**What do you like best about Tropic?**

I find Tropic very easy to configure and it connects seamlessly with our Microsoft stack. The SSO works great and is simple, which is a big plus for us. The support team was very helpful and kind, especially when we reached out to finish configuring SSO. Their quick response with insightful information is key to improving our operations in different matters. Tropic has been very supportive for our IT department and responsive, helping our company achieve goals more effectively. The initial setup was very easy, which made the transition smoother.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

Maybe including automatic creation from users when be rightfully assigned for the authentication system without having to manually create the user in Tropic (SCIM implementation)

**What problems is Tropic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tropic is very easy to configure, connects well with our Microsoft stack, and the SSO works great yet simply. The support team is helpful, offering quick responses that improve our operations.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

The Tropic staff is extremely helpful, gives detailed insights on what negotiating levers are going to be most effective, and the automated price benchmark tool is great for guidance on where our pricing sits for large contracts.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

The workflows and interface can make it challenging to find specific information on historical contracts. For approval flows, it often takes multiple clicks to make what should be simple changes.  

There's also a lack of insight into open requests where you are an approver but the workflow has not reached your step yet, it would be great if there was some option for notifications or a dashboard view of all currently open requests that you are assigned a task in even if that flow hasn't reached your tasks yet.

The price benchmark tool can also be a little inaccurate for certain SaaS that has a lot of SKU variance or very small SaaS solutions.  It would be very helpful if it could give more insight not just on total cost relative to contract size, but specific SKUs and services related to that pricing.

**What problems is Tropic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For an organization of our size it serves as a SaaS negotiating service to notably reduce operational expenses, our primary contract management system with approvals and auditing, and an invaluable tool for analyzing SaaS spend for our Finance team.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

I find Tropic to be a very intuitive system. My favorite feature is the ability to forward an email with a contract attached, allowing Tropic to ingest the contract, set up the supplier in the system, and use AI to pull out relative data points and prepopulate them in the system. It's really a light touch for me as the director of vendor management. The AI functionality for contract ingestion is very helpful, and I really appreciate its use for supplier intelligence, especially in benchmarking prospective vendors against others in the Tropic ecosystem. The initial setup was very easy, and Hannah Cody was a great partner in helping us with our implementation.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

Because we are new to Tropic, we are managing the vendor hygiene for over a 100 vendors right out of the gates, it would be very helpful to be able to make mass updates to multiple vendors as we get them set up in the system for the first time.

**What problems is Tropic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tropic helps us manage our vendor pool, track contracts, and create workflows for vendor onboarding. It resolves issues with decentralized vendor management by establishing an approved process involving security, legal, and vendor management, making it easier for business units to onboard vendors.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

I definitely appreciate the fact that when you are looking at benchmarks for pricing, youre able to see SKU level detail and what other companies have paid for the same product. Many times with other tools you only get the big picture where you analyze based on contract total.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

Overall Tropic is great, but if I were to be nitpicky, when you add a contract that is a renewal of another contract, there is no quick way to mark the previous term as renewed. You have to go find the original term and mark it as renewed AFTER you add the new contract, and from there label it as renewed by company ABC. I think itd be more convenient if I could just mark an old contract as renewed from the new contract im adding.

We are able to analyze our savings way more efficiently and we arent going into negotiations blind anymore. The contract analysis and benchmarking is super helpful.

The team at Tropic: From demo to onboarding to ongoing support, everyone I've interacted with has been top of their game, very kind, and responsive. The application itself is amazing, but the people are the best thing.

I'm hard pressed to come up with something I dislike. There has been 1-2 things that I've said would be nice to have, but the team immediately provided ideas for either how they could customize something or developed a workaround.

Tropic is our single source of truth for our vendor (software, contracts, applications, etc.) management program. It has also streamlined and increased the efficiency of our reviews for new and renewing requests.

I think for us, the data aspect stands out heavily because they have a lot of industry data benchmark comparison with other peers. The SLA is another thing I appreciate because they are quick to get to your questions when it comes to renewal. I like how their industry data benchmark allows you to compare and contrast prices and determine if you're getting the best deal, ensuring value for money. The faster response during negotiation cycles of software renewals speeds things up significantly, making the whole process smoother.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

I think this space is moving towards sort of agents now. Where agents automatically sort of take the first pass. So I think still waiting to see when they would launch their own agents.

Some smaller or niche suppliers are not yet represented in Tropic’s database, so expanding vendor coverage would enhance utility.  Additionally, placing frequently used Strategic Sourcing features in a persistent left-hand navigation would improve accessibility and efficiency

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

I really appreciate Tropic's support team; they have been amazing and incredibly responsive, answering all questions within hours, and often immediately, which is helpful for negotiating contracts. Tropic has provided great pricing intelligence that has saved us actual, hard dollars. Also, the initial setup was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

I wish their renewal process was a little less clunky in terms of submitting renewals. I have to submit renewals separately, almost as a new request instead of submitting under the current contract, so it gets confusing when trying to track where it's submitted and what it's tied to.

**What problems is Tropic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tropic helps us benchmark SaaS contracts and software spend, saving actual dollars with great pricing intelligence. Their support team is amazingly responsive, answering queries almost immediately. However, the renewal process feels clunky, as renewals need separate submission, making tracking confusing.

I have full confidence that we aren't getting taken advantage of by software vendors with Tropic. Their supplier intelligence helps us negotiate not just total costs but also payment terms to improve our cash flow. I like how Tropic negotiates on our behalf and has a robust approval workflow. Determining the reason for variance between the contract values and the actuals out of ERP can be tricky. It would be helpful if Tropic could pull in the invoice or transaction and auto-suggest reasons for these variances.

I love the Tropic team. Everybody that I've worked with there has been really great and accommodating, always over delivering. I also really like the layout of the dashboard; I think it's great how I can see everything in one place. It's easy for me to identify any overages in fees and overlaps in vendor use. I appreciate the assistance I get on negotiating discounts with vendors as well. The initial setup was very easy, and we are pretty much through implementation, leveraging it for contract oversight and vendor management as well as negotiations.

What stands out to me about Tropic is the customization ability on approval workflows. I can have as many or as few as I want, which is really flexible. I also appreciate that Tropic does some negotiating for me, which saves a lot of time. Additionally, it saves time for the accounting team since they don't have to manually check an Excel file every day for renewals, and it helps track budget and spend against the budget.

Tropic streamlines the entire SaaS procurement process, making it both simple and transparent. I appreciate how the platform brings together benchmark pricing insights, vendor negotiation support, and centralized contract management in a single, easy to use interface. It has saved us countless hours that would have been spent going back and forth with vendors, and it provides the data driven assurance we need when renewing or purchasing software. The account managers are proactive, responsive, and truly feel like an extension of our procurement team.

While Tropic does a great job of streamlining much of the procurement process, the onboarding experience can initially feel a bit overwhelming because of the sheer number of features and data points presented. Occasionally, vendor responses or negotiations may take longer than anticipated, as Tropic serves as an intermediary. However, after becoming accustomed to the platform and its communication flow, these challenges generally become less noticeable.

Tropic has been instrumental in bringing much-needed structure, transparency, and efficiency to our SaaS procurement and renewal processes. In the past, individual departments managed vendor contracts separately, which often resulted in overlapping tools, missed renewal dates, and inconsistent pricing. With Tropic, everything is now centralized and providing us with a single source of truth for all contracts, clear insight into our spending, and access to benchmark data that supports more effective negotiations. As a result, we've managed to lower our software expenses and free up valuable time for our operations and finance teams, allowing them to concentrate on more strategic initiatives rather than tracking down renewals.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

What I find most valuable about Tropic is how straightforward they make managing software purchases and renewals. Their pricing benchmarks provide us with clear insight into what constitutes a fair deal, and their negotiation team has been excellent at securing better terms for us without requiring endless back-and-forth. The procurement and invoice matching tools are also intuitive, helping us stay organized with minimal effort. Thanks to Tropic, we've been able to streamline our P2P process and avoid the need to build a full PO system, which has saved us significant time and internal resources. The main benefits are definitely the cost savings and the overall simplicity. For instance, on a recent HRIS purchase, the vendor’s initial offer was about 20% above the market rate, but using Tropic’s benchmarks, we managed to negotiate a 30% discount. Beyond just saving money, Tropic has made the entire procurement process much easier. Renewals, invoice matching, and contract tracking are all more efficient, and our team now spends far less time following up with vendors or managing contracts manually.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

There isn’t much to dislike about Tropic, but one area for improvement is the OCR accuracy when uploading and scanning contracts. We also use Tropic to store non-SaaS agreements like contractor contracts, NDAs, and DPAs, and sometimes the system flags auto-renewals incorrectly or misreads certain terms. That said, this is pretty common with OCR technology, it’s great but not perfect. The upside is that Tropic’s customer success and operations teams are very responsive. They also do another round of review and fix any OCR errors quickly, which makes the overall experience smooth and reliable.

**What problems is Tropic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tropic helps us solve several challenges around SaaS management, procurement, and contract tracking. Before Tropic, it was hard to know if we were getting fair pricing or keeping up with all our renewals. Now, their benchmark data gives us real visibility into market pricing, and their negotiation team helps us secure better deals with minimal effort. We also use Tropic to store and manage all types of agreements, not just SaaS, but also contractor agreements, NDAs, and DPAs. The built-in OCR and contract insights make it easy to track renewals, terms, and key details in one place. Even though the OCR isn’t perfect (which is expected), their team is super responsive and helps correct any errors quickly. Overall, Tropic has helped us save money, stay organized, and simplify our procurement process, all without needing a complex PO system or large operations team.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

Great insights into saas benchmarking.  Robust dataset.  Business team is responsive and very attentive and works hard to make sure I'm getting value out of the platform.  It has paid for itself several times over as we've been able to leverage the insights to obtain better pricing.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

Can be a bit slow to get data on new applications but that's just the nature of the beast.  With AI, things are changing so quickly and new tools coming out so frequently and we like to try them all so there's a decent number of new tools where we haven't been able to access benchmarking data, but nobody is going to have it unfortunately.  Not a dig on Tropic, just a general frustration of the industry.

I love that Tropic makes managing vendors a lot easier and more organized. The NetSuite matching feature is extremely helpful for us since our company uses NetSuite. I definitely appreciate the UI of Tropic; it's very clean, intuitive, modern, not cluttered, and easy to navigate!

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

Ironclad integration works well, Tropic has been a relatively seamless implementation in our org despite the multitude of tools we were using pre-Tropic to manage procurement.

Workflows are easy to build, the functionality behind Rules and conditionality is hugely necessary.

Support team has been quick to respond and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

There's certain fields (estimated spend, request type) that aren't customizable or removable. Would love the ability to completely build a custom workflow. There's also a lot of confusion over everything starting as a certain type of workflow, and then switching into another depending on Tropic's level of involvement with negotiation. I think being able to make the workflows completely 100% customizable would be the most useful development.

There's a lot to manage between purchase categories, assigning them appropriately in Criteria, and then linking purchase workflows to specific categories. To me it makes the most sense for that all to live under one function: build the intake, the workflow, and get it live all in one settings section.

**What problems is Tropic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tropic is our go-to resource when requesting any spend of company dollars. We are saving a great deal of time with Tropic's automatic notifications, custom intake, and custom workflows that would've otherwise been spend with us manually messaging users guides and next steps. We are able to stay proactive on renewals, and all spend requests are being consolidated under one tool

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

Helps make vendor management manageable especially once the count of vendors starts to get unruly (50-100+). Keeps things organized and helps manage the workflow of keeping up with and validating vendor expenses.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

ROI is tough to evaluate. The time saving is clear, but how much are you willing to pay to keep costs more organized, is tough to justify. If there is budget for a tool like this, it's definitely worth it. But if you are getting it to help manage and reduce expenses, it might just be an extra cost in the wrong direction.

**What problems is Tropic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have over 100 vendors so it acts as a source of truth to easily search for and plan vendor expenses. It allows us to be more proactive with vendor planning and helps us to not fly blind. It is a good system of record for all vendor information. Thinking of it like a CRM for vendors instead of customers once vendor counts start to get high.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

I appreciate Tropic's support team; they were pretty nice and offered good assistance when I needed help setting up for the first time. While Tropic did not necessarily solve direct problems for me, I find it valuable in giving me ideas about vendor flexibility, which has aided my preparation for negotiation meetings with new vendors. Although I initially struggled with understanding how to use features like the supply intelligence part, I recognize its usefulness and potential benefits, especially in the context of negotiations.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

I find the initial setup and user interface of Tropic to be not very user-friendly, particularly for new users like me trying to initiate a search for new vendors. The dashboard design is confusing, with certain elements like truck performance on the first page not making sense. Additionally, I struggle with understanding how to effectively use certain features such as the supply intelligence part, needing assistance to do so. More clarity in benchmarking and pricing details for products would greatly enhance transparency and improve my experience. Finally, the main page layout feels cluttered and is somewhat confusing, which doesn't provide an intuitive user experience.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

What I value most about Tropic is their team. I have never encountered such helpful consultants during the implementation phase, and even more impressively, the Tropic team continues to be supportive after implementation is complete. When we are negotiating purchases and facing tight deadlines, if the requestor is unresponsive, the team goes out of their way to reach out to anyone necessary to ensure we close deals on time and retain our negotiated discounts. Another aspect I really appreciate about Tropic is the ability to create custom workflows for different types of purchases. I also find the request process straightforward and user-friendly, which makes the platform easy for me to use.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

I find the supplier view unhelpful, as what matters most to me is being able to see the contracts right away. However, contracts are not the first thing that appears. Additionally, I dislike that there is no option to set mandatory renewal requests for perpetual contracts. In my situation, I had to change the contract type and add a fake renewal date just to trigger renewal reminders, which feels like an unnecessary workaround.

Previously, we struggled without a single source of truth for our contracts, and storing them in different places made it a real challenge to find what we needed. Searching for contracts used to be a nightmare. With Tropic, everything is now organized and easy to access.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

I really appreciate Tropic’s functionality in terms of solving contract management and negotiation processes, making my workflow more efficient. Tropic has been a key tool for about three to four years for me, facilitating requests for renewals and the integration of new tools seamlessly. Its capability to provide data-backed price benchmarking is incredibly beneficial when entering a new market without clear spending directions, effectively allowing me to validate whether proposals I receive are good deals. I particularly find the invoice matching feature to work exceptionally well when contracts are set up correctly, providing me with precise matching of contract information. The system definitely brings a lot of value overall, making it an asset for our organization. Given these positive experiences, I'm inclined to continue using Tropic, and I would rate it highly between an eight and nine for recommending it to a friend or colleague.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

I find the dashboard a bit challenging to follow and think it could be simplified for easier navigation. Also, the OCR functionality isn't reading contracts correctly, failing to extract the correct information which leads to issues in tasks like invoice matching. There's also a problem with the system inaccurately categorizing contracts, such as treating consulting agreements with auto-renewal as SaaS contracts. It would be beneficial if the platform could better differentiate between vendor types, such as SaaS, consultant, or marketing vendors.

Tropic's contract tracking tools have made a huge impact on our business.  When onboarding, we quickly learned the extent to which our contracts and payments were decentralized.  We have been able to organize, consolidate, and control spending to a much greater degree.

The real assets of Tropic are its employees.  Everyone we have encountered is extremely capable, helpful, and kind.  Our success managers have felt like part of our team, and Tropic's commercial executives have saved us more than we anticipated.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

When Tropic makes updates to its platform, it can cause a bit of confusion because of the need to edit preexisting contracts and adjust their details/fields to align with the new updates.  Also, we have submitted multiple feature requests that are minor in nature, and Tropic has not implemented them.

I love that I can see everything in one place. I was living in multiple systems before tropic. I also like that I have gotten time back in my day to work on more strategic projects. I love the insights I have for vendors and knowing that there are a team of people supporting me. I am a team of one and the team of SME's is really useful to have. I use Tropic every day. The integrations were super simple to set up and when I need to make edits, those are also very simplistic. My implementation went well, I had someone with me the whole time and Tropic does a lot of the work which makes the onboarding much easier.

I wish there was a way to upload all of my additional vendor detail fields into the system with a csv instead of having to populate each manually. I also wish I was able to build custom reports. But with every product release, my list of wants is getting smaller.

We have been particularly pleased with how Tropic has standardized our vendor processes and created a single repository for all our contracts. The main areas for improvement are centered around configuration and usability: we would appreciate more flexibility in configuring the native workflows. On October 1st, my company started using Tropic. By November 15, with the help of the Tropic support team, we had designed an entirely customized and somewhat complicated workflow in time for 2025 Contract renewals. We had never used POs before and Tropic was the perfect fit. 

Apart from the platform itself, which I find incredibly intuitive and versatile - and the fact it completely changed how we manage Contracts - my favorite thing about Tropic has honestly been the Customer Service. Probably the best support I've ever received, beginning from our introductory meeting, then onboarding and training support, to just day-to-day issues that come up. I feel confident that competent people are handling what I need in a professional but personable way. 

They build trust.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

We use the platform slightly differently I think that some of their other customers, and a credit to the versatility of their platform to be able to accommodate a critical change we needed - at the same time, other areas are (currently) more cumbersome for us because of that - though I suspect may not require major changes, it's just waiting for that update one day. My examples would be reports, which I believe they are in the process of updating, and better filters. 

We use ALOT of tasks and having better filters would honestly really help me manage a large volume of requests at once, which is what's happening now. Being able to filter by Approver (not just Department or Requestor) - things like that. 

Our other issue is we are driven by Netsuite class (not Department) - and Tropic is completely organized around Department. I think if they continue to expand, they will be even more versatile.

The most helpful thing about Tropic is the support of the product & success teams. They take feedback very seriously, and it feels like they are building the platform around your needs (in a good way). It's a very intuitive platform that can adds value across in multiple areas across the Procurment spectrum (spend management, requisition/workflow, renewal planning, contract management), but doesn't force you to do everything at once.

There's still room for improvement with the functionality & ease of use. There's always a way to do something in Tropic, but occassionally, it takes more steps or is more roundabout than it should be. The weakest area of the platform is contract management and it doesn't have a lot of the same functionality as more traditional CLM platforms.

There are some aspects of the product that are still a work in progress. Currently, there are some items that require manual work arounds or there are items that cannot be edited (e.g. questions in the request form). Also, it is not possible to approve requests in Slack or email, which can lead to confusion on the approvers end. However, they are contanstly improving the product and accepting our feedback with grace!

One thing I dislike abount Tropic is that I wish we were able to pull data out of Tropic that we can easily export into our accounting software so we can process the subscription invoices faster.

Tropic is solving the problem that we have with our team just purchasing new Subscriptions while we may already have a subscription similar to the newly bought product.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

I like that Tropic allows NetSuite integration which can flow the expenses into Tropic. It's helpful because I can keep track of the new vendors and expenses. It also reminds me to create new supplier profile in Tropic.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

Tropic is still missing customization feature for contracts. For example: if I were to upload contractors profile, then I would need an area to enter Rate instead of Total Contract Value.

Tropic is creating a seamless procurement experience for Transfr which is a huge lift

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

It's a good platform as a SaaS CLM or whatever other types of contracts you might want to enter as well.  A really cool feature of Tropic that I've found quite useful is the Supplier Intelligence feature, which in the most simplest terms, provides benchmark pricing and other interesting market data and negotiating levers which, depending on the application you are looking for, can be really powerful in assisting with your negotiations for acquisition or renewal terms.  It's very easy to use and when you have an issue or notice something that is off or needs to be fixed, the support team is very fast to respond and address or fix whatever issue you have noticed.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

The level of data in the Supplier Intelligence tool is a work in progress.  Obviously, data is basd on the number of current clients using any given tool, so until Tropic both builds its customer base and/or finds a way to get market data from third parties that aren't clients, this feature will always  have its limitations.  When we started with Tropic it supported integration with our SSO client, Azure AD, to be able to pull usage data on various platforms, but it stopped supporting that integration, so we lost that functionality.

**What problems is Tropic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Tropic primarily to manage SaaS renewals, pretty much exclusively.  Other than the Market Intelligence feature, we mostly got it because we liked that you have the ability to create workflows for different processes that you might use the platform for, so it gave us a much more formal, automated, and documented way to do all of our renewals.  It's also proven to be a better contract management tool than what we were using previously.

**What do you like best about Tropic?**

Tropic is a fantastic tool for tracking a great number of services. The implementation team walks you through its capabilities, and the set up of it's robust conrols you may need, making integration as painless as possible. With visual workflows to track your approval matrix, and a lot of support. Then, when you are looking for new services to add, Tropic also suggests average prices, and helps you to compare similar services. Once you have your list of services used, you can also then report on these within the platform.
From having to overlook these services frequently, Tropic has made this much easier to manage as you are promted as things are coming up for renewal.
In summary, very easy with lots of great support.

**What do you dislike about Tropic?**

Any 'issues' we have encountered have been met with immediate support & training.

**What problems is Tropic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Spend Management, being able to track these in one platform, across departments is empowering.
-Procurement is helpful. Identifying similar products already used. 
-Renewal timing. Never miss a renewal again! Ease of platform helps drive timing.
-Vendor management is imparative to a whole picture.

Tropic has completely transformed our approval flow! It's interface is intuitive and easy to use.  If any issues do arrise, customer support is very helpful and knowledgable as well.

I have no dislikes. Tropic has been a terrific product from day 1
