VMware vSAN Pricing Overview

Host Isolation due to network failure can cause the data loss also. It requires SSD disk for form a vSAN cluster, which could be a budget issue for future expansion.

It's an acceptable solution to install in small size, remote-branch VMware environments, easy to implement, decent performance, if the customer already has a need for VMware virtualization so thath it needs some ESXi host anyway, also the economics could work, particularly for small RoBo setups. Basically still inferior to other solutions on the market, for example losing a disk in OSA mode equals losing the entire node. ESA mode disk requirement (at least 4 SSDs) is high for small setups. VMware support must definitely improve, documentation, which is lacking information on crucial points, eg. encryption and data compression behaviours.
