create stronger accountability across multiple business units.

The platform’s centralized dashboard has also streamlined our workflow considerably. Instead of manually compiling information from several systems, we can monitor driver performance, vehicle health, HOS compliance, and equipment status all in one place. The reporting tools save hours each week by making it easy to track trends, compare locations, and share performance updates with leadership teams.

Another major benefit has been Samsara’s coaching and event review process. Managers can review safety events quickly, assign coaching sessions, and track completion rates in real time. This has improved coaching timeliness and helped reduce repeat risky behaviors over time. The visibility into repeat events has been especially valuable because it allows us to focus attention on drivers who need additional support or training.

While Samsara has provided strong value overall, there are several areas where improvements could enhance the user experience and operational efficiency.

One area that could be improved is reporting customization and dashboard flexibility. Although the platform offers a large amount of data, building highly customized reports can sometimes feel limited or require extra manual work outside the system. Greater flexibility in creating dashboards tailored to specific operational or leadership needs would help reduce time spent exporting and manipulating data in spreadsheets.

Another challenge is the consistency and accuracy of certain AI detected safety events. While the AI cameras are extremely valuable, there are occasional false positives for behaviors such as distracted driving or rolling stops. These events can create additional review time for managers and may reduce driver confidence in the system. Continued refinement of event detection accuracy and more user adjustable sensitivity settings would improve trust and efficiency.

The coaching workflow could also benefit from additional automation and visibility features. For example, having more advanced tracking for recurring driver behaviors, escalation workflows, or automated follow up reminders would help safety teams manage large driver populations more effectively. Enhanced analytics around coaching effectiveness over longer periods would also provide stronger insights into behavior improvement trends.

Before implementing Samsara, we struggled with limited visibility into driver behavior, inconsistent coaching processes, and time consuming manual reporting. Safety data was spread across multiple systems, making it difficult to identify trends, respond quickly to incidents, or hold teams consistently accountable. Tracking vehicle health, HOS compliance, and operational performance also required significant manual effort each week.

After implementing Samsara, we were able to centralize fleet operations, safety monitoring, and compliance management into one platform. Real time visibility into driver behavior through AI dash cameras and telematics allowed us to identify risky behaviors immediately instead of reacting after incidents occurred. Managers can now review events, assign coaching, and monitor completion directly within the platform, which has significantly improved accountability and response times.

One of the biggest improvements has been in safety coaching effectiveness. Previously, identifying repeat risky behaviors was difficult and often delayed. what i like best about samsara is how easy it is to use and how much visibility it gives into daily operations. The real time tracking, reporting, and communication tools help improve efficiency, accountability and overall workflow. It has made managing routes, drivers and performance much more organized and convenient

One downside of samsara is that some features can feel overly sensitive or generate alerts that are not always accurate, which can become frustrating over time. the system can also take some time to fully learn and navigate, especially for new users. However, overall, it is still a very useful platform for improving operations and tracking performance

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

The positioning data of trucks if very up to date so we can see where guys are at live without any delays. This is absolutely crucial data to have real time.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

Mouse wheeling or clicking the +/- to zoom in and out on the map rapidly will cause the reverse desired affect because the location of the button on screen move. What this does when you are trying to zoom in or out very quickly is cause the opposite input to be selected. So you mouse wheel fast to get a large zoom out but in doing that you'll get a zoom IN input and so it'll start to zoom out then zoom in slightly. This is quite frustrating and causes you to slow down you clicks or mouse wheels to stop the reverse input from being selected.

**What problems is Samsara solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to see where our drivers are live lets us accurately and actively avoid potential traffic that will hinder the driver or hazards. In addition, if there is a breakdown we can pinpoint the location of our driver. Also the safety calculations and video really help to identify problem behaviors that need addressing.

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

We’ve had a good overall experience using Samsara for fleet tracking across our masonry construction operations. Managing crews and vehicles across multiple job sites can get hectic, and the system has helped us stay much more organized day to day. The live GPS tracking is accurate and easy to follow, which makes dispatching and coordinating deliveries a lot smoother. It’s also been helpful having access to maintenance alerts and driver data in one place instead of juggling multiple systems or spreadsheets.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

Like any tech platform, we’ve had a few issues here and there. We did run into some hardware problems with a small number of trackers that had to be replaced over time. It was frustrating when it happened, but their support team was generally quick to respond and got replacement units handled without too much hassle.

**What problems is Samsara solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Samsara is helping us solve one of the biggest challenges in construction- visibility and accountability across our fleet and field operations. Before using Samsara, it was a lot harder to know exactly where our vehicles were, how they were being used, and how efficiently our crews were operating throughout the day. Now, we have real-time tracking and clear data that gives us a much better handle on everything going on in the field. This has helped us improve scheduling, reduce unnecessary driving, and respond quicker when something comes up. It also adds a layer of accountability for our drivers, which naturally leads to better habits and safer driving overall. On the back end, the reporting has been a big benefit too. We can easily pull data for payroll support, job costing, and general oversight without having to piece things together manually. Overall, it’s saving us time, reducing guesswork, and helping us run a more efficient operation.

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

I work in the ground transportation industry and I use Samsara as an ELD for regulated chauffeurs and to track safety, maintenance, and as a GPS. Samsara has helped us take our pre and post trips digital, cutting down the number of apps our chauffeurs need to use and digitizing a previously paper-based process. I like the simplicity of the user interface, which means there's a very low barrier to being able to use it. I also appreciate how it makes several regular processes easier from an administrative perspective, such as IFTA taxes, chauffeur accountability, and following up on service issues. Setting up new drivers and users has been incredibly easy, and it is one of the simpler software programs that our chauffeurs use daily.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

Some of the features we'd like to utilize are an additionally paid feature, I wish that we could further customize our IVRs, but the cost was prohibitive for us. I wish that speed limits were updated more regularly. I understand that we can go in and manually override based on adjustments, but the system only pulling updates quarterly often means that some of our chauffeur safety alerts wind up inaccurate until the system catches up. None of our current tools integrate with Samsara.

Samsara digitizes our pre and post trips, reducing paper use and app clutter. Its user-friendly interface simplifies processes like IFTA taxes and chauffeur accountability. It also offers GPS tracking and safety monitoring, enhancing maintenance and regulatory compliance.

What I like best about Samsara is the overall visibility and control it gives over fleet operations, safety, HOS compliance, and driver coaching. The platform makes it much easier to identify risky driving behaviors, review incidents quickly, manage logs, and improve accountability across the fleet. The integration between telematics, cameras, safety events, and reporting tools creates a strong all-in-one system that helps both operations and safety departments stay proactive instead of reactive.

I like that Samsara allows me to track everything live and get the hours of service instantly. It's very precise. And also let me know about many aspects related to the truck

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

I've noticed that Samsara isn't working as well as it used to, especially with live tracking. Up until about six months ago, everything was pretty smooth, but now it's a struggle. The system tends to hang a lot when I'm updating trips, like entering truck or trailer numbers, and it takes a long time to load. Once I log into Samsara, it takes a while to show the unit number, and it doesn't take the input instantly. This slow performance has definitely ruined the experience lately. Previously, it was much better.

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

I like that Samsara turns fleet, safety, and operational data into trusted, actionable insight without adding administrative burden. It replaces manual, error-prone processes with automation, especially around driver performance, reporting, safety metrics, and compliance. Samsara gives us a single, reliable view of vehicles, drivers, equipment, diagnostics, and trips. The initial setup was super easy, and Derek Maan was very helpful. I also appreciate the real-time tracking and durability that Samsara provides.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

I would love for Samsara to add ghost assets to the maintenance side. I need to be able to submit a service ticket for an asset that does not have a Samsara unit.

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

I love that I can check on where my drivers are and that it is easy to check on where my fleet is at. I like that I can tell how much gas and battery life each vehicle has. I use this every day to see where my drivers have stopped. It is great when a customer calls saying we didn't stop at their location and I can pull up exactly where my driver was. I also like that I can tell which drivers have incidents and exactly what type of incident they had. Easy to learn how to use and teach employees how to use it. IT's also great that I can put alerts on when drivers are stopping at their personal houses

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

Videos don't always save which causes an issue when we have to check how a driver is driving or if there was an accident we can't see what fully happened.

**What problems is Samsara solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When a customer calls in stating that we have not been to their location I am able to pull up my drivers location and let them know that we had in fact been to their location. It also works for the opposite when a driver hasn't actually stopped so that we can have a discussion with our driver on why they did not stop. It also solves the problem of when a person calls in and says our driver is not driving safely, I can effectively see their speed, location, and pull up a video of where the driver was to see exactly what happened.

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

I use Samsara to track the status of our rental fleet units and I like that it is very easy to use and has many features. Being able to track the vehicles live helps us a lot because we are able to save costs. The upcoming vehicle maintenance features help me a lot because I can coordinate with our technicians on what needs to be done and diagnosed on our fleet. Having the fault codes when the check engine light is on also helps me with creating the repair orders. The initial setup was very easy, and with AI features, it makes it even easier to set up.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

I wish it was a lot easier to edit and view the video recording. Especially if we have a truck that is involved in a traffic accident. I wish it was as simple as cut and paste.

**What problems is Samsara solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Samsara to track our rental fleet live, saving costs. Knowing vehicle status helps us profit more. The maintenance features assist coordination with technicians and fault codes ease creating repair orders.

I like how easy it is to find guys when they're on the road with Samsara. I also find the safety app valuable for checking driver scores to see who's doing the right things and driving safely. The GPS feature is especially useful as it lets me see where everybody is. Plus, I can check everybody's hours of service, which is really handy. Additionally, the initial setup was pretty good because they gave us good PowerPoints and told us what to do.

Maybe access to the pre trips and post trips could be improved, or there could be an easier way to get to them.

I use Samsara to easily track where all the guys are when they're out driving. The GPS feature helps me see their locations, and the safety app lets me monitor driver scores and hours of service.

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

We have been using Samsara for our fleet operations and the service has been excellent. The system is very reliable and easy to use, especially for GPS tracking, ELD compliance, and real-time vehicle monitoring.

The dashboard is user-friendly and helps us manage our trucks efficiently. It has improved our safety reporting and reduced downtime by allowing quick response to vehicle issues.

Customer support has also been responsive and helpful whenever we needed assistance.

Overall, Samsara is a great solution for fleet management, and we are very satisfied with its performance

We have been using Samsara for fleet management, and overall it is a strong and reliable system for GPS tracking, ELD compliance, and real-time vehicle monitoring.

It is easy to use, the dashboard is well designed, and it helps improve safety tracking and operational efficiency. The support team is also generally responsive.

However, there are a few downsides. The cost can be on the higher side, especially for small or mid-size fleets. Some features also require additional add-ons, which increases the overall price. At times, the system can feel dependent on stable internet connectivity, and minor delays in updates may occur.

Samsara helps us solve several key fleet management challenges, especially around visibility, compliance, and operational control.

It provides real-time GPS tracking of our trucks and trailers, which improves dispatch planning and reduces delays. The ELD system helps us stay compliant with HOS regulations under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), reducing the risk of violations and audit issues.

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

I like being able to immediately see what’s going on with our fleet at a moment’s notice. The cameras are hardwired, which helps prevent employees from unplugging them or tampering with them. I also appreciate the remote access to video footage, so I don’t have to physically pull a memory card to review it.
I don't know how this survey is calculating the star review, but it is showing as a 3 out of 5. I would actually put it at a 4 or 4.5 out of 5 stars. It is a really good product despite some of the minor flaws that I personally have experienced which would not be necessarily true for others.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

Sometimes it takes far too long for a video file to be retrieved after I request it. There have been times when I request a series of videos and, even 8 hours later, it still hasn’t connected to the camera to start the upload. For time-sensitive situations, that delay is really frustrating. The audio alerts are also pretty overbearing. I understand this is a feature controlled by our administration, but I still think the sensors for things like harsh braking, lane departure, and railroad crossing violations need a lot of work, because they seem to trigger for no reason. Lastly, some of our cameras do not have the ability to live-look in despite the fact we calibrate all of our fleet to the same standard protocols, why are some able to and others don't give me that option?

**What problems is Samsara solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The interactive map is great for seeing where our drivers are and accessing key data about our trucks. The data related to miles and fuel economy is always the most accurate in Samsara compared to other platforms like Fleet One. I think the new AI-powered tools have great potential, even though they're not fully operational yet. The initial setup was very easy. I believe it is by far the best tool for trucking operations available for carriers like us.

The AI assistant has amazing potential for report building, but right now it struggles to do the tasks that I ask it to do. It seems to be a pretty outdated model and does not have great problem-solving skills compared to ChatGPT or Gemini.

It has many useful functions. When I log in, I can see a map showing all vehicles in motion, and I can also check whether the driver is logged in.  I can also get a weekly recurring report on drivers safety performance for a specific location or a group of employees. AI function helps you find information and steps how to get to that function

Following distance is hard to determine and we do not get a lot of occurrences for drivers. I know our some of our drivers are following too close to other drivers but we get minimal occurrences on any drives.  They setting will not let you or shorten the time to pick these occurrences up. They get a warning 1st so we do not get a true picture of drivers following too closely to other vehicles which could cause accidents.

We have eliminated another system called compass that we had to use beside using LYTX to capture miles.  This is saving money as we were paying for two systems and Samsara does both for us.

I find Samsara very useful for our fleet of vehicles. It helps keep both drivers and passengers safe, and I really appreciate the ability to monitor in real time. I really like being able to see what the driver is seeing as it happens, which is especially helpful if there are issues with a passenger. Once it's set up, Samsara is easy to navigate and understand. Despite some bugs, it's the only system we've used, and it's proven to be very useful. I'd definitely give it a 10 for the way it enhances operations and safety.

There are some issues with movements and hand gestures with drivers. A driver will move their hand and the system thinks it's a phone and advises the driver to put the phone down, or when a hand is covering their mouth for whatever reason, it takes it as a yawn. I find being able to see the truck live and monitor its speeds really helpful for deliveries. The camera system has a lot more clarity compared to our previous system. I really like that Samsara is small and can be hidden behind the rear-view mirror. The best feature for me has been how quick and easy it is to install, taking a maximum of 15 minutes. The installation process was straightforward with instructions that were very easy to follow, and I am very happy with the easy navigation of the portal. I find that Samsara allows me to convert the distance into miles, a feature that our previous providers couldn't offer. This is really helpful since we calculate rates by miles in trucking, and it helps me see how many miles a driver has run for the week or month. Samsara is also one of the most recognizable tracking software in the industry and is relatively cheaper. Plus, the initial setup was pretty easy—not hard at all.

When I have to get an ETA for a truck, I put the address in the destination, and it just gives us the time, not the total distance.

The products and software truly stand on their own. We've managed to enhance our fleet's safety in numerous ways, and our drivers really appreciate the app. Samsara's customer service is consistently excellent, with staff who are helpful, friendly, and always focused on finding solutions. Not really a downside to Samsara. I have enjoyed using their software. Not really sure how to use the Agentic AI or what it is.

Safety with drivers specifically with awareness such as distracted driving, speed control, rolling stops and so forth. Whenever there is an incident such as a rolling stop the drivers want to know about it and want to see the video. They are never combative but wanting to do better. 
One of the reasons wee chose Samsara was the ability to monitor vehicle diagnostics and fuel management. I provide reports to the drivers each month and fuel consumption has gone down with safety being at the forefront as a result. Currently Samsara is working on expanding fuel efficiency readings to better help our fleet.

The downside of Samsara is the online/computer version. After activating a serial number for a asset, you have to go back to the dashboard and re-input all the information back in just to pull up the information on settings to rename the device or asset.

I like how easy Samsara is to work with and the many options it has. I appreciate the real-time tracking and HOS data features, as well as the new features like weather, which are very important tools for logistics companies. The initial setup was very simple and quick.

I think an improvement could be the highlight of the hours a driver has already done as of 34 hrs reset. Some drivers work different hours and they handle the reset hours in a different way, it could be standardized and highlighted. Also, the mobile app crashes badly and some Android phones have several issues with it.

Customer support is quick and is very helpful, but only within their limits.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

The system is missing a lot of options, such as automatic notifications for drivers in the far-left lane and notifications for heavy speeding. The speeding data is available, but you have to dig through the data and search for each speeding event manually instead of having it automated. There are also a lot of false violations, and speed detection can be incorrect because Samsara has the wrong speeds recorded in their system.

Overall, the system doesn’t feel designed to be customized to fit specific client needs; it seems more like a one-size-fits-all setup. Our safety team gets involved with driver violations at different levels, and the review department is the very first step in our process because of how many false violations we see. Once a violation event is touched by anyone, that person is automatically assigned as a coach to the driver for the remainder of their employment, and that default behavior makes it difficult to manage violations appropriately.

Another limitation is the inability to create your own violations when you notice something on the camera that Samsara missed.

Account managers are completely absent from trying to help with any issue. The account manager and his manager (in our case) are both ignoring any of our attempts to reach out for help.

System cannot be integrated with 10Street to keep record of all coaching and training sessions.

**What do you like best about Samsara?**

Samsara’s camera system is what I like best. You can set the requirements based on what your company needs to monitor, and the system also monitors the cameras for you. Being able to use the safety inbox to review different flags is immensely helpful. We can quickly see what drivers are struggling to comply with, send them the snapshot videos, and have a conversation about how to correct it. Every snapshot still needs to be reviewed because AI can make mistakes, but having a clear list of events to review is much easier than going through hours of footage.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

Our company has pilot cars that we use to escort some of our loads. Because their role is different from our drivers, we need the settings on the pickups to be different from the tractors.

I was struggling to change a setting, so I called support. I was told they couldn’t change it because the settings had to be the same as the tractors. I knew that wasn’t right, because our previous manager who oversaw Samsara had the settings set up differently for the tractor versus the pilot car. I went back into the settings and tried again, and I contacted support one more time, but I got the same response.

Later, our company’s Samsara representative reached out to check in. I explained the issue, and she solved it right away. I dislike how confusing the settings can be, and I also didn’t like being told by customer support that changing the settings wasn’t possible when our Samsara rep was able to fix it immediately.

**What problems is Samsara solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Samsara’s tracking and cameras have been benefiting our company by helping us know where our drivers are and how they’re doing on the road. Being able to use the camera system to review footage from both inside and outside the vehicle is a huge help when an incident occurs. The cameras and tracking have also made it possible for us to show that multiple incidents were not our fault, either because we were following the law or because we weren’t in the area when the incident happened. Having the ability to quickly pull up evidence that we’re not at fault is valuable not only for our DOT Safety Rating, but also for our insurance premiums.

I like how easy it is to handle my quarterly IFTA and keep track of my equipment.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

The sensitivity of the driver app is a big issue for me. It keeps picking up my drivers’ movement after they’ve clocked out and headed home. It’s also overly sensitive with harsh stops, speeding for a minute and 11 seconds, and “following too closely.”

Another frustration is navigation in the app: when I’m trying to find something and have four pages to go through, it will suddenly revert back to page 1. The reports are also a problem. The timesheet report doesn’t separate the date and time, so I have to add two columns and then hand-enter the time rounded to the closest 15-minute intervals.

And when I have an issue and need help, I seem to get a different person almost every time. They usually don’t read my original complaint or issue and instead just send more videos or articles for me to read. I’m a safety manager, not an IT person. I don’t care about the extra material—just fix it.

We’re a small trucking company, and we don’t run ELDs. We don’t care about ELDs. Changes keep getting made to the driver app without any notice, and it causes a flurry of phone calls that I can’t do anything about.

The API is straightforward and easy to use, which has been super helpful for our back-office and documentation processes. The app itself is also easy to navigate, and even newer features—like the incoming weather feature—open up great options for our dispatch team to use. Customer support has been personal and professional, and they actively work to address any concerns we have as a company. On top of that, when I need something small, the AI chat feature has actually been pretty helpful. Overall, the performance and access we pay for are well worth it.

**What do you dislike about Samsara?**

At times, it can be challenging to find where a particular feature lives within the app. Some items, like managing email notifications, were only possible by contacting our representative and couldn’t be changed within the app itself. This isn’t a huge issue overall, but it can still be confusing to figure out where a specific setting is located in the menus and what steps are needed to update it.

**What problems is Samsara solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves a lot for us, but the primary ones would be: 
1. A central location where our DVIRs live, and where our drivers can walk through them and record them properly. 
2. Direct access to the current odometer, running state, and location of the vehicle, which helps with dispatch, service management (odometer), tracking time on and off the jobsite, and driver coaching. 
3. Dashcams and crash detection software. For example, we recently had a crash incident and when I went to collect the dashcam footage, it had already detected the incident, captured the appropriate data, and trimmed the video accordingly.
