TotalView Overview

What is TotalView?

TotalView is a Network Monitoring & Management system that uses automation to monitor every switch, router, server, firewall, and AP in the environment, as well as deep visibility into every interface including performance, 19 different error counters, QoS, STP, PoE, and connectedness. This information is analyzed by the included heuristics engine to produce plain-English diagnostics to problems detected on the network. This makes root-cause troubleshooting of problems easy because you know everything your network equipment knows about faults, misconfigurations, and resource limitations. Setup and autoconfiguration is far faster than other solutions, typically 12 minutes for most environments. Features include license-unlimited server/service/CPU/RAM monitoring, VoIP/UC troubleshooting, Network diagramming, path mapping, port mapping, IPAM, NetFlow, Call Simulation, Work-from-home troubleshooting, Security Operations Monitoring, Security SOAR event response, MIB Browser, and Network Automation.

What do you like best about TotalView?

What problems is TotalView solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sometimes we did deployment which causes failure in product but we are not sure what caused it. It helps alot to find the culprit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about TotalView?

What do you dislike about TotalView?

Not much to dislike, but if I had to pick something I would say integrating an SMS engine to allow texting to specific admins in the event of an after hours issue arises. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TotalView solving and how is that benefiting you?

Network issues are one of my biggest hitters when it comes to TotalView, however we have been ramping up with VoIP sales and it has proven as an invaluable tool to help hunt down possible issues as they arise. Benefit? I would say time is the biggest benefit. We have gained hundreds of man hours saved just with the solutions it provides to resolve issues that crop up. What do you like best about TotalView?

TotalView is a very useful produce. The best part of the software is the ability to keep up on what is going on with your network and to find out what has happened in the past. Love the daily emails showing any possible issues including errors and utilization. The path tool is great as I can get a full visual of the path taken between two endpoints and troubleshoot any networking issues. There is also a mac address lookup to map devices to ports which is great when trying to map out an undocumented network or troubleshooting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about TotalView?

There is not many dislikes in the software as a toolkit. It works very well for my needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is TotalView solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used TotalView when we were rolling out a voice over IP phone system. The network was undocumented and TotalView was a life saver to find out what ports mapped to where and also the VLAN's used on those ports. I have also used TotalView to troubleshoot networking issues on end points with the Rx usually being a bad cable due to errors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about TotalView?

Ease of deployment. Short time between deployment and resolution of issues. Ability to dynamically inventory all network devices. Ability to quickly view and prioritize network device vulnerabilities. Quick method to view all potential exposures such as rouge HTTP, Telnet, SMTP services.
