You can see some notes from other providers the patient has visited. Sometimes you can send faxes from inside the program (when it works) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything else
-notes take a long time and are clunky to complete
-unable to pull forward previous dx if encounters completed by another provider. Making notes a nightmare if you're covering for someone else.
-unable to choose your own diagnosis as something different or less specific will autopopulate
-the whole check in and check out process which many practices force providers to do. Adds 7-10 mins per note
-when putting in cases while on call, defaults to on-call provider instead of the provider who is responsible for the patient
-every time you open a note from another provider, it goes to your open documents and stays there until you close it. Hence I have almost 900 open documents in my inbox.
-many more. Just get an actual emr like epic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is somewhat easy to naviage as the topics are condensed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It limited on the catergories which sometimes makes it difficult to find documents your looking for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's great - customizations are wonderful, work is easily shared and reassigned. Access tracking is top tier, and patient accessibility and understanding is quality. We've been very happy at all levels of care with this product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Like all EMR, it takes some serious getting used to. Thankfully, the learning curve with this, like other Athena products, is so much less steep than with others. Taking a practice from paper to Cerner should be an olympic sport. Taking a practice from paper to AthenaOne is high school states. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Online EMR, number of features, integrated online fax Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Terrible business practices. signed a agreement for a percentage of my collections. After two years, Athena raised rates on me despite our agreement saying otherwise. Tried to force me to sign a different contract. Also terrible customer service. Constantly changing CSM. Terrible "enhanced billing" where you are still having to do the bulk of the work for backend and front end billing. Athena also makes it difficult to switch to a different EMR and essentially holds you hostage. Would definitely NOT recommend to colleagues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The system itself does seem to be good once it is setup, however, setup is horrible, confusing, and the "team" assigned may know less than you do about how the system works. Support after implementation is good enough, however, it does not come pre-setup with any reasonable amount of pre-formatted tools, reports, workflows, or basically anything to operate a standard medical practice. Disgusting. I can't really say I like anything about it to be honest. It is non-intuitive in workflows and you can't even get an easy to see daily dashboard of activity, payments, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

AthenaOne does close loops for processes. The system intentionally directs data where it should go on clinical side. Also, it makes an effort to respond to customer concerns and ideas- which you are able to vote on in Success Community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
All things RCM. We are an FQHC/ CHC and our business model was courted by Athena- they weren't ready then & they are still not responsive to serious concerns brought forth, to point we are financially at risk. The EHR & scheduling is fine; the billing & RCM components ( and new Dental EHR) and struggling, and customers are the ones paying ( because Athena takes first cut, regardless). I expected they would care that, for example, their system doesn't attach secondary payers- nope. Why shouldn't they? It matters when your customer is poor and secondary payer is important! I like that the interface is purple. Also, for the most part it's easy to use. I really like Athena text. The scheduling is probably the easiest part of the program. Labeling and organizing documents is pretty easy too. I also like that it doesn't take long to verify most insurances Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Athena can make things way more complicated than they need to be. The worst thing is prescriptions. Not being able to close prescriptions and instead the only option is to deny them is honestly a nightmare. replying to patient cases is also unnecessarily difficult Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The sections in a patient record are well organized and common symptoms are available to click on, saving time on typing. I like there are pictures beside each patient name to make finding their records faster and easier. There is also a sign in page of all the providers so it is easy to keep track of who saw and participated in record keeping of the patient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is lag when scrolling through the different pages of the record. It is also not easy to communicate with the health care provider when a scribe is finished with the chart or not. An improvement would be some type of clickable or written notification between the scribe and health care provider. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The clinical side of Athena is excellent. They also work closely with their clients to grow the product and improve and modernize the workflows. The product is fairly intuitive once you start working with it. The team works hard to ensure that the community is succeeding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We are a direct pay practice, so our metrics differ from what Athena usually watches as part of their KPIs. We've worked with Athena customer service and direct training to find ways to work around this, but we had to do it all on our own. We found workarounds to make the system work for us. It was challenging and exhausting at the beginning and during implementation, but it's worked out that we have efficient workflows, so it is all good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
