Talent Management modules like Performance and Goals, Succession and Career Development Planning modules are the most sought after modules of successfactors.
Using the PMGM module you can set yearly goals and very easily review your employees using a host of features like -
1. Set goals using a form based approval mechanism
2. Managers can cascade their goals to the team or can create group or team goals
3. HR Admin can define broader strategic goals which can then be linked by the employees to their own goal plans
4. Form based rating where the form moves from one step to another as defined in the workflow
5. Feedback from other stakeholders (other than the ones mentioned in the workflow) using where you can choose to have feedback over email (Ask for Feedback) or directly on the form (Get Feedback)
6. Managers can use the Team Rater/Stack Ranker feature to rate their direct reports by comparing them side by side
7. Calibration module helps in aligning the overall rating distribution curve
Using the Succession Planning feature, we can do following things:
1. Set up the employee and talent profile of the employees. This is sometimes also called as a profile snapshot which captures the details of the employees in terms of their performance rating, employment history (internal and external), educational qualification, certifications etc.
2. This profile can also be converted into a talent card for quick reference
3. HR Manager/Admins can plan the succession of an employee by adding the successors to his position
4. HR Managers/Admin can plan the career graph of an employee by nominating him to a higher position
5. We can use various succession planning tools like - Succession Org Chart, Talent Pool, Talent Search etc.
Using the Career Development Planning Module, we can plan the career development of an employee by using the following -
1. Development Plan, where the development objectives can be maintained
2. Career Worksheet to capture the roles that an employee is aspiring for and to assess the readiness for those roles.
Apart from this, we also have provisions of 360 reviews and conducting performance reviews on mobile phone with a dedicated SF app which works well both on iOS and Android Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only feature that I somehow dislike is the reporting functionalities. While SF integrates well with the 3rd party tools like BIRT, the native SF reporting is not that great.
