You open it, get the task done, and close it. In my organization, we use Zelt to track our holidays, and leaves. We also have a directory of everyone working in the organization at an easy glance. Also I love the micro-interactions when I hover on the icons in the side bar. Very demure. **What do you dislike about Zelt?** It's doesn't help in building a connection between the people in my organization. I would like to leave small notes of appreciation perhaps? **What problems is Zelt solving and how is that benefiting you?** Previously, we were using a tool which had a very steep learning curve. I don't think I fully explored that product in the 6 months of me using it. Zelt has a very nice layout, very minimal design and a easy learning curve. The micro-interactions make you want to explore the product more. At the end of the day, I'm not going to be spending hours on Zelt. Max, I'll be spending is 10 - 15 mins. I log my leaves or whetever I have to do and go back to my other main tasks of the day. Zelt makes that process very easy and less.. frustrating. The biggest differentiator of Zelt is their customer service. It’s easy to manage employee records, run payroll, and centralise basic HR operations. The platform is feature-rich, which can be helpful for growing teams. **What do you dislike about Zelt?** We left Zelt primarily because of how it handles leave policies. The Core plan limits you to just three leave types — and with annual leave and sick leave already pre-filled, that leaves only one slot for everything else: maternity, paternity, shared parental, adoption, compassionate leave, unpaid leave, or even a work-from-home policy. We understand that developing a system involves trade-offs. But what’s been most disappointing is that, after we clearly raised this as an inclusion and equity issue, Zelt didn’t meaningfully engage with the point at all. The response focused on feature tiers, and didn't acknowledge the values behind the concern. This wasn’t about functionality—it was about the principles baked into the design, and that disconnect ultimately led us to move on. Other concerns: - Report generation is confusing — difficult to filter or extract relevant data. - Customer support has declined — previously strong, but now often defers to a chatbot that gives vague or unhelpful answers. - Some features feel unfinished — e.g. performance reviews and timesheets. The timesheets tool lets you log time, but extraction/export is clunky, and there’s no easy way to view or print what’s on screen. - Not an official HMRC recognised software - Integration issues - often had syncing issues with pensions provider Nest, and often required some manual editing of the bank file uploads for payroll payments **What problems is Zelt solving and how is that benefiting you?** Zelt helped us centralise core HR tasks like payroll, employee records, and absence tracking, which was useful as we built out our internal operations. Having everything in one place simplified admin for a small team. That said, we’re now in the process of migrating to another provider that offers similar core functionality — with better customer support, more inclusive design, and at a lower cost. For many early-stage companies, three configurable leave policies - for Annual Leave, Sick Leave, and one for All Other Leave, where employees can include a note with the reason - are sufficient. However, we understand that as teams grow or aim to implement more inclusive and nuanced leave policies, needs become more complex. Through Zelt, employees can view their outstanding holiday balances and submit absence requests which are automatically passed to managers for approval. The platform also flags when team members request overlapping time-off which has allowed us to manage our staffing during holiday periods much more effectively. I also really like being able to approve holidays from Slack. **What do you dislike about Zelt?** At the admin level, it is difficult to get full visibility of the team’s calendar so I would like to be able to zoom out. Our old system did not integrate with our accounting system and pension providers which meant we had to manually bridge the gaps. With Zelt, all the relevant payroll calculations are completed, tax information sent to HMRC, accounting journals published and pension contributions submitted before you are passed to your bank to make payments. The system also then generates PDF payslips that employees can access in their profile. Relative to our old system, Zelt saves me at least a few hours each week. **What do you dislike about Zelt?** No notable dislikes. Zelt has been really useful. **What problems is Zelt solving and how is that benefiting you?** Zelt allows us to check when our representatives are off annual/sick leave. We can also check on Zelt every month for our paychecks and Zelt has helped with this. ### 48.
