I think the views into applications are set to sane defaults. The stuff you're most likely going to have performance issues with (in my experience) is database loads and join-bomb type queries. New Relic seems to put that out front really nicely.
In addition to performance and error tracking I've seen it used really nicely for analytic dashboards (using the NRQL from the Insights product) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I imagine I would not be getting my money's worth _IF_ I were paying for it. However, the last 3 companies I've worked for have used it almost exclusively for tracking down performance problems in Rails apps. I imagine if you are new to new relic and in a small company, you won't be getting all the benefit, BUT for a mature app, it's the best I've seen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

New relic is the next-gen analyzer for your Web Apps, from javascript to sql executions, you will be in control of you app, you will find errors before your users do and data visualization couldn't be any more beautiful. Working with new relic really enhances the way you monitor your apps, and it's ridicously easy to install. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
New relic is expensive and the php installation is not as straight forward as the ruby one. Other than that, not a lot of complaints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Newrelic APM is awesome we use it for our Golang Rest API monitoring and server monitoring.
These questions and their answers are oftentimes crucial to your web application's success or failure. If you've never collected performance metrics from your live web app, you're literally running while blindfolded; at some point you're going to hit a wall!

Newrelics per hour billing is little expensive and not good for regular enterprise users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The APM is extremely useful for drilling down on specific transactions and events that happen on our site. Everything from external web requests to services we use all the way to DB queries are processed and it allows us to see where problems exist.
It also integrates with other tools and alerts us when certain thresholds are met that could cause delays or downtime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the UI can feel a bit cumbersome to navigate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's a package install and a single line in my settings and it's all running and collecting information.
I have worked with .Net and NodeJS and the instalation simplicity is exactly the same for both platforms.
The metrics are quite impressive as well.
It does a really good instrumentation and the details shown in the dashboards and graphics goes way beyond just a "full request" duration. Details about time spent in external services, database, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The awesome amount of good information comes with a cost, and for some of our services we were not able to handle the performance cost it causes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best thing which I liked is that Newrelic provides you info on resource consumption for each phase of execution of a particular request on a server. This helped us debugging many critical issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The alerting features of new relic could have more options . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

NewRelic is a very different breed of analytics tool, one that actually allows you to spot issues before they end up hitting your customers. Over my years of using it, I've never come across anything quite like it. The ability to spot failures and very minute errors that could start cropping up in larger clusters has helped eliminate all kinds from total site failure all the way down to database query improvement. The lack of an ability to very accurately filter this stuff down can sometimes mean you end up with a big data overload, but the tools are good enough to keep everything going. Still, i'd like some kind of heavy-duty query language to look for really obscure event crossovers, and to allow more fine-tuned analytics would be nice. Additionally, there can be some bandwidth issues with larger events sending over additional data, but with some tweaking that tends to be relatively easy to fix. New Relic's application and server monitoring has allowed our team to build better, faster, and more stable products since using it. We have also been able to make huge fixes to legacy code bases.
The APM product has been instrumental in our ability to improve application and server performance.
The Synthetics product is great for passive monitoring as well as scripting interactions on your site and timing the performance and availability. Page load times can be monitored over time to gauge site performance as content changes.
The Browser product offers a great real-time look at your users. It's also great for debugging and monitoring JavaScript performance on client computers.
Insights is great for diving into deep analytics. The dashboards are great for non-technical users to get a view of user and application performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
New Relic has been steadily improving the product and adding features that are beneficial to our environment. There is very little to dislike. However, the learning curve on using Insights effectively is pretty steep and could use improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Great reporting features of how your web app is performing. Integrates well with Drupal (our CMS) that allows us to see specific hooks and modules that are misbehaving. Also analyzes our front-end for performance improvements. Neat to see how everything is running in almost real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This product is great for a high level view, but diving into very specific problems can be painful. You can only get so far before you have to get into your logs to find the exact cause of a problem. Would be great of they could SFTP into your sever to access the logs directly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Installing their server monitoring software is easy and requires little to no configuration. Works like a charm and best of all it's free. Website alerts (synthetics) are very useful as well to have multiple locations check the availability of your website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The mobile app (Android) confuses me a lot. I keep getting a notification about using an older (API) version of alerts but I've got no clue how to disable this. I also have a case of an ongoing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
