The customization of sheets, reports, and dashboards. I work at a unique real estate company and smartsheet makes it easy to track inventory, commissions, invoices, support requests, and more. The billing process. We were sold on a promotion last year to increase our license count and take advantage of some premium training opportunities. We failed to reduce our licenses before our annual invoice was sent, and now we are working with our account manager to resolve this issue because we have no need for these additional licenses. The communication about this issue has been difficult and I hope we can get this resolved so we do not have to look into an alternative program for Smartsheet. I like that everyone on our team has access to Smartsheet and are able to manage and make their own entries. Working in Constuction hours of communication can be different for everyone and that makes it easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I think what I dislike the most is that I have had trouble getting in contact with someone to help my team on our specific needs. We are looking to talk to someone who can walk us through specific things for our project team and we have not been able to talk to anyone. We have taken a couple Smartsheet courses and seminars, but they are more generalized and not too helpful for what we were looking for. (1) stricted reporting options, it would be useful to add columns esp. "calculated columnns" to a reports.

(2) pivoting data capabilities are restiricted (sheet summary), reports can not pull into excel, only sheets can.

(3) lack of security: for some reasons in a sheetwe need to collaborate with people which has different levels of permissions. i need to get data from an editor but not to let them to write on a locked column or row, where i need some superior permitted ones to edit locked cells. the only way to do this is giving admin permission level to the editors of locked cells. but in fact admin role is a superior permission level which can change the sheet owner and can be able to make big changes like deleting sheets. a permission level between admin and editor is needed.

(4) in sheet automations for sending emails to shared users, we need to send emails with not all shared users but a stricted group which make collaboration more effectively. putting an option to select a "group" to share is necessary for keeping productivity high and avoiding lots of unrelated emails.

(5) the previous pricing method was more understandable. new pricing model based on editor based pricing is not usable. we worked with so many people and the editors are very often change. keeping simplicity is destroyed with new pricing methodology. i strongly recommend Smartsheet to turn back the previous pricing options. I’m in SmartSheet everyday and couldn’t function anywhere near as efficiently without it. The sheets, reports, and dashboards are easy to customize and allow my team and our stakeholders to know what’s going on in our various global projects without needing to ask me. The reports especially have been crucial in helping me track what’s coming down the pipeline and plan out realistic timelines for new projects. I also leverage reports to manage workloads across the various individuals and teams I work with, which helps me ensure I’m not overscheduling resources. I wish there were more options for permissions. While you can assign general permissions to a sheet, it would be great if you could assign them based on task ownership. On my projects, I tend to just give out Viewer permissions because I don’t want the structure of the sheet impacted or other things changed. I’d like to give people the ability to update the status and completion percentage of tasks assigned to them without full Editor permissions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Smartsheet is a great tool to use when working in multi-department teams. Smartsheet allows my team and me to have a high-level view of the features coming on every release. The status of each release, the team in charge, when it will be delivered, and each Product Manager. Smartsheet's multiple options to create filters or group by options facilitates access to information, and it provides the same information in different formats according to the team that is using the app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Smartsheet does not provide too many options for customization of its UI. Sometimes, teams ask if changing colors or even some parts of the design is possible, but the app has no feature. When projects are too big, finding the right tool or even the options to filter can get a little confusing. Smartsheet is easy to use and intuitive. It allows me to create and manage project schedules as a paid user, but I can share with unlimited number of viewers from other companies who are active on my projects. They do not need to be paid users; they can just start a free account. This allows for great collaboration. Everyone I share my schedules with gives me feedback on how easy the program is to use.

I can also monitor resource usage and availability across multiple projects. Using Smartsheet I can monitor fellow engineers' commitments on various projects to see when they have availability for new tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Just like Excel, I only use a fraction of the program's capabilities. Some are easy to use, some require a bit of research to learn... such as developing complex formulas in cells. But it does have all the capabilities I need and then some. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love how customizable and intuitive Smartsheet has been. I've been utilizing it for the past 5 years, and I can honestly say it's been such a great tool to keep project timelines organized and helping streamline automation between departments. There are so many ways you can utilize this tool, regardless if you're in project management or not. Everyone is their own project manager in some way, right? But the fact is, you can gear your sheets towards the department you are in. Whether that's sales, operations, procurement, engineering, etc. I am a huge advocate for Smartsheet, and will always be! Biggest downside is that BECAUSE it's so customizable, it takes a time to set everything up to get where you want to be. BUT once you're there, you can always make little tweaks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ease of use - Smartsheet is a best tool for people new into programming. Without any coding knowledge you can do a lot of things that are impossible in tools like google sheet. Ease of implementation - To do basic workflows in Smartsheet you only need to know english and take few hours time for trainings.

Frequency of use - I use it a lot for many different reasons. Holiday tracker with google calendar connector, Feeding DOMO with KPI data, Tracker for material creation, timelines, project management. Basically most of the time in work I'm using smartsheet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

If you want to create advanced workflows in Smartsheet you need a lot of time to learn. Right now even after 3 years I don't think I learned every trick here. The difference is that Smartsheet is limitated in many ways, for example you can't actually write a macro here, you have limited amount of rows per file (google sheet or excel has a lot more). Creating dashboards and KPI's is also not so user friendly since since to create a chart that you want you need a backup file with "countif" formulas, which is not required in Google Studio or excel.

Customer Support is fast and if possible helpful yet in most of the times they are also hopeless for some questions like fe. exporting via DataShuttle from smartsheet to googlesheet with a googleSheet format.

Ease of integration is also a key point here since you actually cannot make workflow "copy workflow" for only few of the columns from the file. To do so you need to create 3 different datashuttles and is more a trick then a functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

While Smartsheet is a great tool for tracking and collaboration, it does have some drawbacks. Not all of my coworkers use it, which can create challenges when sharing information or maintaining consistency across teams. Additionally, while Smartsheet offers some Excel-like functionality, it doesn’t fully replace Excel—many formulas work differently, and some advanced functions aren’t supported.
