Hive features a mostly intuitive UI across browsers and desktop/mobile devices with its Hive App. The service makes tracking project status and related notes (such as temporary contacts) effortless, while offering customizable status fields and columns. The ability to pin active projects keeps key project groups within easy access, helping to streamline navigation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The desktop app occasionally logs users out if not used on a daily basis. Selecting the correct template can be a bit overwhelming if you're new to the interface and may take some trial and error so be prepared to spend time before going live. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Hive has multiple ways to view projects - status boards, Gantt charts, calendar, etc. It's easy to swap between these views without having to change your project setup. The integration with built-in notes, messaging, and other tools is awesome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The UI is a bit confusing until you get used to it. Getting started and introducing it to my team members was difficult, but that might be more due to my own unfamiliarity with Hive as I tried to train my teammates. There's some custom setup required to get dashboards and views that accomplish what I want, but now that I've got that setup it's easy to access the reports I need. Hive is easy to use, has a great UI and keeps all our projects in one place so I always know what the entire team is working on. It was simple to implement and their customer service team is fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The billing has been a challenge as we were overcharged and refunded a couple of times. The platform should explain adding users, etc. However, the customer service was exceptional in getting this issue resolved! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The dependency management functionality of the platform is not that robust, I would like to see it easier to mover projects to new folders. Sometimes it can be difficult to find a resource. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Many of its features were unknown to us, and it can be a bit overwhelming with the number of features. Notifications don't arrive at the right time, and sometimes it's a bit confusing to find the filter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of the primary reasons I chose Hive for our small team was because it had flexible project management views for my team members, with live integration of resource planning and individual project plans. A couple of team members juggle about a dozen or so projects, so intentional resource planning of tasks across projects helps us balance workload and reasonable timeline expectations. Time tracking is also integrated with Hive's project management, so it makes reporting easy later when we want to understand profitability.
There are also a number of integrations that have been great and our team uses Hive to keep our remote team connected. Our team dropped Slack when we moved to Hive, because of the integrated project chat feature. Our ability to have comment threads around tasks, helps keep related discussions and decisions easy to find, rather than losing them in a larger chat channel, too. I also love the Gmail integration that allows our team to transparently share email threads, so we can minimize the inbox noise.
Honestly, the thing I love most about Hive is that they crowd sources their feature requests. Our org is a small team but this allows us to have a voice and be considered in the evolution and growth in the product. I've had the opportunity to directly share feedback with Hive team members who were shaping the direction and development of the platform. The organization is actively developing and enhancing the product, so even though there are frustrations sometimes, I have seen them resolve those things over time, as well. They are interested in making Hive a platform that can serve all types of teams, and so even our team's unique way of using their tool is of interest to them. One of the unfortunate realities about Hive right now, is that it is not as polished and mature as products like Microsoft Project. There have been unintuitive/awkward/cumbersome UI interfaces at times. Sometimes when they roll out a release, there are bugs that break things that were working well, so they could improve their QA testing to minimize these instances.
