## Gusto Reviews
  ### 1. Intuitive, Mobile-Friendly HR and Payroll Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney S. | Resource Navigation Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is easily the best payroll software I've utilized. The streamlined and intuitive interface is easy to use, bright, and inviting. I really appreciate the mobile integration, allowing me to access all my HR and payroll info, benefits, and more quickly from an app on my phone without needing to log into a dedicated website. The ability to integrate with the kiosk app, time clock, break room, desktop apps, and phone apps is really helpful. The directory features make it easy to find who I need for a given task and contact them, which is a huge plus. The software somehow makes HR and payroll fun with features like answering fun about me questions and seeing coworkers' responses, which adds a personalized touch. I like having all my information in one place, and I don't have to dig through separate portals for paycheck stubs, paychecks, and onboarding paperwork. The countdown feature for break times is a nice touch that makes life easier, and the app's design is smooth and effortless to use. It was easy to get onboarded with the software and to set it up, taking just a few minutes of time once my account was created. Overall, it's a very inventive software.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I would appreciate kind of an internal messaging system. Even though it does have an option for contact information, it would be helpful to message someone in HR directly within the app to draw their immediate attention to what's needed. An internal messaging system would really be a value add.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Gusto to be the best HR and payroll software I've used. It's intuitive, easy to use, and integrates well across devices, making HR and payroll info accessible quickly. The geolocation and directory features are hugely helpful.

  ### 2. Efficient, User-Friendly Platform with Room for Notification Customization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zion G. | Administrative Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to accurately track my work hours and compensation, and it helps me ensure my time is recorded correctly for each pay period. I appreciate the transparency it offers, allowing me to easily review my hours and earnings, which gives me confidence that my payroll is accurate. The automation of much of the payroll process saves me time and reduces manual errors, making tracking my hours and payments more efficient. The initial setup of Gusto was very straightforward and intuitive; I was guided step-by-step in a clear, organized way, making it easy to complete the setup confidently without assistance. I love how user-friendly the interface is, with a clean layout and simple navigation, which makes it easy to find what I need without spending time searching through menus.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I’d like to see more customizable notifications and reminders for timesheet submissions and payroll updates that would help ensure important tasks aren't overlooked. More customizable notifications and reminders will make it easier to stay on top of important payroll tasks, allowing users to choose when and how often they receive reminders before timesheets are due could help prevent missed submissions. It would also be helpful to customize notifications for events such as payroll processing, direct deposit confirmations, paycheck availability, tax document release, or requests to review and improve hours. Having the option to receive these alerts by email, text message, personal notification, and to set individual preferences for each type would create a more personalized experience and reduce the likelihood of confusion.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to accurately track work hours and ensure correct compensation. It streamlines payroll, reducing time and errors, with a user-friendly interface that boosts efficiency and accuracy. I appreciate the transparency and automated payroll processes, which save time and minimize manual errors.

  ### 3. Gusto Makes Small Business Payroll Painless and Fast

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brett Ross R. | Realtor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto makes running payroll for a small business genuinely painless. The interface is clean and intuitive — running payroll takes just a few minutes each cycle, and the dashboard makes it easy to see what's due and when without digging through menus. Setup for California state and federal tax registrations was straightforward, and Gusto handles the tax filings automatically, which takes a huge mental load off. I also appreciate how it keeps everything organized in one place — payroll, tax forms, and employee records — so I'm not juggling multiple systems. For a solo operator or small team, the time saved each pay cycle is the biggest win. I'd recommend it to any small business owner who wants payroll off their plate without hiring a bookkeeper just to manage it.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Nothing major. If I had employees perhaps pricing would be a different consideration

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Gusto, running payroll took a lot of manual back and forth just to make sure taxes and filings were handled correctly. Now it's mostly automatic, so I save time every pay period and don't have to worry about missing a deadline.

  ### 4. User-Friendly Payroll with Essential Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fe M. | Paralegal/Legal Assistant/Secretary, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has become an essential tool for running my payroll and small business operations. What stands out most is the outstanding UI/UX — the interface is clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate even when I’m short on time. Everything is well-organized, and I can quickly find what I need without digging through menus.
I especially love the seamless integrations, particularly with Clair for on-demand cash advances. This has been incredibly helpful for managing cash flow during tighter months. I’ve also used the tax filing tools, and they integrate smoothly with everything else on the platform.
Performance is reliable and fast — payroll runs smoothly every time, reports load quickly, and I’ve never experienced downtime or glitches. I always feel confident that my payroll status is up-to-date and accurate.
On pricing and ROI, Gusto delivers strong value. While it’s an investment, the time it saves me on payroll, taxes, and compliance more than pays for itself. As someone balancing a full-time job, full-time studies, and running FM Notary LLC, the efficiency gains are worth every penny.
The support and onboarding were excellent. The initial setup was straightforward and user-friendly, and I was able to get everything configured quickly. Whenever I’ve had questions, the support team has been responsive and helpful.
I’ve also started exploring Gusto’s AI and intelligent features, which are impressive. They help surface insights and automate tasks that used to take more manual effort, making the platform even smarter over time.
Overall, Gusto gives me peace of mind and control over my finances and payroll. It’s one of the best business decisions I’ve made.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Honestly, I have not found anything significant that I dislike about Gusto. It has been a reliable, user-friendly platform that meets all my payroll, tax, and cash flow needs very well.
The only very minor thing I can mention is that I occasionally wish the mobile app had a few more advanced reporting features (I usually end up using the desktop version for deeper reports), but this is a small preference rather than a real issue. Everything else — from the intuitive UI/UX and seamless Clair integration to performance, support, and overall value — has been excellent.
I’m genuinely very satisfied with Gusto and would recommend it without hesitation.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves several key problems I was facing with payroll, taxes, and cash flow as a small business owner, full-time student, and single mom.
Before Gusto, staying on top of payroll, tax withholdings, and compliance while juggling a busy schedule felt overwhelming and time-consuming. Now, I’m always aware of my payroll status in real time, with clear updates and notifications. This peace of mind is huge — I no longer worry about missing deadlines or making errors.
The integration with Clair for on-demand cash advances has been a game-changer for managing cash flow. When unexpected expenses come up or money is tight between pay periods, I can access my earned wages quickly and easily. That flexibility reduces financial stress significantly.
Overall, Gusto streamlines everything — from easy setup and intuitive UI to reliable performance and excellent support. It saves me hours every month that I can spend on my studies, my daughters, or growing my notary business instead. I’m very satisfied with how Gusto has simplified my financial operations and given me greater control and confidence.

  ### 5. Payroll for Small Business

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dawn D. | Business Owner/CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I still like the ease of use for small, uncomplicated businesses. I also like that it integrates with QuickBooks Online, making my job as an accountant easier.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I would like it to be able to track locations for 1099 contractors, and be able to split hours amount different cities. In Ohio, that is the biggest challenge, the city tax authorities. Being able to track these in Gusto would be a great feature for construction businesses, as well as other service based businesses that travel. The tax notice research is not accurate. Amended returns for OH cities not made for adjustments to prior periods, causing me to have to pick up the slack. I also did not like how it automatically added Guideline to a client, that was using Human interest at the same time, causing me strife.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is making it easier for me by atomating tasks. Most clients are single owner S Corps and need a regular salary, Gusto easily lets me set that up, and keep them regular.

  ### 6. Well-Organized and Intuitive — Finding What I Need Is Effortless

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I find the system to be very well organized and user-friendly, making it easy to locate the information and resources I need. I also appreciate having convenient access to the employee documents I have signed, as it allows me to review company policies and procedures whenever I have questions or need clarification. Having everything centralized in one place has made it much easier to stay informed and confident that I am following organizational expectations.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One area that could be improved is the responsiveness of the system when clocking out for breaks. At times, there is a noticeable delay or lag before the action is processed, which can make it unclear whether the time entry has been recorded successfully. Improving the system's speed and reliability during the clock-in and clock-out process would help create a smoother user experience and provide employees with greater confidence that their time is being tracked accurately. Overall, this is a minor issue, but addressing it would enhance the efficiency and usability of the system.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has been a very user-friendly platform that makes it easy to access important company information and manage my employment details. I appreciate how simple it is to locate company documents, review signed forms, and keep track of my work hours in one centralized location. The platform also makes it easy to view paid holidays and other time-off information, which helps me stay informed about my schedule. Additionally, setting up direct deposit was a quick and seamless process, with clear instructions that made enrollment straightforward. Overall, Gusto has been an efficient and convenient tool for managing both payroll and employee information.

  ### 7. A Reliable Payroll Solution for Small Teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maxx D. | Milstein Scholar, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has completely simplified payroll for our small business. Before switching, we were manually calculating tax withholdings and chasing down compliance deadlines, which ate up hours every pay period. Now, payroll runs automatically, and Gusto handles federal, state, and local tax filings without me having to think about it.

The onboarding flow for new employees is a standout feature — new hires can fill out their own W-4s, set up direct deposit, and sign offer letters digitally, which has cut our onboarding time from days to minutes. I also really appreciate how transparent the pricing is; there are no hidden fees, and the tiered plans make it easy to pick what fits our team size.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

My biggest frustration is with the reporting features — they cover the basics well, but if you want to build a custom report or slice the data in a way that isn't already templated, options are limited. I've had to export to a spreadsheet and manipulate things manually more than once.

Customer support, while friendly, can be slow during peak times like open enrollment or year-end tax season. I've had a couple of tickets take a couple of days to get a real answer, which is stressful when it's payroll-related and time-sensitive.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto takes payroll taxes, employee onboarding, and benefits deductions off my plate — things that used to mean spreadsheets, manual calculations, and constant worry about compliance deadlines. Now taxes file automatically, new hires onboard themselves online, and benefits deductions sync without extra work on my end. The result is I save several hours every pay cycle and don't need a dedicated HR person to stay compliant.

  ### 8. Gusto Simplifies Payroll and HR with an Easy, Reliable Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bella A. | Bookkeeper, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

We've had a very positive experience using Gusto for our payroll and HR needs. As a growing business, we wanted a platform that was easy to navigate, reliable, and would simplify our payroll process, and Gusto has delivered on all of those expectations.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I am very happy about the platform! One of the things we've appreciated most is Gusto's customer support. Whenever we've had questions during setup or while learning the platform, the support team has been responsive, knowledgeable, and willing to walk us through the process. That level of support has made the transition much less stressful.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The onboarding process was smooth, and setting up our employees was much easier than we anticipated. The platform is intuitive, making it simple to process payroll, manage employee information, and access payroll reports. Our employees also appreciate being able to view their pay stubs, tax forms, and personal information through the self-service portal without having to reach out to our office.

  ### 9. Seamless Move from ADP: Gusto's Clear Guidance, Easy Benefits & Flawless First Payroll

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica B. | Vice President and Chief Giving Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Being a long-time ADP user, I was apprehensive about moving to another payroll platform. I needed the full-service multi-state tax filings and benefits management that I was used to, but I was tired of the high monthly fee. My favorite thing about Gusto (so far) is that every step has been laid out for me in plain English. I didn't have to research the state requirements separately because Gusto guided me through what I needed to know (and I definitely learned a few things along the way). The representative who helped me with setup questions was very patient. We successfully set up our benefits package, onboarded our employees, and ran our first successful payroll yesterday.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I can happily report that I have not run into any frustrating moments with Gusto. The initial set up, selection of benefits packages, and employee onboarding went very smoothly, and our first payroll ran without a hitch.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our highest priority in selecting a payroll service was ensuring compliance with federal and multi-state tax and reporting requirements. We also wanted the payroll process to be seamless for our employees. Now that we have Gusto set up and running smoothly in the background, our employees and administrative staff will save valuable time.

  ### 10. Easy to Use with Handy Pay Advance Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Camarin A. | Restaurant Server, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like how easy Gusto is to use, especially in the app. It's secure, and I use the Clair advance payment feature along with the Gusto spending account as my primary spending account. The Clair advance is convenient when I need extra cash for bills and unexpected expenses. It's also easy to repay since my direct deposit takes care of everything, so it handles the responsibility of paying it back. The spending account is easy to access and lets me see everything at a quick glance. Everything works very well. The email communications are quick too. I use the app, the Clair advance, and the web version. I've used Gusto as an employee with a different employer before and was always happy with the program. What stood out was the user-friendly aspect, the quick setup, the easy document completion, and the simple process of running payroll. The initial setup was super easy and took all of 5 minutes. I'd rate it a 10 out of 10 to recommend.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Everything works very well. The only thing I would add is a live chat feature for customer service, but the email communications are quick too!

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps me budget and track my time, spending, and paychecks. I use the Gusto Spending Account as my primary account and the Clair advance payment feature is convenient when I need extra cash for bills and unexpected expenses. It's easy to repay since my direct deposit handles it.

  ### 11. Effortless Time Tracking and Easy Document Access

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary J. | Event Management Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that the interface is really easy to use and navigate. The support team seems really available and the FAQ pages are easy to access. It makes it easy to clock in and clock out and to edit any shifts in case I need to go back and add a note to my hours. It also keeps my tax documents and pay stubs easily accessible and lets me see when upcoming paychecks are set to release. Earlier this year, I was getting all my tax documents in order to file my taxes, and though those documents are sometimes difficult to find through your job, Gusto's interface made it easy to navigate to the pay stubs, W-2 forms, and other documents I needed to make the whole experience smoother. The interface being simple, straightforward and not too cluttered makes it easy to use on a day to day basis. It's clear and visually simple but refined, so I'm not wasting time trying to navigate around a cluttered or clunky website. I can also access it from my phone and the app is super easy too, so if I'm on the go I can access all that I need. The setup was pretty easy with the instructions that were sent, and it was smooth and straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

On the mobile app, I think that there might be a discrepancy in the total hours for the month or for the pay period. The mobile app does not always include PTO time in total hours. Since the breakdown is a little bit more detailed on the website version rather than the app, I will typically just double check it on the computer in order to view my total hours.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since I work from home, Gusto makes it easy to clock in and out and edit shifts when I take a break or add a note to my hours. It keeps my tax documents and pay stubs easily accessible, and lets me see when upcoming paychecks release.

**Official Response from Chelsea B:**

> Hello,

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Gusto! We're glad to hear that our platform has been helpful for tracking time, managing time off, and accessing paychecks. We appreciate your feedback and are happy to have you as a satisfied user.

-Chelsea B

  ### 12. Gusto Makes Payroll Effortless: Clean UI, Easy Pay Access & Reliable Notifications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zakari L. | Lead Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like best about Gusto is how easy it is to access my pay information. I can quickly view my pay stubs, tax documents, and payment history in one place. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, and I appreciate getting notifications when I'm paid. Overall, Gusto has made the payroll process simple, convenient, and reliable from an employee's perspective.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I haven't experienced any major downsides so far. If I had to mention one thing, I'd say it would be nice to see even more customization options and additional self-service features. Overall, my experience with Gusto has been very positive, and it has worked well for my payroll needs.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes it easy for me to receive my pay on time and access all of my payroll information in one place. I can quickly view my pay stubs, tax documents, and payment history without having to contact HR or payroll. This saves time, keeps everything organized, and gives me confidence that my payroll information is accurate and easy to access whenever I need it.

  ### 13. Gusto: Effortless, Reliable Payroll for Solo S-Corp Owners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hamish P. | Solo operator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I'd never run payroll for myself before as a new S corp owner, and Gusto helped me get set up for the relevant taxes, run payroll, and complete everything in about half an hour of work. It all felt intimidating and overwhelming at first, but Gusto made the process extremely easy. The UI is very clear and simple, the app works reliably, and it turned what could have been a complicated set of tasks into something straightforward and low‑stress. The price feels really fair considering how much they handle, and I like that it integrates with a variety of accounting tools.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I haven't encountered any major downsides yet. I was a little confused about some specifics of California tax rules, and there could have been a bit more guidance on what is likely to be necessary for a solo S corp. I also don't like the advertisements for various insurance products, which aren't necessary for solo, service-based S corps. Beyond those points, it's been perfect.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am now legally required to run payroll and to complete the necessary tax registrations and filings. Gusto runs payroll for me—something I wouldn't have known how to do on my own—and it guided me through registering for all the legal requirements, helping ensure I remain in compliance with the relevant laws.

  ### 14. Stress-Free Payroll, Effortless Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jess f. | Jessica Luepke, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like Gusto's ease of use. The website is very user friendly and understandable, and it makes payroll stress free. It sends reminders and makes onboarding very, very easy, so new employees don't miss anything that is important. They handle everything, and we feel confident that we are taking all the right steps. They remind us when our payroll is due, and they take out all the necessary benefits and taxes and handle that all for us with just a few clicks. It is amazing and saves us so much time, energy, and anxiety. When we hire new employees, we don't have to worry about missing a step with getting them set up for taxes or not getting them paid on time. We can feel confident that we offer a great program and reliability as far as their paychecks. The initial setup was extremely easy, a very smooth process with clear steps. We were doing payroll manually or sending it to our accountant before, so this is much better.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Nothing!

**Recommendations to others considering Gusto:**

If you don’t have much understanding of all the details surrounding payroll, get Gusto!! They’re amazing and make it so easy for you.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto sends reminders and makes onboarding very easy, so new employees don't miss anything important. It reminds us when payroll is due and takes out all the benefits and taxes with just a few clicks. We don't worry about missing a step or paying people late, and it saves us so much time, energy, and anxiety.

  ### 15. Intuitive Payroll Setup with Helpful Proactive Notifications

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron W. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Fairly simple and intuitive interface, most things were pretty easy to figure out, even for a first timer running a business with multiple employees. They have a fairly innovative system. Adding employees is pretty straightforward as is running payroll. I also really appreciate many of the proactive frames or notifications helping you not only remember things on your to do list, but also sometimes suggesting things you didn't know could be helping you out in your business!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Switching between pay schedules was a bit of a hassle and we had some snags figuring that out. Also trying to get our unpaid time off in place to be able to deduct from a salaried person's pay was a bit tricky.

Other than that, the cost can be a little bit annoying. It's not necessarily too bad, but it lacks options and even for a single small change in your needs, you potentially have to jump to another subscription tier significantly multiplying your costs.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's taking care of payroll and the associated taxes by integrating with both federal and all necessary state's tax departments saving us significant time with back office HR work, allowing us as founders to focus more on our product and growth.

  ### 16. Modern, Intuitive Payroll That Saves Hours with Seamless QuickBooks/Xero Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Regina G. | Clinical Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto stands out as an exceptional, all-in-one platform thanks to its modern UI/UX, which replaces traditional, clunky payroll systems with a clean and highly intuitive checklist interface. It integrates seamlessly with accounting and time-tracking tools like QuickBooks and Xero, eliminating double data entry with flawless performance and zero system lag. While the per-person pricing structure can add up as your team grows, the ROI is undeniable given the hours saved on automated tax compliance—essentially doing the work of a part-time HR admin. From an onboarding perspective, the employee self-service portal makes onboarding new hires virtually paperless, and while customer support response times can vary by plan tier, the system's built-in intelligence and automated error-flagging more than make up for it by catching payroll anomalies before they become costly mistakes

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

While Gusto is an excellent platform, its per-employee monthly pricing structure can get quite expensive as your team grows, making it less cost-effective for larger companies. Additionally, the tier-based customer support means that faster phone response times and dedicated HR professionals are locked behind their most expensive plans, leaving lower-tier users to rely more heavily on chat or email support. The mobile app experience could also use improvement, as it is heavily geared toward employees rather than giving administrators full, robust control over payroll on the go. Finally, while the platform handles standard multi-state payroll well, its international contractor and global payroll features are still somewhat limited compared to specialized global employment platforms.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the massive headache of manual payroll management, fragmented HR paperwork, and complex multi-state tax compliance. Before Gusto, keeping up with local tax laws, filing quarterly reports, and onboarding remote workers required bouncing between different systems and risking costly compliance errors. By automating all tax calculations, filings, and direct deposits, Gusto eliminates that administrative burden entirely. The primary benefit to me is massive time savings and total peace of mind; tasks that used to take hours now take a few clicks, allowing me to focus on growing the business rather than drowning in backend HR paperwork.

  ### 17. Centralized Payroll with Room for Smoother Performance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andres A. | Industry Innovation Intern, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to track my payroll, and it solves my problems by putting the money directly into my bank account, which I find very helpful. I like how Gusto helps input my hours into the platform, making it easy for my employer to pay me. I really like the time tracking feature and the cash flow graph. Additionally, I appreciate how everything is centralized; it makes it easy for me to ensure that I'm being paid for all the work I do. Also, the initial setup of Gusto was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think the website could run smoother. And it takes long to load sometimes.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to track my payroll, and it places my earnings directly into my bank account. It helps input my hours, simplifying payments from my employer. I appreciate how everything is centralized, making it easy to ensure I'm compensated for all my work.

  ### 18. Easy Time Tracking and Clear Payroll Info in One Place

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beck W. | Data Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has been really easy to use from day one. Clocking in and out takes just a few seconds, and it's simple to fix my hours if I forget to clock in or need to make an adjustment. I also like how it keeps me informed about payroll. It's easy to see when I'll get paid, what dates each pay period covers, and how much I can expect on upcoming paychecks. It does a great job of putting all the important information in one place without making it confusing.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

My only real complaint is that I'd like a little more control over notifications and reminders. It would be nice to customize exactly what updates I receive and when.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since I work remotely, Gusto makes it really easy to track my time without having to deal with spreadsheets or manual time logs. Clocking in and out, taking breaks, and updating my hours if I forgot to clock in only takes a minute. It also keeps all of my payroll information in one place, so I always know when I'll be paid and what to expect. Overall, it simplifies both time tracking and payroll, which lets me spend less time worrying about administrative tasks and more time focusing on my work.

  ### 19. Gusto Makes Onboarding and Payroll Compliance Easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan F. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like to most about Gusto is that it helps you onboard new employees and keeps you updated about deadlines and specific payroll laws. It also allows you to print reports and will file all necessary SCorp tax information.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It can be a little confusing at first to set up all of the employee information. Once you have done it a couple of times it is much easier. I was able to contact customer support very easily to assist me with a question. I also could do without all the prompting to buy additional services or add-ons like medical benefits or 401k

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It definitely helps with onboarding new employees from different states. This has been very helpful since I am not super familiar with the requirements of other states or how to set up tax information to ensure payments are correctly made. This has helped with peace of mind for sure.

  ### 20. Simple, Reliable, and Easy to Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Whitney T. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

We've had a great experience with Gusto. The platform is incredibly easy to use for both administrators and employees, making payroll, benefits, and HR tasks simple and efficient. The interface is intuitive, and everything is organized in a way that saves time and reduces frustration.

What stands out most is Gusto's customer service. Whenever we've had questions or needed assistance, their support team has been responsive, knowledgeable, and easy to work with.

Overall, Gusto has streamlined our payroll and HR processes, and I would highly recommend it to any small or growing business looking for a reliable, user-friendly platform.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

At this time, I don't have any significant dislikes or concerns about Gusto. The platform has been easy to use, reliable, and supported by a responsive customer service team. Overall, our experience has been very positive.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has simplified our HR, payroll, benefits, and 401(k) administration by bringing everything into one platform. Having payroll, health insurance, retirement benefits, onboarding, and employee management in a single system saves our team significant time and reduces administrative work. It also creates a better experience for our employees, who can easily access their pay information, benefits, and retirement accounts in one place.

  ### 21. Gusto Streamlined Our Archaic Payroll and Benefits with Easy Onboarding and Great Integrations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tenaya K. | Finance Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like Gusto because it has allowed us to consolidate benefits administration and payroll into one platform, whereas previously it was very discrete. The integrations are awesome and have allowed us to replace our previous manual payroll processes. The pricing is fair and as a nonprofit we appreciate the related discount. Onboarding was easy and I felt supported and was able to do it within their stated timeline to run our first payroll on Gusto by our target. It is user friendly for both the administrator and our employees. It keep sus in compliance and we've had no performance issues.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The only thing that has been an issue is that I cannot accommodate our current (unorthodox) pay schedule for seasonal employees, but it has encouraged us to move them to a more standardized pay period and we've been able to work around the limitations.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is solving our hourly time tracking problems (have been doing paper time sheets for hours) and keeping us in compliance. Additionally, with 1-9 eVerify it's letting us consolidate onboarding platforms for our seasonal staff.

  ### 22. Specific, Clear Time Tracking That Makes Hours Easy to See

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leksi B. | intern, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like the time tracking feature. I like how specific it is. I appreciate how it shows the daily and weekly hours. I had a different system at my old job, which was confusing and inconvenient. Gusto has made it much easier and helpful to see my hours. So far, it has been reliable. I have not used it to integrate into other tools in my stack, but that is something I would look forward to. The onboarding was very easy and convenient. The AI has seemed to be easy to work with thus far.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I do not want to create a new card or anything with Gusto or integrate it further with my bank, and the ads for that can be a bit irritating. However, I understand why they are there.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think the ROI for Gusto has been phenomenal. My employer and I have both talked about how good it is for communicating the time for their employees. It has made clocking in from home extremely manageable and easy. Also, I am benefitting because I tend to forget to clock in and out and Gusto makes that SO much easier.

  ### 23. Effortless and Simple Payroll Platform for Any Size Company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madison M. | Operations Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto for payroll, reviews, and benefits. I really like how simple it is to use once everything is uploaded. The ease of payroll, keeping 401k, benefits, PTO, and documents all in one place is very helpful. The time tracking feature with location is great for our mix of exempt, non-exempt, and seasonal workers, allowing them to log in, track their own time, and make edits, which simplifies payroll. Switching to Gusto mid-year from our previous provider was also very easy with no issues from Gusto's side.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The company creation can be confusing. I accidentally ended up with duplicate employee profiles for myself as the creator and an employee. Also, the chat feature is problematic. I was in a live chat, and the person chatting with me disappeared, leaving me without a response for over an hour. There was no way to terminate the chat or start a new one to get a different support person.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto simplifies payroll and keeps 401k, benefits, PTO, employee/manager reviews, and important employee documents organized in one place. Its time tracking allows exempt, non-exempt, and seasonal workers to log and edit their time easily, streamlining payroll processing.

  ### 24. Affordable, User-Friendly Payroll and HRIS That’s Easy for Users and Admins

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ann B. | HR Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

From both a user and an administrator perspective, Gusto is a strong payroll/HRIS system for small- to medium-sized businesses looking for an affordable, user-friendly platform. As a user, you can easily find what you need, and the workflows for recording time, accessing tax documents or pay stubs, and requesting time off feel efficient and straightforward. From an administrative point of view, the initial setup is intuitive, and updates and changes are simple and user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It would be helpful if more live representatives were available for real-time help.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Onboarding is straightforward for both employees and employers, which can be a real challenge for anyone who isn’t familiar with a payroll system. Running payroll itself isn’t complicated, either.

In my experience, many issues with other payroll/HRIS systems come from all the extra modules those companies have acquired or built over time. Too often, information entered in one “module” doesn’t carry over cleanly to the others. As a result, HR and Finance teams are left to piece things together by reading sometimes outdated “articles” just to complete complicated workflows, set up user access profiles, and handle other more advanced, tech-heavy functions.

With Gusto, benefits, HRIS, performance management, and time/payroll integrate with relative ease, and that solves a lot of those problems.

  ### 25. Straightforward, Smooth Experience for Clocking In and Reviewing Pay

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Madison A. | Creative Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The website is much more straightforward than other platforms I've used like Rippling. Unlike Rippling, it's simple to accomplish the tasks at hand, easy to clock in, and seamless to review pay.

I have not yet integrated to any other platforms because the service is provided to me through a freelance company. I'm unsure about price as well.

However, the performance is great and very smooth. My only issue is that it logs me out pretty quickly.

Onboarding was easy as well and took very little time.

I actually haven't seen much use of AI/Intelligence on the site, if any, but it's nice to go on a site without it. Sometimes that slows down the experience instead of improving it.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

My only issue so far has been that it logs me out quickly and frequently, and I haven't seen the option to stay logged in.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has provided me an easy platform for time tracking and pay for freelance work.

  ### 26. S-Corp Payroll with Gusto has been helpful

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Meghan H. | Regulatory Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Overall, I’ve had a great experience with Gusto. The dashboard is very clear and easy to navigate, and the menu bar makes it simple to find what you need. I especially like that the homepage highlights upcoming due dates and any missing items, which helps keep everything organized. The onboarding and sign-up process was straightforward, and running my first payroll was much easier than expected. The pricing also feels fair for the services provided. One of the biggest benefits for me has been having payroll taxes filed directly through Gusto, which removes a lot of stress and gives me confidence that deadlines are being handled appropriately.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One area I would like to see improved is customer support. I wish Gusto offered more support options, such as live chat, a direct phone line, or a FAQ/help center. Even a community message board where users could share experiences and questions would be helpful. There have been times when I’ve had questions that I've had to search online.

While I do feel the pricing is fair for the services provided, I also wish there were more plan options. As a single-user S-Corp owner, I’m not utilizing every available feature, so having a smaller or more flexible plan for businesses with simpler needs would be a nice option

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an S-Corp, I need to run payroll. Gusto is providing that service as well as calculating the tax withdrawls, so I know it is done correctly.

  ### 27. Gusto Makes Payroll, Benefits, and HR Easy for Growing Businesses

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Asif A. | Security analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like most about Gusto is its mission of making payroll, benefits, and HR easier for small and medium-sized businesses. Many business owners want to focus on growing their company rather than dealing with administrative challenges, and Gusto helps simplify those processes through technology. I also appreciate Gusto's focus on creating a positive customer experience and building products that have a direct impact on both employers and employees.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't have any major dislikes about Gusto. Like any growing company, there are always opportunities for improvement, but that's also what makes it an exciting place to work.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is solving the challenge of making payroll, benefits, HR, and compliance easier for small and medium-sized businesses. Many business owners don't have dedicated HR or payroll teams, so managing these processes can be time-consuming and complex. Gusto simplifies these tasks through a user-friendly platform, allowing businesses to focus on growth instead of administrative work.

This benefits me because I value working for a company whose products have a direct and meaningful impact on customers. I also appreciate the trust customers place in Gusto to protect sensitive employee and financial information, which aligns closely with my background and interest in cybersecurity.

  ### 28. Reliable, Straightforward Navigation with Helpful Paycheck Notifications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julia C. | Supervised counselor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that the navigation menu is very straight forward and you don't need a tutorial to use it. It is easy to reset your password if needed without having to ask for extra support. I also like that I get email notifications about paychecks and documents I need to sign. It is reliable and I like that AI features aren't forced on me. It is also nice that is easy to integrate Turbotax if you want. As far as I can tell the pricing is reasonable for what you get.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One performance issue is that you have to sign in each time even if you are actively logged in in another window. Sometimes I like to have two tabs because it easier to refer to paperwork, this could be improved by having the other tab log you in automatically. I also wish there was an app.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like how Gusto has all documents in a dedicated section for ease of access.

  ### 29. Gusto Saves Time with Straightforward, User-Friendly Payroll

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ceci r. | Business Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The best thing about Gusto is the amount of time it saves me. Running payroll is straightforward, tax filings are automated, and the platform is genuinely user-friendly. It removes a lot of the complexity from payroll and frees me up to focus on running my business.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I haven’t run into any major issues with Gusto so far. If I had to call out one downside, it’s that the monthly pricing can start to add up for very small businesses. Even so, the convenience of automated payroll and tax filings more than makes up for that in my experience.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes payroll and payroll tax compliance much simpler for my LLC, saving me a significant amount of time and lowering the risk of mistakes. Rather than manually calculating taxes, keeping track of filing deadlines, and preparing year-end forms, the system handles those tasks automatically. As a result, I can focus more of my time on growing my business instead of getting bogged down in administrative work, and I have peace of mind knowing payroll is being managed accurately.

  ### 30. Easy Setup, Fast Payroll, and Helpful Support with Gusto

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miranda J. | Customer Onboarding Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has been one of the better payroll processors I've had. It is very easy to setup, very easy to navigate, and most times I get my payroll 2 days in advance.

I applied early on for the Gusto card/bank account and so far I've really liked having it. It is a great "backup" bank option. Zero fees, accepted almost everywhere and I never have to worry about support. Every person I've ever chatted with has been knowledgeable and helpful.

I also love how easy it has been to connect gusto to my other accounts and platforms. It is seriously one click most times. Overall, if Gusto is an option I would highly suggest them.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There have been a few times my Gusto account doesn't work, but it is rare. I do wish the alerts came through more timely. It can be scary to see "Your charge for x amount went through" 3 days after the actual event.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having my pay, 401k, and tax documents all in one place is really nice! It makes it so much easier to find everything and I don't have to go hunting things down.

  ### 31. Simple, Robust Payroll with Streamlined Onboarding and Integrated 401(k)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nate G. | Owner Dentist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is extremely simple to use, however robust at the same time. It is really easy to track employee time off, sick time, and payroll hours. I also use the 401K feature, which is great that it is integrated into the same platform. The pricing is very reasonable for all that Gusto does for my business. Onboard for a new employee is very streamlined and only takes a few minutes. My employees also say that the dashboard is user friendly and easy to track their pay.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I truly cannot identify any downsides to Gusto. I really enjoy the platform and don't have any issues. I've also used a live representative to help troubleshoot a problem and they were very helpful.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes my payroll responsibility very streamlined and easy. It is saving me money on my monthly expenses because I can do payroll myself opposed to an accountant. I see a huge benefit of using Gusto to increase my performance as a manager and business owner.

  ### 32. User-Friendly Time Tracking That Makes Clocking In and Breaks Stress-Free

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Morgan T. | Office Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like how user friendly it is. From the first log in, it was easy to use and I knew to go for exactly what I was needing. As a work from home remote employee, i especially like the ability to track my time and monitor my hours on the time tracking page. Being able to clock in easily and take breaks really takes the stress off of having to manually account for my work hours.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The only downside is that I have noticed some discrepancies in the paycheck tracker. The timeline for the status of my actual check does not align, and I wish it were easier to find my full paystub.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is helping me with better tracking my hours for me. I no longer have to create spreadsheets and enter formulas for time sheets, I simply log in, click a button, and log off for the day.

  ### 33. User-Friendly Payroll, Benefits, and HR Made Simple with Gusto

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaleb N. | Sales Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like best about Gusto is its intuitive UI/UX and how easy it is to navigate, even for users who may not have extensive HR or payroll experience. The platform's integrations with other business tools create a seamless workflow, while its strong performance helps businesses save time and reduce administrative headaches. I also appreciate Gusto's focus on support and onboarding, as well as its use of AI and automation to simplify payroll, benefits, and HR tasks, creating a strong return on investment for growing businesses.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

If I had to identify an area for improvement, it would be expanding some of the advanced customization and reporting capabilities for larger organizations with more complex needs. While Gusto's simplicity is one of its greatest strengths, additional flexibility in integrations, AI-driven insights, and advanced analytics could provide even more value. That said, I believe Gusto does an excellent job balancing ease of use, performance, pricing, and customer support for the majority of businesses it serves.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is solving the challenge of managing payroll, benefits, HR, and compliance in a way that is simple, efficient, and accessible. Its user-friendly interface, reliable performance, and integrations help businesses reduce manual work and streamline operations. The platform's onboarding resources, customer support, and growing use of AI-powered automation make it easier for companies to stay organized and compliant while maximizing productivity. As a business management student, I benefit from seeing how technology can improve business processes, increase efficiency, and deliver strong value through both cost savings and a better employee experience.

  ### 34. Gusto is helping Employees at all levels put their money to work for them .

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew T. | Operator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that it's not just a paycheck service. I love playing with all the different features like setting up a budget and having my pay go into different types of 401k/savings accounts. I have always struggled to manage and save my money even though I make a very good amount. Gusto is helping me become financially responsible.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't like that when I get advances I still have to pay a fee to have the money immediately deposited even though it is going to the same company. It could maybe be more seamless integrating with my accounts without having to pay fees.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have never had a payroll service that helps me everyday to manage my finances and pay bills. I log into my gusto pretty much everyday to look at different things and check on my 401k. Before gusto I never had any type if employee saving program and now I am eve. more motivated to perform and do well because I can see the changes to my pay right away.

  ### 35. Gusto Makes Payroll and Onboarding Effortless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maya Sachasinh B. | Senior Procurement Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I've used Gusto at 2 companies now and I absolutely love it. It is incredibly helpful how integrated everything is, how clean and user friendly the user interface is, and I easily can access anything I'm looking for. I rarely need to reach out to HR for help. The onboarding is incredibly easy and self explanatory. The suggested FAQs and features are also valuable including the automatically suggested actions and support offered. I've never had the program glitch or look off.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't think there's anything that is less helpful or that I dislike. Something that could be helpful is better suggestions for how to fill out W4s and what the impact to take home pay would be or potential tax impacts. I don't have visibility into what Gusto costs in terms of enterprise pricing, but whatever it is it seems to be worth it and I would expect a high ROI.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not needing to check in with HR to ask my questions and being able to quickly self-serve my needs around tracking my pay, documents, forms, benefits, PTO, etc.

  ### 36. Gusto Makes Payroll, HR, and Compliance Effortless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William M. | Site Reliability Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like best is how Gusto simplifies the entire administrative side of running a business. It’s not just a payroll tool; it’s an all-in-one HR platform that handles tax filings, health benefits, and onboarding seamlessly. The interface is clean, intuitive, and takes the stress out of compliance, allowing me to focus more on growing my business rather than getting bogged down in manual paperwork.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There isnt anything I dont like about Gusto. The platform is easy to use and seamless. Overall great experience.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the problem of information fragmentation. In a fast-paced environment like ATMO AI, I don't have time to chase down HR for benefits details or tax documents. Gusto eliminates that friction by surfacing all my critical employment data in a self-service, intuitive dashboard. It benefits me by providing immediate, reliable access to my personal records and giving me full transparency into my compensation and benefits package, which empowers me to focus on my engineering projects rather than administrative overhead.

  ### 37. Modern, Reliable Payroll & HR in One Clean Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julian D. | Operations Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like best about Gusto is that it brings payroll, HR, benefits, employee self-service, onboarding, documents, PTO, and tax-related items into one clean, organized platform. It is easy to use, but the bigger value is how much administrative friction it removes from processes that can otherwise be manual, scattered, or confusing.

The integration experience has been straightforward. When connecting Gusto with other tools in the stack, the setup was simple, the data flowed as expected, and it did not require a lot of extra troubleshooting. That makes it easier to keep payroll and employee-related information connected without creating a separate manual process.

Gusto also performs well when it matters. Payroll and employee records need to be reliable, and the platform feels stable, fast, and dependable. Even when handling important tasks like payroll, tax documents, deductions, benefits, or employee updates, the system is responsive and easy to navigate.

From a pricing and ROI standpoint, Gusto feels like a strong value because it saves time, reduces internal back-and-forth, and gives employees easy access to information they would otherwise need to request manually. The value is not just in running payroll; it is in the consistency, visibility, and time savings it creates across the business.

The onboarding and support experience is also a major strength. The platform is intuitive enough that employees can find paystubs, tax forms, PTO balances, benefits information, and direct deposit details without much training. Help resources and guidance are easy to access, which makes setup and ongoing use feel manageable.

I also appreciate the smart automation built into the platform. Gusto helps automate repetitive payroll and HR tasks, reduces the chance of missing important steps, and makes key information easier to understand. Overall, Gusto feels modern, reliable, and efficient, and it helps make payroll and HR operations smoother for both administrators and employees.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There is not much that I strongly dislike about Gusto, but one area that could always be improved is giving users more customization and deeper visibility in certain parts of the platform. The system is very clean and easy to use, which is a major strength, but in some cases more advanced reporting, more flexible workflows, or more granular admin controls would make it even stronger for teams that want to tailor the platform more closely to their internal processes.

Some of the automation and guided workflows are helpful, but they can occasionally feel a little rigid if your company has a more specific way of handling payroll, HR, onboarding, approvals, or employee documentation. Gusto is excellent for standardizing these processes, but more flexibility would be useful for teams with more nuanced operational needs.

Overall, my dislikes are relatively minor. Gusto does the core things very well, but I would like to see continued improvement around customization, advanced reporting, and administrative flexibility as companies scale.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the problem of having payroll, HR, benefits, employee documents, tax forms, PTO, onboarding, and employee self-service spread across too many separate processes or manual workflows. Instead of needing to track everything through disconnected systems, spreadsheets, emails, or internal requests, Gusto centralizes the most important payroll and HR information in one place.

The biggest benefit is time savings and clarity. Employees can access paystubs, tax documents, benefits details, PTO balances, direct deposit information, and personal employment records on their own without needing to ask someone internally for help. That reduces back-and-forth and helps the administrative team stay focused on higher-value work.

Gusto also helps create a more consistent and reliable process around payroll and HR. Payroll details, deductions, tax documents, benefits information, and employee records are easier to manage and easier to understand. That improves visibility, reduces confusion, and gives both employees and administrators more confidence that important information is accurate and accessible.

Overall, Gusto benefits us by making payroll and HR feel more organized, efficient, and scalable. It reduces manual work, improves transparency, and creates a better experience for both the business and the employees.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Whenever I log in it is easy to navigate and overall an amazing app to be using. Seeing my paycheck to taking time off is overall amazing work.I've had a great experience using the Gusto app. The platform is user-friendly, intuitive, and makes managing payroll and employee information simple and efficient. I especially appreciate how easy it is to access pay stubs, tax documents, and benefits information all in one place.

The app is well-designed and easy to navigate, even for users who aren't very tech-savvy. Notifications are timely, and payroll processing is smooth and reliable. Customer support has also been helpful whenever I've had questions.

Overall, Gusto is an excellent tool for both employees and employers. It saves time, reduces paperwork, and makes payroll management much more convenient. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable payroll and HR solution.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

While Gusto is generally easy to use, there are a few areas that could be improved. The mobile app doesn't offer all the features available on the desktop version, which can be limiting when managing certain tasks on the go. Occasionally, customer support response times can be slower during busy periods. Additionally, some advanced payroll and HR features may require higher-tier plans, which can increase costs for smaller businesses. Despite these drawbacks, Gusto remains a reliable and user-friendly platform overall.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the challenge of managing payroll, taxes, benefits, and employee records in one centralized platform. Instead of dealing with paperwork and multiple systems, everything is organized and accessible in a single place. This benefits me by saving time, reducing administrative stress, and making it easy to access important documents like pay stubs and tax forms whenever I need them. The automation of payroll and tax processes also helps minimize errors and ensures that payments and records are handled accurately and on time.

  ### 39. Easy Setup, User-Friendly Features, and Outstanding Customer Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David H. | Accountant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It was easy to set up. All of the features are user friendly. The price compared to other payroll software was much cheaper. Customer service is outstanding. Every representative has been attentive and has helped me when I've needed it. They have also called just to follow up.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I had issues with employees getting their personal accounts set up. They had to use the forgot password method to create a login. There should be a better way for employees to create a login. Also, the pricing for time tracking is good as longs as it's for employees that need tracked. Salaried employees don't need to be time tracked, yet Gusto requires that all employees be included in the monthly charge. I don't think that's fair.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had a local CPA office process our payroll and they did it wrong every pay period. I was having to clean up behind them every time. Gusto has given me the opportunity to take control and process the payroll myself.

  ### 40. Clear, User-Friendly Payroll Dashboard with Strong Performance Reviews

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Crystal G. | Chief Executive Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The dashboard makes it clear and straightforward for me to run payroll each cycle, and the grid where I enter information is genuinely user-friendly. I also really appreciate the performance review capabilities.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I’d really like to see the Reporting feature improved. I find it very difficult to navigate, and honestly, I get frustrated when I try to run a specific report and don’t get the filtered results I’m expecting—every time. It makes it hard for me to rely on the reports and make informed decisions.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto gives me more control over my company’s payroll. I no longer have to rely on a third party as a “middleman” and then wait to hear back on whether everything has been processed. Now I can get answers faster, and I have clearer insight into where wages, benefits, and other related expenses are going. If any issues come up, I work with Gusto directly.

  ### 41. Easy Setup and Simple Access to Paystubs and Tax Info

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rebecca N. | Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It was very easy to set up, and I can quickly view my paystubs and access my tax information. It’s also been much easier to manage as my work status has shifted across three roles so far—contractor, employee, and then contractor again.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I haven’t found any downsides to using Gusto so far. The interface is straightforward and easy to navigate, and whenever I need to provide any missing information, my employer emails me a link that takes me right to what I need to complete.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving how to get paid and it is integrated with Plaid for pay. It took my only a minute to integrate Plaid with my bank account. Before, I would have to manually enter everything which took time and could lead to mistakes. Gusto's Plaid integration solved everything! It is inexpensive for the company as you pay monthly per user.

  ### 42. Gusto Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan S. | HR Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like that we have our own personal support person. We've had lots of questions and I think having one dedicated person helps to make sure our questions are handled in a decent timeframe and there isn't transferring to different departments involved.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I dislike the bring your broker program. It doesn't make sense to only allow your broker to make changes to our payroll when it comes to benefits.

I also dislike how long it takes to get assistance. We had a major issue where our employees didn't get paid because of the length of time to get assistance.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto has majorly helped our onboarding process. Before Gusto we didn't really have an onboarding process, now we use Gusto to have employees sign policies and it allows them to input their own information instead of filling out paper forms.

  ### 43. Still and absolute 10/10 for payroll and banking features!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica C. | Finance Assistant to CFO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Review Update 6/9/26 - Gusto just keeps getting better. The system is incredibly reliable for tracking my hours, and my direct deposit consistently hits a day early, this feature alone has blessed me in so many ways. Their partnership with Clair for small interest-free advances between paydays is an awesome, helpful feature. The interface is beautiful and always very easy to navigate! Prior to my current place of employment, I hadn't heard of Gusto yet, but I am just very grateful that my employer uses Gusto for their payroll needs. Since being introduced to Gusto and all of the services offered, I have decided to keep all of my banking needs with them. Gusto customer service support is quick to respond and in the event a call is needed, the reason for calling is resolved immediately, never long hold times. The software is safe and secure, I could go on and on, I honestly can't say enough great things about Gusto!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I've been using Gusto for about 1 year now, and continue to like it more and more, I haven't found one thing that I'm unhappy with so far!

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I outlined this in my review. Everything is Gusto is making life so much easier and efficient. I am speaking from and employee of Open Doors/ User perspective. I've used many other systems for payroll tracking, etc. but nothing that even comes close to comparing with Gusto! I'm very impressed with the system.

If I had to select the thing that is most beneficial to me, it is the savings account/debit card that you can enroll for and possibly be paid a couple of days early in some cases. When using that card, it is awesome how it tracks and allocated expenses.

  ### 44. Gusto Payroll App: Easy Navigation with Handy Pay Advances, Paycheck Estimates & Time Tracking

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** dee p. | Learner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love the Gusto Payroll App. I like how easy it is to navigate—everything I need is in one place, which makes managing my information simple and convenient.

A few features really stand out to me: the paycheck advance option, the expected paycheck amount feature, and the time tracking. Being able to view an estimate of my upcoming paycheck helps me plan ahead financially, and the pay advance feature comes in handy when unexpected expenses pop up. The time tracking is also straightforward and ties in smoothly with payroll, so it’s easy to log and keep track of my hours.

Overall, Gusto offers a user-friendly experience along with practical tools that make payroll, time tracking, and staying on top of my earnings much easier. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants an all-in-one payroll and workforce management app.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I haven’t found anything to dislike about the app, and I have experience with many payroll apps.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is helping me solve my checking account issue. I can’t get a good checking account with a reputable bank, but this app makes it feel like it isn’t a necessity.

  ### 45. Effortlessly User-Friendly, Highly Recommend

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** diego a. | medical assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like how easy Gusto is to use and navigate. It's straightforward to find specific things I'm looking for, which saves time and reduces frustration. Additionally, I find that accessing support is simple and efficient, enhancing my overall experience with the product. Setting up Gusto initially was also very easy, which speaks to the intuitive design of the tool. Altogether, these features combine to create a seamless experience that I greatly appreciate. i use this app daily and have no issues, and very easy to merge over my bank information , PTO, and it allows me to leave comments

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There’s not a feature where it can send us reminders to clock in or clock out for lunch or for the day .

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I appreciate Gusto's ease of use and navigation, making it simple to find things and access support effortlessly. It keeps track of everything and shows me with out me having to do many clicks , and allows me to add comments. It keeps record of everything

  ### 46. Exceptionally User-Friendly HR/Payroll With Flexible Payroll Splits

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wayne L. | Loan Officer Assistant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is by far the most user-friendly HR/Payroll platform I have ever used. I love the fact that I am able to split my payroll to multiple accounts, including the Gusto bank/debit account. Additionally, I like the payroll advance option it gives you to help you out between pay periods but do wish it allowed for more of an advance at first - I was limited to just $50 to help until my first paycheck, which unfortunately was 3 full weeks and it would have been exceedingly more helpful if I could have advanced at least $100.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

As mentioned in the previous screen (what I like about Gusto), my biggest dislike would be the payroll advance option. Starting out with my current company, I was only able to advance $50 but my first paycheck was 3 full weeks out and it would have been exceedingly more helpful if I could have advanced at least $100 or more to help tie me over.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is by far the most user-friendly payroll platform I have ever used, so it is solving complicated payroll platforms and that is a major benefit to me. I also like the fact that I can split out my direct deposits into multiple accounts, including the Gusto spend account, which I am hoping my paycheck does in fact arrive early to this account, as it states.

  ### 47. Friendly, Efficient Support and an Intuitive Platform for HR Compliance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Monique R. | Executive Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The support is always friendly and efficient! The platform is intuitive and easy to navigate. Gusto also helps small businesses stay in HR compliance without outsourcing HR. Pricing is reasonable, but it could be better for nonprofit organizations!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

So far, I’ve been pleased with Gusto overall. What I don’t like is the pricing model that charges per staff member and/or for any additional contractor added to the platform. As you add people, the cost keeps going up, and as a nonprofit organization, that’s difficult to sustain in the long term. I’d love for all of my external vendors and contractors to track their time through the platform, but paying an additional $16 per person isn’t worth it for us right now.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking staff time and PTO has been a GAME CHANGER for us. Before this, we relied on spreadsheets, and that created a lot of operational drag and unnecessary inefficiency. Being able to handle onboarding directly through the platform, along with employee handbooks and policies, has also streamlined the process and improved overall efficiency. Offboarding is straightforward as well, and it helps us stay compliant. Issuing 1099s has been an incredible tool, too.

  ### 48. Best Payroll on the Market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kate A. | Bookkeeper, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It's the easiest payroll for clients and accountants to use. If an issue occurs (payroll issues when a client is running payroll, setting up tax accounts, notices from the state, etc) Gusto customer service is easy to reach out to and eager to help. Detailed reports and clarity around each tax filing form and payment makes it super easy to track payroll.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The contractor payment section could be more robust. There is only one small section for a memo, while some contractors require more detailing in their payment section. Sometimes a customer service rep isn't the more helpful- I will have to close the chat and reach back out to get better help.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our firm doesn’t handle payroll directly, so Gusto lets us refer clients to a solution where they can run their own payroll while we still oversee it to make sure everything is done correctly. Because of that, we have many clients using Gusto. It also integrates beautifully with QuickBooks Online, which makes payroll reporting straightforward, accurate, and much easier to manage.

  ### 49. Reliable Payroll, Contractors, and HR All in One Place

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa J. | Customer Success Manager / HR Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

We've expanded into using Gusto for contractor payments and management
alongside our core HR needs. Having employees, contractors, 1099s, and
payroll all in one place has cut down on tool sprawl for our team. The
onboarding flow for new hires is straightforward and the automated tax
filings continue to be dependable. The mobile app updates for time
tracking and PTO requests have also been a nice quality-of-life
improvement.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Reporting could still use some work — pulling custom cross-year
comparisons or combined payroll + contractor payment reports takes
more clicks than it should. Deeper integrations with benefits providers
would also help streamline open enrollment cycles.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

streamlines payroll processing, saving time and ensuring accuracy with automatic tax calculations and filings. It also simplifies holiday and PTO tracking, giving employees clear visibility into their time off while reducing administrative workload

**Official Response from Chelsea B:**

> Hello Lisa,

It's great to hear that Gusto is saving you time and ensuring accuracy with payroll processing and tax calculations. We'll definitely consider your feedback about report navigation as we strive to improve our platform.

  ### 50. Gusto Makes Payroll, Onboarding, and Tax Filing Stress-Free

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajvir M. | CIO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use this website daily to do my business' payroll. The employees are able to get into the portal, download their own pay stubs and it has saved me much anxiety. And, the direct deposit of reimbursements works fine. One feature I really like about Gusto is that once an employee has completed all of their new hire paperwork, Gusto sends them an automatic email letting them know they need to complete the rest of their onboarding before their first day. Gusto’s tax filing features load in the back ground and never give me the headache of having to deal with all of the different local compliance issues.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think the mobile app for Gusto is terrible. There is quite a bit of lag/glitching with the employee portal (in comparison to running it through a computer), and I often get complaints from my employees who are trying to request time off through their phones. Another frustration I experience frequently is that if you decide to make a change, such as add a raise or pay adjustment to your employees in the system, the changes are automatically saved. So, you don’t have the option to “un-do” those actions. Therefore, you have to be extremely careful.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything used to be a nightmare prior to switching to Gusto. We used multiple separate spreadsheets, and manually calculated many items. Which caused us to make many silly errors during the busy parts of our week. Gusto now just lets us track time worked, PTO accrued and taxes withheld in one place so we won’t lose anything. It basically keeps me from spending the second half of my week doing basic data entry/paperwork.
