We are very satisfied with the product as we have maximized resource utilization and infrastructure investment. Far better than competitor products.
The world of Virtualization was a magical world for me to learn and experience, and I think VMware has done this job best so far. I worked on installation and management of VxRail based two datacenters for about 5 years. I can say that the ability to virtualize and manage their servers, endpoints, and network that VMware offers, especially with VSAN, is literally perfect.
Customer Support is also great and immediate basis support is available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The product is highly scalable and flexible with growing demands of our business. No need to buy separate SAN storage. Thereby we can optimize overall performance without compromising on storage efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

vSAN is good in simplifying storage management, enhancing performance, and integrating with VMware's ecosystem. Its hyper-converged infrastructure offers scalability, while built-in data services optimize storage efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
VSAN include its dependency on VMware's ecosystem, which can limit flexibility for mixed environments. Also the licensing costs is high, and the complexity of configuration and management may pose challenges for some organizations. Lastly, performance can be impacted if not properly sized or optimized for specific workloads. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

VMware vSAN is software software-defined storage solution. When we are using vSAN we do not need to maintain separate storage solutions. It reduces the CAPEX & OPEX cost and administrative overhead. These days companies are more concerned about cost. This is a major benefit of using vSAN. Maintaining separate hardware storage devices requires knowledgeable technical people. We need to purchase a separate SAN device from another vendor. It will create huge administrative overhead for the company. Using vSAN we can save power, cooling, cabling & space costs. VMware vSAN is a very reliable, fast storage solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Scaling up vSAN is difficult with VCF. We cannot scale up one server of the cluster when using vSAN with VCF. We need to upgrade all the servers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

VMware vSAN has been a game-changer for our organization. The ease of deployment and management is unparalleled, saving us time and effort. The performance is exceptional, providing the speed and reliability we need for our virtualized environment. The scalability of vSAN has allowed us to grow our infrastructure seamlessly, without any downtime. The cost savings are also significant, as we've been able to utilize our existing hardware more efficiently. Overall, VMware vSAN has exceeded our expectations and has become an integral part of our IT infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some aspect may be complex to configure and manage requiring a deep understanding of storage and virtualization concepts. The licensing cost of vSAN can also be a concern if you have tight budget Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Easy to manage, easy to scale up, better performance, and monitoring. Ability to stretch the cluster across the city to form a vSAN stretch cluster, which is definitely a great feature by VMware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Host Isolation due to network failure can cause the data loss also. It requires SSD disk for form a vSAN cluster, which could be a budget issue for future expansion.
Always recommended to use the same hardware, so it could be difficult to expand the cluster size after one or more business year as the hardware specs might get changed by the hardware vendor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Prior to VSAN, we were had been a traditional SAN environment. Having the seperate fabric switch, having to make changes to add or remove host, was always a hassle. Moving to VSAN Ready nodes just makes managing storage easy. Need more space, Add a node to the cluster. Now, with VSAN Max, other storage can be tied to it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far, I have not seen any downsides. There is the issue of having configured one large VSAN pool, so if I rename a VM, I can no longer vMotion to other storage to get the folder names\structure changed on the storage. However, I beleive that is more of how it was deployed rather than a limitation within VSAN. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I really appreciate the ease of deployment, as well as being very scalable with downsizing or upscaling existing clusters. vSAN as a storage is very resilient, self-healing, and very easy to manage. In a few minutes, you can easily deploy large clusters so implementation is a peace of cake. VMware support is highly competent and replies almost immediately upon opening a ticket. You have a bunch of features such as deduplication and compression, various types of RAID levels, encryption, file services, and so on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The initial cost for the certified hardware and license costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

vSAN can be a truely set-it and forget-it solution in terms of administration. It is can be scaled and tailored to fit storage requirements. Its integration with the VMware environements provide a stability, resiliance, and automated monitoring capabilities.
It is an ideal choice with any HCI deployments and its featureset including functionality, performance, and reliability is continously growing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Cost and procurement can be a challenge for smaller and medium sized deployments and depending on your current licensing my increase your budget for storage-heavy virtual environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like how easy it is to setup and the fact that is "just works" with my vSphere clusters. Not only does if provide for all the options you would want for an enterprise deployment, but configuring those options is simple in the vCenter interface I am already use to using. The only issues I have seen in my experience involve hardware not listed on the HCL, or in 2-node cluster scenarios where the cluster looses network connectivity with the vSAN Witness node. Both of those issues are easily correctable, however having additional flexibility would make vSAN even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
vSAN is completely integrated into our envrionment. I like the dedpulication features. I like ease of adding and removing storage from the environment. I very much enjoy the tight integration with the environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is very little that I dislike about vSAN. All could also be equated to my lack of knowledge. Which in itself is a drawback, a lot of vSAN information is not out front and center. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
VMware vSAN offers powerful storage performance with excellent scalability, making it a great choice for organizations needing efficient, high-performance storage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
