What do you like best about Chameleon?

Compared to other tools I've used like Pendo, Chameleon is a lot more user-friendly and built for teams that want to quickly iterate on campaigns for users.

Especially for the price it was the right fit for my small team to leverage. Our favorite use case is enabling embedded surveys including CSAT, NPS, and CES within exact spots in our product we want to analyze.

I love the way Chameleon allows for anchoring on elements within a page. It's a little tricky sometimes, but working through that allowed me to be a lot more relevant to specific users in specific moments in my product.

We've used it for new user onboarding, surveys, and feature releases which all worked well. I'm excited to try out support and other items. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

In the early phases, we had trouble getting all of our filters correct to make sure messages only appeared in certain spots.

I recommend teams work with UX/Engineering to set up rules of the road to enable an easier process for launching things via the tools. I had trust issues with just utilizing the Chameleon previewing messages in the tool and would deploy to our staging environment.

Some formatting stuff can look weird when you put it in (like bolding or hyperlinking items), but otherwise I think anyone that spends a few hours with this will pick it up quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

Creating deeper feedback loops with our users

Reducing friction during the early phases of onboarding

Allowing us to create nudges within product using tool tip

Chameleon is benefiting us by creating low lift solutions for us to connect with our users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Chameleon?

I really appreciate the depth Chameleon offers from a product adoption standpoint. There are many capabilities that allow you to create pretty much native level looking experiences and additionally there are many intriguing features such as Interactive Demos or HelpBar that enable us to going one step above the regular customer engagement. Overall, creating common flows is very playful and intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

This might be due to our complexities and the way our product is designed but we have encountered situations where we had to be discovering occasional workarounds to be able to display experiences for our users the way we intended. On the other hand, the level of support we have been getting has been top notch from day 1. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Chameleon extensively to drive overal product adoption and collect user feedback. Additionally we rely heavily on Chameleon to drive conversions from free to paid plans Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Chameleon?

Chameleon is very easy to use overall, easy to integrate into the product and also easy to implement within the team. Whenever I have an issue, the support team is quick to help me, but the help page works in most cases so there is no need to contact support. We use Chameleon in many cases, and whenever we need help understanding which functionality we should use for the idea we have, the account manager helps us as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

At this point, I'm bothered by the TAGs management, since I can't delete TAGs with users emails, and also to make users part of a TAG takes a long time when you're dealing with a long list. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Chameleon mostly to deliver experiences that are not built into our product interface, to facilitate product adoption, and also for times when there is a need to notify customers about surplus in their plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Chameleon?

Implementation for Chameleon was incredibly seamless, and we had our first tours and a feedback survey running in a matter of days. The strength of the platform is its versatility - we've been able to build from basic tooltips to complex multi-step product tours without having to craft custom code or use any developer time.

The WYSIWYG editor permits non-tech contributors to effortlessly craft and update tours, and has significantly reduced our development team workload. Integrating with our existing tech stack went smoothly, and the platform mixes well with our product analytics software to give us awesome insights into interaction and completion rate of tours.

The micro surveys feature has become an unexpected favourite for our product team, helping us gather real-time feedback from users at crucial moments in their journey.

The combination of out-of-the-box features and the option for deeper customization via CSS or HTML makes Chameleon stand out as a powerful, all-in-one solution.

The support has been terrific, and Rhi Roberts has taken such extraordinary care to ensure we get the most out of this platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

The analytics dashboard, while functional, could be more intuitive and offer deeper insights. This is fine for us as we mainly stream Chameleon Data to our Product Analytics tool but its worth mentioning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

New users were getting easily list in our product interface, leading to high dropout rates during onboarding and increasing burden in our customer success team. Users also weren't discovering or utilizing our full feature set, which meant it limited their product value realization and increased churn risk. Previously any change to in-app guidance required developer resources, which created bottlenecks and slowed our ability to respond to user needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Chameleon?

The promise of Chameleon far exceeds what it does in reality. The best thing is their marketing, which admittedly is quite good. The problem though is if you are going to do that much work for marketing, your product needs to deliver. Unfortunately, Chameleon does not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

I hate writing a review like this and I don’t have an axe to grind, but I dislike almost everything about Chameleon after being a customer for what I feel is a long time for SaaS (just over 2 years). Their overall product is hard to use in practice, buggy in a lot of areas and insufficient in most. Compared to other products in this category they fall short in every way. I might not feel this way if they were much cheaper but they aren't. They price themselves at the premium end of the cost scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tried to use it to help user onboarding, messaging and activation. It was key for us to try to target new users that sign up, and how to activate them the best way to try to maximize their time to value of our product which would in turn help our ability to upgrade them to our paid subscriptions. Response from Pulkit Agrawal of Chameleon

Hi, as one of the Chameleon co-founders, I'm super disappointed to hear we've failed to meet your expectations :-( I'm also surprised as this feedback caught us off guard -- I don't think we knew you were finding Chameleon buggy and insufficient or finding it hard to use. Of course we can improve the product but I wonder if we can give you value more quickly and directly by doing some of the heavy-lifting on your behalf -- if you do want to succeed then please drop me an email (pulkit @ chameleon dot io) or book time with me below and I'll be happy to chat and support. There's no judgement or retribution for a bad review so don't be afraid of that, and I hope you do get in touch, so that we can also be re-assured that this is a real review from a real customer :)

What do you like best about Chameleon?

Chameleon was easy to implement and figure out right from the start. As our organization has grown and our needs have evolved, it's been a delight to see that Chameleon has nearly all the features we needed that we didn't know we would need when we started out. With the super easy-to-use interface we've been able to get multiple team members up to speed where everyone is an "expert" without having to invest a lot of time and effort. Once we got our templates figured out, it's been easy for anyone on the team to build on-brand surveys, tool tips, tours, etc. The price point and the feature set are a great match for our not-too-big company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

Sometimes it would be nice to have just a little more flexibility with the tools, but for the most part the ease of use outweighs the need for customization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use this in our customer portal, so we use it from initial onboarding of customers (offering tours, training tips), to tool tips for reminders on how to use certain functions and features, to product and event announcements, to customer surveys. It's allowing us to build in a super flexible and nimble scaffold of support that the customer support and marketing teams can customize without having to go to the dev team to build and update these extras into our platform. What do you like best about Chameleon?

Chameleon stands out from competitor with its clean and easy to use interface. We tried out a competitor but ultimately went with Chameleon due to its ease of use and more competitive price point. I like the way that it looks when it overlays on or website and how we can adjust without much trouble. The tooltips, tours and surveys are very helpful for us, and for our customers. I like that they're trying to incorporate AI into their tools - this is really important to us. It was really easy to integrate into our site, it took one of our devs a couple of hours and since then, we haven't had to use dev help at all to make the tool work, which is super helpful.

Update: after using Chameleon for more than a year, it continues to be helpful and an important part of our user experience. It is so nice to have a streamlined way to share new content and features with our users through tooltips, tours and announcements...but also to have our ongoing launcher where we can have on demand training and FAQs. We're excited to continue using this and improving our user experience and overall engagement with our product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

Sometimes the editor isn't quite as intuitive as I wish it was, but once I've gone through and done it a few times, it gets easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have a lot of users from various places around the world and using something like Chameleon for easy self serve adoption is realy important to us. Instead of us having to do a lot of virtual training - our ultimate goal with Chameleon is for a seamless start for users to get started right away without having to wait for a training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Chameleon?

As somebody continually exposed to new platforms and applications, it's rare to find one that's so quick to get up and running with, and where you can find pretty much everything you want without even having to refer to the documentation. Chameleon was this simple - within minutes it was possible to get to grips with all of the key basics, and every time I found myself thinking "I wonder if I can tweak this thing" - then lo and behold, yes you could! We haven't even begun to scratch the surface of what it can do (I'm looking forward to playing with Launchers) but already it's allowing us to dramatically improve the quality of in-platform help in our applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

The only real annoyance with Chameleon - and something that's probably unavoidable - is the fact that sometimes the builder panels open in the "wrong" place. Maybe there could be an option to "dock" them on one side of the screen, like browser dev tools? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

We're using Chameleon to (a) give new users a gentle introduction to our products and (b) to demonstrate how to use new product features. In the fullness of time, we'll probably expand this to provide full self-service onboarding for users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Chameleon?

I love the integrations in Chameleon. It's great being able to really customize a user segment in Heap, and then pull the segment into Chameleon to use as a targeted segment for a tour. It really expands the power of Chameleon and hones my ability to target just the right user.

I also like the pre-configured quick buttons in the builder, like the automatic progress tracker and the delight animation. I also like the banner option where I can add an announcement at the top of the browser, and it moves the browser contents down rather than covering them.

Also, my experience with the support team was really great. We recently had an issue that we had screen shots of, but couldn't replicate. Max on Chameleon's support team did some impressive research and figured out what went wrong. I have had nothing but great experiences with Chameleon's support team. The set the bar very high. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

I wish that I had a little more freedom to arrange elements horizontally within a guide. Sometimes it's ideal to have an image aligned next to some copy instead of above or below the copy. I'd also love to be able to adjust alignment and other design elements without having to use CSS; however, it's still doable with CSS, which is the most important thing for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Chameleon to quickly communicate product changes to customers, as well as help them quickly find KB articles and other helpful information to fast-track onboarding and product education. We find it's more effective than email and ensures that our customers receive important notifications about new features, upcoming maintenance, etc., that may affect them. They're also more likely to become successful using the product, which greatly improves a customer's time to value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ease of use and customization is key for us! Its our immediate go-to tool for getting announcements and information to our customers. What do you dislike about Chameleon?

I can't think of anything! The Chameleon team keeps us informed of feature updates and future developments which is greatly appreciated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

At a moments notice, we're able to get immediate updates to our users. Whether it be new features, areas of our product we're looking to drive adoption, or satisfaction surveys - Chameleon helps us achieve it all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Chameleon?

Our organization loves using Chameleon to connect with our digital community. We use it to build onboarding tours, announce events, and publish new content partner announcements. The ease of use and implementation have allowed us to build tours, banners, and pop-up announcements consistently. Whenever we meet with our dedicated customer support team member, our questions are always answered and we walk away feeling confident and supported. They are always there to brainstorm with us for best use cases. Chameleon easily integrates with our product and our technical questions are always answered. We go into our dashboard weekly to monitor engagement and find the data to be easy to understand and use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chameleon?

The only challenge we have is that there is part of our product that doesn't integrate with Chameleon so we lose a segment of our audience. However, the customer support and product teams are eager to continue working on a solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chameleon solving and how is that benefiting you?

With rapid user growth and a limited internal team, we use Chameleon to automate our onboarding in a very customizable and connected way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
