VMware VSAN is a highly efficient, scalable and fully integrated solution managed through vCenter. Some of the advantages include..
Reducing TCO: By using already available hardware instead of buying new. Spinning disks can be used with SSDs to increase storage capacity with substantial increase in performance compared to an all spinning disk Storage array.
Scalability: Doesn't require expensive, proprietary hardware and off-the-shelf hardware can be used for increases in speed/capacity.
Management: Tightly integrated with the already familiar interface of vCenter which is used for everyday management and implementation.
Data Resiliency: Includes features like snapshots, replication and data migration for data resiliency and disaster recovery.
Overall a very good addition to the VMware suite or products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The cost can be a bit of a hurdle specially for small businesses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Less setup time and easier to deploy. Only one datastore to manage Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Putting a host into maintenance mode takes a lot longer Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's in my honest opinion, the single most robust, easy to setup and optimize at scale solution that's present on the market. I don't see a rival anytime soon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing much to add. Although, it'd be great to have it licensed alongwith vSphere Enterprise plus license. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Cost to performance ratio, much cheaper than enterprise solutions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some missing features such as ransomwere protections and global dedup that we got with other vendors but those appear to be getting resolved with newer versions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's an acceptable solution to install in small size, remote-branch VMware environments, easy to implement, decent performance, if the customer already has a need for VMware virtualization so thath it needs some ESXi host anyway, also the economics could work, particularly for small RoBo setups. Basically still inferior to other solutions on the market, for example losing a disk in OSA mode equals losing the entire node. ESA mode disk requirement (at least 4 SSDs) is high for small setups. VMware support must definitely improve, documentation, which is lacking information on crucial points, eg. encryption and data compression behaviours. When counting up VMware licenses and hardware cost, the TCO isn't competitive compared to other HCI solutions nor to traditional SAN hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The most crucial feature of vSAN is you do not have to use additional hardware for storage.
The management of vSAN does not take a lot of effort. If you have VMware technology on your site, then it's easy for the operational support of the system. The scalability is excellent and the solution is stable and reliable.
Simplicity of backup, in a virtualized environment, with the necessary backup tools, you can configure both backup and replication tasks so that disaster recovery is a matter of minutes, rather than a matter of hours or even days, as It was usual in physical environments. Some cons of using vSAN are costs, Hardware Compatibility Issues, and Complexity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to Implement and manage. Easy to implement more advanced configurations like streched cluster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
New pricing model where can be more pricy when treansition from socket base to capacity base model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The simplicity of management and operations Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The cost of the licenses and the HCL that is sometimes not updated as frequently as it should be with new hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
