I have been a user of Critical Mention for media monitoring for more than five years. Despite trying other services like Cision and Meltwater, Critical Mention has remained my go-to service. Their customer service is fantastic - they respond to support inquiries quickly but do not hound you for meetings that will waste your time.

The product makes it easy to track media mentions from broadcast, print/digital and even paid sources using LexisNexis. The Wordplay feature is great, as it allows you to edit broadcast clips to specific areas to include your entire mention. Reporting is also a great feature, and users can create customized reports and analytics for different purposes.

Our team uses Critical Mention daily to check on our media mentions and save clips to reports. We're also able to share mentions with our leadership team, which helps us demonstrate the work our team is doing. The product continues to improve, and it remains my top choice for media monitoring. The only downside of Critical Mention is that there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to utilizing the Wordplay feature, but I wouldn't consider it difficult.

Occasionally, mentions are missed because the source isn't tracked, but Critical Mention does allow users to submit new sources to follow.

By far, the best part of using Onclusive is the way in which the platform allows us to track and monitor media mentions across online and broadcast. Many competitors struggle to incorporate broadcast mentions alongside the easier-to-track online mentions, but having it all under one umbrella is crucial for our analysis – particularly during an era in which many TV/radio stations are scaling back publishing online stories to accompany all of their broadcast material. The media contacts database could be updated more frequently, as job turnover within journalism is higher than ever. We primarily have experience with Onclusive through their CriticalMention media monitoring services. We evaluated several services before ultimately selecting them because of the ease of use, user friendly searches and dashboard, competive pricing and the great reporting tools.
