It has features that are very user friendly and also easy to learn.
It covers all the aspects of Fleet management. Be it Safety and Compliance, Maintenance, Dispatch, Planning or any other.

The things I like most about Samsara are: the ease of navigating the dashboard, the various reports that can be pulled, the ease of tracking HOS and violations, the ability to pull dash cam footage in the event of an accident or near miss and use it as a training tool, can track your units and assests in real time (as long as they are in a good service are).

When drivers are in bad service areas their logs books appear to not work correctly, at the time they reflect false information to the driver untill the GPS come back into service and then it uploads the correct data the driver could not see. This causes confusion and worry for drivers as they think their log is wrong or in violation and in the event they get stop by a DOT officer they may be issued a ticket.
The second dislike I have is how the system flags potential violations when travelling in two different regions. I feel that potential violations should be flagged with a different color other then red. When it is flagged in red the driver and administrator think there is a violation in the log when their actually is no violation. This takes extra time in the back office to recalculate drivers hours to ensure they are not in an actual violation and try to explain to the driver why it is flagging them. I undertsand these violations do not show up in a roadside transfer if done correctly, however when you have drivers that are not great with technology, sometimes they just pass over their log without locking it first and when red flags are seen in the logs it prompts deeper inspections from the DOT. As a short-haul company using Samsara, we would benefit from a dashboard that displays only the data required by regulations, while keeping all other information hidden. While all the data is useful, it complicates matters during roadside inspections.
Drivers utilizing the short-haul exception in §395.1(e)(1) are required to report and return to their normal work reporting location within 14 consecutive hours and stay within a 150-air-mile radius of that location. When a driver exceeds the 150-air-mile radius or fails to return to the normal work reporting location, we receive a notification in the driver's log stating: "U.S Short Haul: Disabled - Driver violated location eligibility." However, Samsara does not recognize this as an Hours of Service (HOS) violation, and there is currently no report we can generate to identify these instances.
It would be incredibly beneficial for us if this situation were classified as an HOS violation for all short-haul drivers. Samsara needs to enhance its services to better support companies with drivers operating under the short-haul exception.

Several areas in our business have seen dramatic improvement since implementing Samsara:
1) Customer Support - Our customers typically had to call in to our call center and ask about a truck's ETA. Our teams could only give vague answers. Now, we have full transparency and live ETAs. Game changer.
2) Data Access - utilizing Samsara's API access and robust documentation, data can easily integrate with other systems, including our CRM. This allowed us to create custom automations and workflows company-wide.
3) Risk - Accidents are inevitable and expensive. Integrated cameras with Samsara's intuitive software has already paid for itself.
4) Employee Satisfaction - From a driver standpoint, satisfaction is at an all-time high. Drivers now have clear expectations of metrics based on metrics from Samasara. Competitive competitions are in full swing. Executive leadership has access to the data they need, and any employee needing access to transportation can quickly and easily see relevant data.
5) Unlimited users is a major plus.

When we are cycling out vehicles with Samsara installed, we always remove the devices before cycling out. When removing we sometimes have to cut the wire to the camera, keeping us from being able to reuse the camera that we are paying for (bc still under contract). It would be a more effective design if the wire to the camera was plug-in rather than fixed. This is often an issue with vehicles that we have to cycle out due to accidents where pulling a wire out is nearly impossible due to front end damage. Avis collecté par et hébergé sur G2.com.

I find using a desktop computer tends to work better than a smartphone or tablet.

When we have experienced issues, the actual help is lacking. Reviewing videos and screen shots and not being able to talk to a real person has many, many challenges. Although, I had a recent cusotmer service experience that was better AND we not only resolved the issue quickly, I was able to truly learn the process better. I hope this is a trend.
Qualify of images can be lacking, even when done in hi-def. Can't make out license plates or logos on trucks for example.
Fob or tokens did not work for consistency of driver vs passenger. Because of the "bluetooth" connection they were unreliable. We had and still have a lot of trouble with these and have had to spend a lot of time and money switching to a different system. The technology with the swiping of the token/fob will hopfully resolve all the issues.

Customer Support is great, had a few issues at the beginning of our initial fleet setup, swapped out and upgraded a few asset devices and we were good to go. The app is really easy to use, and getting set up and integrated into our system was just a matter of following instructions. We use them everyday. Sometimes if the asset is outside of cell service, even the GPS tracking via satellite takes some time. As far as Samsara goes, I have had 3-4 different sales reps, seems like they switch a little too often, you build a relationship and their gone the next second and your starting over.
