I love the media database and distribution system to send and track pitches. I've been able to create stronger and more targeted media list to serve my clients. The ability to research reporters, their interest, find them on social media, see their latest articles has been a game changer when it comes to identifying the right media contacts to reach out to and pitch. Let me not forget the media monitoring and reporting service. I'm able to quickly identify and capture the metrics important to my clients and communiciate the value in the service I provide as a publicist. There isn't a newswire distribution feature as of yet, so I have to send my newswire submissions through a different platform. Honestly speaking, that's the only major drawback for me, but it wasn't a big enough factor to turn me away from signing up and using Muck Rack. I love how easy it is to find new (and more importantly, relevant) targets based on recent coverage and reporter areas of interest. I also find the insights, trends and coverage comparison features GODSENT when carving out a media strategy. Muck Rack is intuitive and essential to my PR strategy. It, candidly, drives me insane that there is no wiggle room for misspellings in the search feature. It's frustrating (hypothetically) looking up "Bob K. Smith" and the individual appearing as "Bob Smith," therefore the platform informing me that the person doesn't exist instead of asking "did you mean..." etc. I wish that alerts were a bit more tailored as I sometimes receive erroneous content in my inbox. Customer service, price, simplicity. Reporter contact information is always up to date and if it is not I know I can get a quick response from customer support to get info added. The media tracking is excellent for the size of my organzation (50 employees, nonprofit focused on northern Ohio region). I've already recommended Muck Rack to a former colleague for his media needs and he signed up. IT is a well-priced model and I feel like even though I am a small client, they give me attention and meet my needs. The pitching function works very well. I can track who opened my pitches and when, whether they clicked on embedded links and if their info is no longer relevant, Muck Rack automatically updates their info. Smaller publications aren't always listed, which just requires me to ask support and they will get them included. I wish the media tracking was more comprehensive, I do find some clips with other media reporting tools. I haven't discovered any downsides yet. If anything, it would be great to have PR Newswire analysis. Here's why: from time to time, I'll have a client who needs paid postings on the internet and the metrics associated with that post. Muck Rack is very full-service, offering all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a media monitoring platform/media database. I most appreciate the way it's built its media database, however. It recognizes how "beats" today can be fluid, sometimes even nonexistent, and actually pays attention to what reporters have been talking about, covering, and sharing on social media. I also really value their customer service -- always very prompt and ready to help in quite sophisticated ways. For instance, when I was really struggling to pull together a search string for an upcoming announcement, one of the customer service staff really listened to my objectives and the structure of content to quickly point me in the right direction. It does seem the media database is quite a bit smaller than other services, like Cision. It does seem to be higher-quality, but I can't tell how much is lost.
