Easy to use, good functionality for sending alerts to slack and email Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not enough functionality around finding content on Instagram and TikTok. Limited ability to find content on Facebook Groups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
NewsWhip is incredibly functional and highly customizable -- meeting a variety of media tracking and narrative monitoring needs across our organization. Everyone I've interacted with at NewsWhip, regardless of level of seniority or team has been a pleasure to work with and incredibly responsive to questions and needs. There's really not much to report in terms of dislikes. The product is consistenly improving, and everyone I've spoke with really listens to feedback on features new and old. Even if they can't offer an improvement on something, I've always found their willingness to help find solutions or workaround extremely helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We use it for specific needs that are great in tandem with other platforms we have. The UI is nice, though wish there was more custom abilities. The predictive analytics and the velocity speed are the real reason we moved forward with NewsWhip. Being able to understand how big a story will grow with a good amount of confidence but then pairing that with a real data point (velocity) that we can anchor has been helpful in times of crisis or even just general research. While it's great at those specific things, it lacks a lot in other areas. The seperation of Spike and Analytics can be a confusing workflow understanding what information can be gathered and clicked on within both. The date ranges are also confusing to use because all the data sources have different date ranges of data available so it's something to keep an eye on closely when building a search. A lot of the data in general is pretty tied up in the backend (compared to other tools we use). For example, the velocity scores for a story only shows the peak velocity score (never shows other moments in time and what the score was then). These are things that we could use for benchmarking and comparison that would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I use Spike the most of any NewsWhip product and it's hard to imagine there was a time we didn't have it. The best recommendation I can give anyone about NewsWhip is that it provides invaluable insight and data — if you want to understand what is happening across social and with your accounts/competitors, you have to use it. This is a small thing, but I really miss the ability to add more columns to my dashboards — the five or whatever limit in Spike is too few.
I also wish Spike was more built out for other platforms like TikTok, Threads, etc. There are some capabilities, but it's not as strong as it is for FB/TW.
I also wish NewsWhip was better at tracking engagement on visual posts — we still find that if we share a headline card, the engagement on those posts are not counted toward the overall engagement with the URL we're sharing in the post, which makes it difficult to measure share of voice across our competitors on certain storylines. NewsWhip enables me to get to insights at speed; by being able to use freeform keyword strings to analyse the media and social media news landscape at pace; and then to segment this data by sector, country, media type and more, I can quickly get from big picture to stand-out insight.
Most importantly, it's focus on not just showing you volume (this happened) but contextualising the relationship between volume and impact (social media engagement, talkability of news) is absolutely critical; in today's modern communications landscape, too many people are still focused on raw output/volume of media. NewsWhip makes me a better consultant to all my clients because it helps me go beyond this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lack of automated sentiment analysis is sometimes a frustration; whilst i understand the accuracy of such technology is poor, sometimes even a ballpark read could be valuable. The same goes for media reach; again, accuracy of any implementation would inevitably be poor, but being able to segment media data by sentiment and reach as well as the existing variables would provide added flexibility and ability to impress clients. It is useful and comprehensive for multiple tasks such as staying informed about what is happening in a sector or brand or analyzing the most popular topics around a theme. I am fascinated that it has the option to search across different platforms and time periods. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes it is a bit tedious to have to add new media/content creators to the platform, especially for TikTok, which is a tool that has new relevant influencers every day. On the alerts side, it would be good to add an option to generate them for multiple data sources and not have to do them one by one.
Currently, the shift to only dashboards is causing conflicts for me in grouping different brands by sector, as many brands were already created, and it does not allow me to add or group dashboards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In my experience with NewsWhip, its remarkable predictive power truly sets it apart and makes it an invaluable asset. The platform's ability to forecast the stories and trends that will capture public attention in the coming hours enables us to stay ahead of the curve and make well-informed decisions. Spike, in particular, has become indispensable to our work, allowing us to monitor the rapidly changing media landscape and capitalize on emerging opportunities. This level of foresight and real-time insight is unparalleled and has undeniably enhanced our strategic media monitoring and analysis approach. Nothing beats 80% certainty. Of course, all analytic platforms have limitations and constraints, and NewsWhip is no exception. As global advisory and management consultants, we acknowledge that NewsWhip is an elite performer in an increasingly commoditized space. Nevertheless, one area where we see room for improvement is the data processing time frame in Spike's public interest and media interest analytics. Extending the time frame beyond the current 90-day constraint would provide a more comprehensive view of trends and patterns, which could prove invaluable for long-term strategic planning. However, it is worth noting that we have successfully adapted our approaches to work around this limitation, and the overall value delivered by NewsWhip remains exceptional in our industry. NewsWhip is simple to use and provides profound - and immediate - insights. When I am in crisis monitoring mode, this is always my first and primary tool for gathering information and making recommendations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish it pulled from additional social channels, like Twitch and Discord and LinkedIn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
NewsWhip helps us to have a good overview about trending topics, interesting articles and hidden stories. The differentiation between the platforms is very helpful, especially for our video editing team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There s nothing in particular that we don't like about using NewsWhip. The team is always happy to help, if we have any questions about the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Intuitive user interface and designed to surface useful insights. Many other tools tend to focus on eye-catching graphics but utility to end users has not been fully thought through Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Adding accounts to be tracked means it's not possible to look at historical data of accounts recently identified. But we understand this is an API related issue Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
