I rarely get notifications for the messages that I get. Even some time I get notifications for selected persons only even though I have not modified any settings. We can not send some file formats to any user. Also, users can not attach files larger than 1 MB, whenever I tried attaching more than 1 MB file the progress bar freezes at 0% and does not move forward. Also frequently the server becomes down and I can not message anyone. Sometimes it takes much more time to render an image. It also does not get upgraded even if I hit the update button. Also, video conferencing that many issues of lagging and not hearing audio etc. These are the serious problems that I faced but apart from these, there are many others. **Recommendations to others considering Rocket.Chat:** I would recommend the startups use this chat app as this is cost-efficient and also have almost every feature that a chat application should have. **What problems is Rocket.Chat solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am using rocket chat for conversation in our regular office work, so all our office conversation happens on rocket chat. The first and foremost benefit is that this is an open-source chat system and so it is cost-efficient. It maintains absolute transparency because of its open sourceness. It is fairly buggy, and often has serious issues. When our organization hosted it, a user could crash the server just by changing their name. It has considerable issues handling large numbers of messages and users, and when you accumulate enough, you will start to see severe slowdowns on the side of the client. At its worst, it began to take tens of seconds to change a room, and the administration tools became barely usable. The reliance on MongoDB is also a significant flaw. After a year of hosting the program, we encountered three major data corruptions, two apparently from Rocket.chat itself, and one after a power failure. While it is possible this was a problem of our own doing, we have never had this frequency of data loss after years of running XMPP and Matrix servers with different database software. While I cannot speak for the quality of support, the documentation was poor.
