**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Not only the price is great for our 3 person business, but it's all automatic. Payroll is run automatically.  The state agency reporting is all done automatically.  The W2's are ready.  I literally generate reports as I want to and that's about it.  When I needed help I got it no problem.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Like any other program you get used to the menus and where everything is but it didn't take long.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As owner/operator I have many hats.  This takes a big part of my HR and finance hat off of me in a big way. I couldn't afford to pay someone to do my payroll and then what else would they do all week?  It's great to have this one main function handled for me for a great price.  Well worth it.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I love how Gusto makes logging hours structured, easy to use, and quick to access. I can easily check things like pay stubs, paycheck schedules, and my time off. The app's layout is exactly what I like. I appreciate its versatility, allowing me to log on from my phone and handle everything without needing a computer. The notification reminders are very helpful, especially when I need to submit hours before deadlines. It gives me ease of mind, ensuring I never forget to submit my hours. Setting up Gusto was super easy, and the tutorials were perfect, making it one of the easiest software tools I've used in my career.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There are rare occasions when the login can be glitchy, and other times where I will try to save a certain title for my job and it will revert back to a different one I'm not supposed to use. These are all minor inconveniences though, and do not take away from the overall experience.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto to easily log hours, check pay stubs, and track time off. It's quick to access, with a layout I like, and notification reminders to submit hours ensure timely entries. The mobile access and versatility enhance its convenience for me.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like how I can see historical information and the rate of pay that I get. It was amazing to come back for a second-year summer internship and see the historical pay and timing of pay that I had last year. It was also super easy to file my taxes and access the information even though I hadn't logged into the system for months!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I disliked how it kept sending me emails to file my taxes when I already filed them. I wish that there was an option to say I already filed them and opt out of the reminder emails since they were not applicable anymore.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes it super easy to see the taxes and how it effects my paycheck. I love the graphs. It makes it super easy to see how taxes are effecting my paycheck.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I appreciate the simple to use UI/UX of Gusto, since everything is very easy to find and the schedule is easy to view. I like how the payment tracker is easy to understand as well, showing me how much I can advance and when the next paycheck will be. I also like the clock in/out feature, as well as the ability to edit my shifts when I forget to clock in or out.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

It is a bit difficult to find the features to edit my shifts sometimes. I expect it to be in the schedule tab, but I have to click through another tab to edit my shifts, which is a bit confusing sometimes.

Gusto helps out with scheduling a lot, especially since it also has a feature to schedule breaks and their duration.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like best about Gusto is how intuitive and straightforward it is to run payroll. The interface is clean, onboarding new employees takes just a few minutes, and I don't need any accounting background to get everything right. It saves me hours every pay cycle."

Some of the reporting and customization options feel a bit limited compared to more robust HR platforms. If you need very specific or advanced reports, you may find yourself exporting data and building it manually elsewhere.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the problem of manual, time-consuming payroll processing. Before, running payroll meant hours of calculations, tax filings, and paperwork. Now it's largely automated, which frees up time I can put toward growing the business instead of administrative tasks.

Gusto is simple to use and makes payroll, benefits, and employee management easier to handle in one place. The interface is clean, the steps are easy to follow, and it helps reduce the amount of manual work needed for regular HR and payroll tasks. I also like that it keeps important employee information, tax documents, and compliance-related items organized, which makes it easier to stay on top of things as the business grows.

Some areas can feel limited when trying to find very specific forms, reports, or advanced settings. The platform is generally easy to use, but certain items may require extra searching or support guidance. More visibility into where specific employer documents are located would make the experience even better.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It’s easy to manage my account, whether I’m updating tax deduction forms, requesting time off, or clocking in and out. Everything is very straightforward. The app runs well and it doesn't take long to load., it evens checks your location to make sure you are in the right place to clock in and out

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Sometimes I have to use the desktop version to access things that aren’t available in the app, like getting an employment verification letter. Still, it’s great that all of those options are available and that I don’t have to pay extra for them.

It brings all employee information together in a way that makes it easy to manage multiple people and run payroll without taking too much time. It’s a very intelligent system that streamlines the process and simplifies everything.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like most is the integration on users. We can set up a new employee and have them automatically integrated into our tech stack immediately. We spend way less time onboarding an employee now, so we have way more time to focus on signing people up, getting their information, and storing all of it. I use Gusto with Slack, Google Workspace, Claude, and many other links. The initial setup was good.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don’t enjoy “the length.” I also find it harder to see my fees and everything on my laptop and phone, and I’d like to be able to check how much we pay more often. On top of that, I couldn’t log in to my account, and there was no email support and no chat, so I had to call someone. For about three months it was really difficult to get into the account—I couldn’t even verify it. My password was correct, but I still couldn’t verify my account.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We spend way less time onboarding an employee now. We have way more time to focus on signing up, getting people's information, and storing all their information. We can set up a new employee and have them automatically integrated into our tech stack immediately. We can onboard probably around 50% more efficiently and i'd like to see more AI incorporated all around to be honest. We haven't used at scale but it makes workflows like adding other apps when setting up very easier.

What I like best is that Gusto completely eliminates back-office friction. When you’re running a multi-site P&L and driving EBITDA expansion, you can't afford administrative bottlenecks. Gusto installs the operating rigor I need to scale teams seamlessly from day one.

Here are the specific features that drive the most value for my operations:

Best-in-class UI/UX: Instead of wrestling with clunky legacy HR software, the intuitive interface saves my team hours every week processing multi-state payroll and compliance.

Seamless Integrations: The platform connects effortlessly with our existing financial stack. This workflow improvement automatically feeds clean, real-time labor data directly into my weekly EOS scorecards, speeding up our decision-making.

Guideline 401k Addition: This was an unexpected benefit that turned out to be a huge plus. It seamlessly integrates directly into the payroll process, allowing us to roll out competitive, enterprise-grade retirement benefits with zero administrative bloat.

It delivers the exact performance and ROI I need to keep the leadership team focused on aggressive revenue growth rather than manual paperwork.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

While the software itself is phenomenal, the moment an issue requires human intervention, the execution cadence completely breaks down.

Their customer support is painfully slow and, frankly, weak. If you run into a complex, multi-state tax issue or a compliance edge case that falls outside their automated UI, getting a knowledgeable human on the phone or a timely resolution becomes a massive bottleneck.

For a platform that I rely on to eliminate administrative friction, waiting days for support to resolve a critical payroll or benefits issue creates the exact operational drag I hired them to prevent.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves the problem of back-office bloat and administrative friction. When you are scaling a multi-site operation  and expanding into new markets, managing payroll, compliance, and benefits can easily become a massive resource drain.  

The primary benefit is execution intensity. By automating the heavy lifting and integrating seamlessly with our financial stack, Gusto eliminates the need to build a massive internal HR department. It gives me clean, real-time visibility into labor costs, which feeds directly into my weekly EOS scorecards. Ultimately, it keeps my leadership team out of the administrative weeds and 100% focused on driving revenue growth and expanding EBITDA.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has a very user-friendly interface. It's easy to locate the section of the platform you need for different tasks with the left-side menu with icons. There are functions built in that we previously had to pull from other systems (i.e. expenses/reimbursements integrated directly with the ability to attach receipts and put in specific categories). Onboarding is easy and intuitive--we had a wave of 15 new enrollees at once and they were able to navigate the system with little to no support needed directly from our team. It's also a reliable platform. In two years of using it, we've never had a performance issue.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One function that has been challenging for us is project tracking. We have to pull reports on the number of hours spent working on projects on a monthly basis for a federal grant expense report. It's weird that the project tracking is completely separate from all other reports, and would have been much easier for us to include project tracking as a field that could be added to customizable reports.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto solves problems around time tracking, reimbursements, tax documentation, and automated payroll. This saves us time bouncing between different systems and having to manually complete processes.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like being able to quickly see a complete breakdown of the paycheck I am receiving. It makes it easy to see any subtractions, monitor my hours and track my contributions, Having every paycheck's pdf right at my fingertips prevents me having to download a dozen files and then trying to keep track of everything myself. Gusto saves me from frazzle and disorganization.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The structure of pay at my company is more complicated than Gusto's UI handles. I am able to see when my next regular paycheck is coming in, but not when commission and bonuses will be paid out. For the most part this is fine, but it would be helpful to have a complete schedule to refer back to in the calendar.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an employee and especially as a past freelancer, I was used to downloading a dozen different payroll apps and having to keep track of accounts on all of them. My personal information was scattered around and tax time was a massive headache. Now with Gusto I am able to have everything in one place. No more hunting down I9s and being surprised every April.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto recently updated its contractor payment interface to appear more table-like and more itemized—chunking out base pay, tips, overtime, and reimbursement. We're able to see all the important info without too much scrolling and can easily visualize payments across different contractors. 

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Looking forward to seeing how the newly announced AI agents improve the platform though I'm wary of how over-investment in AI tools means other areas of the product are neglected. I hope a balance is struck.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is a one-stop shop for our agency. We don't have to log in to a bunch of different spots or bog someone down with emails related to PTO, payroll, performance evals, etc. 
The tutorials and insights were super helpful for onboarding so I feel like all of the employees have a solid grasp. What's great too is that employees can really customize their experience and set up their own dashboards.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto simplifies payroll processing at it's core and makes it a very efficient, user-friendly, pain free experience! The helpful features are endless and the integration opportunities beyond payroll (benefits management, expense reports, bill pay, etc) are such a value add for the cost point. They Customer Support team is vast and there are numerous ways to get in contact with them depending on your preference.

Overall, Gusto is the best-in-class and I would recommend it to companies of ANY size that want the best possible experience!

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Our only current downside is that our 401(K) plan does not have a direct feed/integration opportunity, but we're looking into switching to a provider that integrates seamlessly with Gusto for less manual work and room for human error.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto is very user-friendly, with an interface that’s easy to navigate and makes everything feel simple and straightforward. We were able to integrate Gusto into our administrative policies quickly and seamlessly, and we haven’t experienced any technical problems with it. Gusto is quick and the website functions without any glitches or errors. The pricing is less expensive than the quotes we’ve received from other payroll companies, and the overall ease of using Gusto makes us feel comfortable saving money on our payroll process. We haven't ever needed to utilize the support team at Gusto, but I feel comfortable that we would receive the help we needed in a quick and efficient fashion.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

At times, my bank account balance isn’t reflected accurately in Gusto. However, this does not affect us being able to run payroll or any of the other functions we utilize Gusto for.

Gusto allowed me to pay my team on a timely fashion. It's easy to use. Looking at the reports is very easy, and it helps me keep track of what I pay, how much I pay, and why I pay my staff. The initial setup was very easy.

I have trouble reaching customer service when I have an issue. I use the chat feature and it told me I had to email them to report the issue I was having with my client's payroll. It's been over three weeks, and I still haven't heard a response yet.

Has a modern UI that is generally easy and intuitive to navigate. I appreciate that it has plug ins with the other modern applications I use so everything can be properly synced. There was easy onboarding of new employees, even for folks that aren't generally tech forward. The platform hasn't had any downtime while I've used it so seem to generally work properly.

I wish Gusto had the california meal and wage break tracking capabilities. I need to use a third party provider for that and it means there is one more application I need to use (and ultimately sync with Gusto for timetracking purposes)

I'm a small business owner and I was looking for a tech forward, intuitive, modern UI/UX. I wanted something that was quick to use and didn't require I did much research. Gusto is set up to be very user friendly and to have knowledge around all the regulatory rules so I can follow laws without researching everything myself or having deep HR expertise.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto has been a great addition to our small business. We have fewer than 25 employees, so we don’t need a lot of extra bells and whistles. That said, we do need strong compliance support and a payroll process that runs just as efficiently as it does at larger companies. Gusto has struck the perfect balance for us, at a price point that can’t be beat.

The system is incredibly user-friendly and intuitive. Anyone with even a basic understanding of payroll can use it. We also use the time-tracking feature, which has worked perfectly for us, and it includes geo-tracking—something that’s important for monitoring our staff’s performance. The system provides plenty of reminders, which helps ensure payroll is always run on time. Reports are downloadable as well, so our CPA and managers can easily access the information they need to do their jobs and integrate into their systems for accounting and performance reviews. For example most reports has a .csv download feature which is easily uploaded into most systems. Additionally, the quick function of all features has been great. I didn't expect to be able to run payroll so quick! They must have a bunch of AI features in the background helping me out! 

My one hiccup has been support. I haven’t had the best experience getting issues addressed, especially over the phone, and I ultimately had to find a workaround for what I needed. Even with that, I’ve been very impressed with Gusto overall.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

As I mentioned in my main review, the support hasn’t been as ideal as I would like. I called and emailed about a problem I was having with time-off accruals, but I never got a response, and no one I spoke with on the phone could help. Each person told me they would escalate the issue, but it still didn’t get resolved. In the end, we agreed, internally, to manually track our accruals outside of the Gusto system. This limited the integration we were hoping to have with Gusto. That’s unfortunate, but it was the only workaround we had after being unable to get it fixed through Gusto. For all other issues, the AI and online support have been good enough.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I mentioned in my main review, we’re not a large company. A lot of payroll processing providers include tons of features we simply don’t need, and they of course charge for them. Since we don’t use those extras, we didn’t want to pay for them. Gusto fits this need perfectly: we can add or remove what we need and pay only for what we actually use. On top of that, the system feels just as sophisticated as some of the bigger providers, which gives us confidence in relying on it for such an important part of our company.

I like that Gusto keeps everything in one place and makes routine HR tasks pretty painless. I use it mostly to check pay stubs, tax documents, benefits, and time-off information, and the layout makes everything easy to find without having to dig through menus. I also like getting clear notifications when something needs my attention, which saves time and makes the whole payroll/benefits process feel much more organized.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One thing I dislike is that some settings and less frequently used features can be a little hard to find. The main dashboard is clean, but once you get deeper into benefits, documents, or account settings, it can take a few extra clicks to get where you need to go. I’d also like to see more helpful guidance built into those sections so you don’t have to rely on support for smaller questions.

I really appreciate how easy it is to pay people different pay rates depending on the work they've done with Gusto. I love the support Gusto provides, whether it's through chat or phone, they've always been very helpful. The payroll sync with When I Work is a really great feature for me. I can export my hours directly without having to deal with Excel or CSV files, which helps prevent payroll mistakes. I like that Gusto is user-friendly and the initial setup was really easy. Another thing I like is that Gusto charges per seat, which is great for our seasonal business because it allows us to scale up in the summer and down in the winter.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish that they had time tracking software that was geo-fenced. We wouldn't have to use a different software for time tracking.

I manage my own payroll so I can easily stay compliant with reasonable salary requirements. I also automate my 401k contributions and keep deductions consistent and standardized with every payroll run.

The setup was more complicated than it needed to be. I wasn’t guided clearly through the details of setting up payroll for our owner-employee arrangement for my husband and me. Gusto does have the options built in, but it still took some time to get everything set up correctly and to connect with the right person for help.

The biggest surprise has been how flawlessly it handles year-end compliance and tax filings. I originally adopted Gusto just to simplify cutting checks, but its built-in S-Corp tax handling completely eliminated the headache of calculating and remitting federal, state, and local taxes. It even generates and files all necessary W-2s and 1099s automatically at no extra cost, meaning I never have to worry about missing a filing deadline.

As an employee, I find the user interface very simple. The home page and desktop shows all of the options in a quick to view screen. This saves me lots of time to search for the information I am looking for. The system is fast and once on the page I am looking for, it provides simple and easy to understand information whether for my remaining PTO time or my W2 form. It saves me time to get the information I need.

I worked for another company and the HR software was clumsy and the tabs where I needed to access information were buried in the navigation buttons. The time-saving aspect and organization of this site is a huge benefit to me.

What I like most about Gusto is how simple and organized everything is. Payroll, onboarding, benefits, and employee management are all in one place, so it makes daily tasks a lot easier to handle. The interface is clean and user friendly, which helps a lot especially when training new employees or trying to complete things quickly. I also like that most processes are automated, so it reduces manual work and chances for errors.

One thing I don’t really like is that sometimes certain settings or admin options can be harder to find than they should be, especially if you don’t use them often. There are also a few limitations when it comes to customization and reporting compared to some larger platforms. Nothing major, but small improvements in those areas would make the experience even better.

I do like how easy it is to do payroll as well. I do enjoy doing payroll.

Giving our employees access to their pay check stubs and tax forms really helps reduce the time we take with employee information requests.

Sometimes the system can be complicated as new features are being added. The online help isn't always updated, but human help is there to make helps requests great.

Reporting, 941 tax payments and filing. We struggled in the past with consistency as we have changed whose responsibility it was to do the IRS filings. Gust solves this automatically.

I find Gusto to be quite easy to process my payroll, which was a relief compared to my previous provider. When I reached out to Gusto, they have been exceptionally helpful, making it easy to navigate the system. Gusto also reaches out via email very consistently, which I appreciate as it keeps me in the loop and informed.

I had some difficulty getting Gusto set up and ran into issues with entering my state tax and unemployment tax information from my previous payroll provider. I would like to have a designated contact person when I encounter concerns and issues, as it can be a little hard to get help provided by an actual live person.

After getting pricing from banks and accounting/CPA firms, there was really no comparison for a small business—choosing anything else didn’t make sense to me. The main advantages are the easy setup, how straightforward it is to use day to day, and the reasonable fees (our monthly fee is $56).

Customer service was a little hard to reach at first, but once I got someone on the line, it was very good and genuinely helpful.

Aside from the challenge of reaching a customer support person by phone—which seems to be a weak point for nearly every company these days—I have no complaints. Once I had someone on the line, they were able to log into my screen and guide me through the menus so I could make the adjustments I wanted.

I appreciate how Gusto makes it very easy to check documentation, such as paystubs, and to request time off. I love that the user interface is mostly very streamlined and easy to use, which enhances my overall experience with the platform. The initial setup for employees is very straightforward as Gusto effectively guides me through everything I need to do. Additionally, I find Gusto superior to other HR platforms I have previously used, such as Oracle.

Managing time off could use some clearer visuals. Managing individual days off or getting a quick at-a-glance view of time off is sometimes difficult. I can enter my hours and fix mistakes without any issues. It works quickly and efficiently.  It also reminds me over email the day before my timesheet is due to complete it. When I was setting up my account for the first time I was able to understand the questions and quickly get on board. I have not used any integrations or AI. I also am not involved with the ROI.

The only thing that I dislike is that if I forget to enter hours before the end of the day they are do then I am out of luck. I think that is probably common across the industry though. I do not use integrations, AI or deal with ROI for my organization.

Gusto makes it easy for me to log my time. My NFP is nationwide, and all of our employees work from home. With Gusto, we can enter hours for approval quickly and without hassle, which saves time for both me and my supervisor. I also like that everything is kept in one place.

I appreciate that Gusto determines local tax withholdings accurately and handles direct deposits on a weekly basis for our various offices. I love that it automates exact tax routing, eliminating the need for massive spreadsheet calculations and significantly reducing costly federal tax penalties. The digital compliance signatures during onboarding are a useful feature, making the process seamless. The benefits administration portal is fantastic for handling complicated deductions on employee health premiums, allowing staff to select their medical tier on their own through a beautiful self-service site. I find it incredibly convenient that deductions sync immediately when the next payroll runs, and tax forms are ready with just a single click. I also like that the finalized payroll journal entries integrate directly with QuickBooks Online, making ledger reconciliation straightforward. Additionally, the initial setup was easy, which made transitioning to Gusto smooth for our team.

I am frustrated that the custom report generation system is amazingly slow, and we have to recreate it from scratch. We encounter constant issues with timeouts when trying to export historical tax data, which is a major pain point. Plus, every time a contractor uploads a receipt, the mobile app crashes, which is incredibly annoying.

What I like best about Gusto is how much it simplifies payroll and managing employee information. The price is hard to beat. It takes a while to get set up, but the customer service is usually great and helpful - so that's another plus. Once you are set up, the payroll is extremely easy to run (better than other platforms I've been on). I'd recommend this to anyone looking to simplify, cut costs and have a go-to for benefits and the like.

Moving to any platform can be difficult, particularly if you've been in business as long as I have... finding all the required state/tax numbers, inputting them correctly, etc. Other than that, Gusto has been great.

I like that everything is integrated into a user-friendly platform. I don’t feel like I have to be technologically proficient to understand and use the software. Also, the Parafin payroll bridge has been a lifesaver a few times while we wait on working capital.
Being able to compare benefits side-by-side without having to have a phone call has been very useful, and while I haven't actually switched to one of those options, it does allow me to stay confident that the benefit we do have are the best for our business.
My favorite feature is that the employees can add and change their banking and personal information without additional work on my end.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

So far I haven't had any issues except that changing the payroll periods and dates can be a little bit tedious and confusing. Fortunately, once that is set up it is very simple.

I like the graphics for Gusto, which make processing payroll seem not as mundane as other sites. The documents feature and onboarding is also really helpful and easy to use.

Creating tasks for onboarding feel too bare bones, I'd like to be able to attach documents and other things to tasks but have been unable to do that. I also haven't had much luck with Gusto AI chat, so I have to go to Google to find answers to my questions.

Gusto has really made it easy to do background checks and drug testing. So now we don't have to go through third parties. Having it all in Gusto makes it easier to keep track and save all necessary documents. Gusto is a payroll system that’s very easy to navigate and gives me all the specific information I need to understand my paycheck. It also provides my end-of-year tax information, which is really helpful. I’d recommend it to any employer as the price is quite reasonable. The platform integrates with all of our existing software with minimal effort.  All of my coworkers have had positive experiences with it as well, with the system performing well as far as speed and reliability. The platform does offer an AI Assistant, Gus, if you need any assistance. Onboard was quite easy and support is available to make the process seamless. Plus, I enjoy the cute little pig icon!

It is difficult to actually find any faults with this system. I have used multiple platforms in the past, and this one stands out as a winner. My only complaint is that it rounds up my hours on the email notification and that is a little bit confusing.  The pay stub has a more accurate accounting of my hours worked

My favorite parts are the overall user experience and user interface, which I find very easy to use. It's fast, responsive, and allows me to do things that feel less clunky than competitors like ADP. Tracking my paycheck and easily setting up direct deposits are standout features, along with the application's overall responsiveness. The initial setup was very easy, onboarding was simple, and it was straightforward to make sure my money goes through. Submitting expenses, like for traveling, is also very easy.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I am a Payroll Specialist for an Accounting and Bookkeeping firm, so I use Gusto along with another well known platform to perform all of my payroll tasks. I can say that there are certain things that I like a lot more on Gusto then on the other platform, such as ease of navigation across the platform, helpful, generally knowledgeable and friendly customer service and multiple different options of contacting customer service including chat, (which I use most frequently) email, phone call (when the lines are open) or a call back feature. They have a pretty helpful knowledgebase if you are trying to resolve an issue on your own as well. I did utilize their certification programs when I was first learning how to navigate Gusto as well, which I found very helpful and being able to add the badge to my signature lets our clients know that I have done my due diligence to learn the ins and outs of the Gusto platform. Gusto has a ton of useful features to offer it's clients, and we also use Gusto for our own payroll platform, so I use it as a user as well as an Administrative role and find ease of navigation to be across the board as both types of users.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

So far with my personal experience, there have been a few areas that could use improvement. I have had a few encounters with customer support, primarily through chat, that have given out incorrect information which lead to further interactions needed with customer support for the same issue. There have been numerous bugs and issues on the site that I have needed to report as well. There are still a few features that clients would like to see Gusto develop, such as options for Roth 401k deductions (post-tax), as one example. I have also been told on numerous occasions by customer support that I would be contacted further about a specific issue, and never heard back from anyone regarding my case. I have also requested call backs and never received any call back.

We have been able to sell a lot of our clients on Gusto's payroll services, which helps our business grow and gives our clients confidence in our abilities to handle their payroll with precision and care on a trustworthy and fairly priced platform.

I really appreciate that with Gusto I can receive my money earlier and it helps relieve the stress of taxes. The automatic tax calculation is a big help, showing me my gross income and what I'll take home. Security is also a significant like for me. I need to know how much money I'm taking home at the end of the day, and Gusto helps with that. Time off management and benefits administration work well too. I like the automatic tax filing, payroll reminders, and the management of reports. Reports are good because they allow me to review payroll expenses and employee earnings effectively.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I think the reporting could be a bit more improved because there have been a couple of times where the standard reports are useful, but creating customized reports is not as easy. And in general, the type of calculation isn't always accurate, which does mess with me a little bit. I think an area that could be improved is reporting. The standard reports cover most of the needs, but additional customization options would make it easier for me.

I personally use Gusto mainly for the time tracking / logging in & out part of it. It’s also pretty easy to correct/fix errors when you make them as well. No searching for items in multiple places. And the fact that my paychecks, time off requests, etc…are all located within the same site, has saved me the trouble of being logged in to 3 different sites (at 10pm) trying to see if I was paid correctly.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The Gusto Mobile App leaves a lot to be desired compared to the full Gusto Desktop version. For example, many items are either hidden somewhere or missing altogether and it is frustrating when the only platform you can access Gusto is via the mobile app. Additionally load times can be long…especially when accessing payroll. While my couch may be comfortable, I don’t want to spend that much time waiting to view information. The recruiter side of Gusto appears to be “half baked” as well.

Prior to using Gusto; managing employee work schedules/time keeping records…as well as verifying/paying employees was a huge task. In addition; Gusto provides a single log-in point for all of our time related needs (time-off, pay-history, time-tracking); therefore we are not required to send emails to HR each time someone wants to verify their own information.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

The single best thing about Gusto is its AutoPilot feature. If your team consists of salaried employees or hourly staff with steady schedules, you can virtually eliminate "payroll day" from your calendar. You set the schedule once, and Gusto automatically calculates, runs, and deposits the money.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Gusto lets you manage employee health insurance benefits directly in the app, but they act as the broker. Right now, Gusto’s health insurance brokerage services are only available in certain states. If your business operates in a state they don’t cover, or if you already have an external insurance broker you like, integrating your existing benefits into Gusto’s automated deductions can feel very clunky and may require a manual workaround.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At its core, Gusto eases the headache of administrative fragmentation and regulatory anxiety by turning high-stakes business chores into a more automated, single source of truth. By automatically calculating, filing, and paying local, state, and federal payroll taxes in the background, it reduces the constant worry about costly IRS mistakes and compliance audits. It also smoothly manages everything from digital, paperless employee self-onboarding to sending clean, correctly categorized data directly into accounting software like QuickBooks.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to receive forms and documents from my workplace and to get my biweekly pay. It makes receiving my paycheck very fast and effective. I love that I could easily insert my banking information, having my paycheck be directly deposited into my account was a game-changer. Gusto is easy to navigate, and I could quickly pick up how to use the app when I first downloaded it. It effectively helps me stay up to date with documents. The app helped me at every step when inputting my banking information, and I was significantly satisfied when I was able to set up my account in under ten minutes. The initial setup was fast and easy, and I felt confident when creating my profile.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I find Gusto very user-friendly, especially when it comes to setting up taxes and breaking down payroll. It not only shows me what employees will take home but also how much it costs my company to pay them. They provided step-by-step instructions, and I even got calls from Gusto to ensure I could run payroll smoothly. Anytime I had a question, I could reach out for help, and the software is easy to use. I definitely recommend it.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Gusto keeps prompting me to get workers' comp insurance, but I found out through research that I would only be required to get workers' comp if we had 5 or more employees in our field of work.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes it easy to set up payroll, manage time, and keep compliant. It's user-friendly for setting up taxes and understanding payroll costs, ensuring I can run payroll smoothly with support if needed.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I have used Gusto for over 20 years. From the beginning, learning the software and understanding payroll with the help of Gusto experts has proved itself year over year.  Tax filings are always on schedule and easy to monitor the status through the taxes platform.  I have a few companies that I volunteer and work for outside of my own business and have been able to explain Gusto's services to them and my knowledge and experience has led them to adopt Gusto's services.  I have also been able to help other companies set Gusto up and get them connected with the right people at Gusto to help walk them through the set up.  The platform is easy to use. One company I helped wasn't having taxes taken out of their pay which resulted in penalities in prior years, now that they are set up with Gusto they are more at ease come the end of the year. One of the companies I volunteer for has employees with health, retirement, and child support deductions.  I did not know exactly how to set all this up and Gusto's team provided unexpected benefits of having a team with experience and knowledge to help me set this all up.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There is really nothing I dislike about Gusto. The only thing I can think of is when they change the platform, the reports might be generated from different drop down screens but using the chat option gives instant results..

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I like the performance section for recording and tracking goals. I like that the manager can see it and it makes it an easy platform to measure success. Being able to see your past reviews also helps when writing yours each time.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don't think there is anything specific that I don't like about Gusto. The features are user friendly. It is easy to track past documents you have been provided or signed. It would be nice to have more info under the benefits tab about your benefits or links to access the info outside of Gusto.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use to track time on excel sheets that would manually be entered for paying. Costing time and more personnel. Gusto helps us to streamline this. It also helps take care of state specific info since we are a remote global organization. It would be nice if people outside the US that are employees could use it as well.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I quite like how easy it is to track all my hours from my phone and I don't have to use a time clock and stuff - I have not tried using any integrations with it before, but I would say it connected well well with the security features on my phone like the fingerprint sign in. It was really easy for me to get set up the first time I used it, and when I moved to a second job that also used gusto, it was very easy. It is completely free for me to uses so. Ia always appreciate that. On my phone, it is always super fast and does not use a lot of data which is nice in case I am working far away. I actually really appreciate that the app is kept simple and does not have any chatbots or other ai features. Where they do use ai, it is just like computer vision stuff that actually makes life easier.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish there was better support for phone apps - my phone only worked for one of my jobs and then there was something like "its not implemented for this company yet" or something. I have not had a company that used slack integrations because both said they were kind of useless. I wish there was some integration between Jira and the "performance" section of Gusto.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working remote, gusto is helping to make sure that I have accurate pay and easy time card management. This is much better than using sheets or something similar like my previous job and it makes sure that pay is always accurate and fair.
