The Paychex payroll process is easy if you use their time and labor. We also had a very good HR service contact, but he has now since left the organization. There isn't much else I can say that I liked about working with Paychex Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is not enough space to go over all of the things I disliked about working with Paychex. There system is heavily siloed and so I had to enter the same information multiple times in multiple places. There was no way to automate settings and had to turn on settings in a specific order in multiple places in order for someone to have basic time and labor access. Their customer service is abysmal. Their benefits service is a joke - our Director of Finance was not able to get benefits access for 4 months because of their system issues that they did not seem interested in fixing and at the beginning they were unwilling to let the Director enroll in benefits via paper forms. For an 80 person company, we paid over 40k a year for services, but were not able to get detailed invoices to help us understand what services cost and they continued to raise our rates each year. They continued to mess up legal processes like COBRA, 401k payments etc. Their timeclocks routinely went offline and would go back online after a few days with no rhyme or reason. We were never able to get technical support to fix the root issue and they continued to charge us $400 per month to rent 2 broken timeclocks that they were unwilling to fix. When an employee was having access issues to their paystubs in the app and we requested tech support assistance, they "solved" the problem by sending my (HR Manager) paystub to the associate. There were so many other examples of ways they cost us money, time, and energy. I only worked with them for a year and a half and that was too long. I celebrated the day we switched software. My small business has been a Paychex client ever since opening up our Maine operation in 2005, and choosing them as our payroll provider has been one of my best business decisions. Not only do they empower their phone staff to do whatever is required to solve a customer's issues, they choose people who are consistently helpful, patient, knowledgable and competent. The only downside I have had with Paychex is that our representatives keep being moved to new positions in the company. Entering time after the fact is so time-consuming and every third entry errors out it is a huge waste of time and needs a ton of work, PTO is not recorded properly.

Paychex covers our needs from Payroll to 401K and much more in between. We have a rep there that is more than happy to answer and/or take care of all our questions.
