I've used Optimizely for a year and I'm very disappointed.
They have a catch in contract where you need to send a written cancellation request 1 month in advance or else your $2,000 per month contract is automatically renewed for a year!
Now we can't get out of the contract for another year ($24,000) and we aren't using the product anymore.
We have switched to VWO and realized it's a far better product with better price.
For ~$800 a month (vs $2,000 on Optimizely) we got 3x more visitors and more features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface is very user-friendly and intuitive. There are almost too many options to choose from, but the Optimizely team is extremely helpful and makes themselves available for trainings and questions on anything related to testing, analyzing, and reviewing test results. Its really simple to use. The onboarding was short and sweet. It gave us enough information to get started and we feel like we are learning something new about the tool each week. This is a great tool for simple a/b and mab test set ups. Easy to implement custom tests with specific segments and audiences. The results are easy to read and I particularly like the estimation of visitors needed to reach significance. This allows us to plan for longer test periods or consider alternate tests. The top features are the customizable personalized UX with a strong marketing funnel approach (segmentation & targeting) that is extremely useful in producing what's asked for each customer. Also, the website performance focussed A/B testing keeps our organization more consistent with drastically changing the relative content for the better live as they come. The glaringly obvious downside is the pricey system especially when looking at it side by side with competitor software performing the same purposes. When asking senior management for approval, we always find it hard to sell the uniqueness or features of the platform in comparison to prove the need for exceeding our budgets.
It is also not the most user friendly platform for new users to intutitively pick up when exposed. You need to have used such systems before to have knowledge to get familar at a resonable pace. With Optimizely Web Experimentation anything is on the table to test. The platform is the most powerful testing and test analysis platform I have worked with in my career. Features like Project JavaScript have allowed for full customization of my experiments and have allowed me to filter out users who shouldn't see our tests.
