As a manager of two shops, one in a standard Shopify subscription ($100k business) and one in Shopify Plus ($1mm business) there is one specific difference that I experience as the user for the day-to-day. The technical support from the Plus program is nearly instant and fantastic. Our Plus site has a ton of custom code and when we hit a wall, Shopify support is able to help us through it. Also being a Plus member, we get early access to some new rollout items. Currently, we have access to multiple discount codes when our standard site does not. There is access to a few more reports too but I don't really look at them. There is a tiny amount in savings per transaction on this level too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Going from $299 to $2000 is such an extreme jump we're planning on avoiding site customizations to limit the need for such high-level support for our second managed site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

While Shopify Plus has been a significant asset to our business, there are a few areas where we feel it could improve. Shopify Payments is a bit of black hole, with them holding your money for 5 days, unlike others that do next day funding.
For larger items that ship via freight, it's harder to configure a shipping calculater.
For larger businesses that need full log history of order or item changes, it's a challange as it's not easy to retrive information.
More simple customizations for the backend could be implemented, like controlling the status of an order (in process, processed), or even adding more larger carriers to the list of carriers when fulfiling an order. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Shopify Plus brings a lot of ease of use when it comes to website design & is feature rich. It also delivers a high degree of peace of mind that you don't find with self hosted websites. Downtime is extremely minimal and you can be assured that the best tech team are fixing the issue. This removes a lot of stress associated with website management. We at under510.com are very satisfied with Shopify Plus! No system out there is perfect but they are without a doubt, best in class. No other e-commerce platform comes close. We run our brand through Shopify everyday 24/7 as a single channel D2C and it has transformed our brand with its exceptional scalability, customization, and seamless integration with third-party apps. The platform handles high traffic effortlessly, ensuring smooth operations even during peak times. The support team is outstanding, providing prompt assistance whenever needed. The ease of setting up Shopify Plus is also noteworthy- essentially plug and play while also being infinitely customizable.

Shopify Plus has exciting quarterly feature launches, but the implementation can be slow, and it's unclear when new features will be available. This can be frustrating, especially since essential features are still lacking, such as the 100 variant/option limitation in product creation. Shopify has done a phenomenal job of building their platform. Having been on other platforms (Wordpress, WebShopManager) one of the best part is the eco-system that's been developed and 3rd party integrations. The platform is easy to navigate and the site performance is way up but having a system that natively integrates with so much of our tech stack is a breath of fresh air. One of the reasons we moved over to Shopify Plus is to take advantage of it's fluid market feature. We're a Canadian company that sells in various markets so this feature was critical for us. However, while it gives us the ability to display currency and shipping options across different markets, it doesn't give us the ability to have multiple FedEx or UPS accounts and it doesn't allow us to deliver inventory based on the warehouse closest to the user.
