I have been using Muckrack professionally for over 5 years. I've used several different platform, and it is definitely my favorite by a long mile. The database is always up-to-date and their team is quick to help for any missing contact information. We also use the platform as a media listening tool and I am able to track publicity hits across 500+ brands that fall under our coverage. I love being able to pitch directly within the platform, and to track follow ups and make notes on the contact profile. I highly recommend this platform to anyone who is interested! The price is definitely steep, and the platform might be better suited to medium-big size companies. That being said, you definitely get your moneys worth with Muckrack. It's a worthy investment for anyone looking for build their media relations and track publicity efforts across brands. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Our team values the continual additions and updates to search for publications and members of the media, the pitching tools, and even the AI tools. Being able to generate reports is key as everything has an ROI and a KPI. This service does have a number of improved services and features over other products. Customer service is always available and very helpful. Our PR team uses MR for a variety of reasons all day everyday! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think this is a tool with continual evolution, so some of this is likely already in the works:
- Need more circulation and open rate info to provide more fruitful metrics
- coverage searches need more power - I find that I also need to do a Google News search to find things MR missed and then import the links. Would be nice to not have to do the secondary search.
- Wire service options for 1-off pitches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

MuckRack is an easy to use tool for locating media contact information and I love how comprehensive the profiles are. Should I ever need anything, my contacts at MuckRack are easily accessible and check in with me periodcally. This is the best media platform available in my opinon. I don't have any current complaints about the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

MuckRack is by far the best media relations platform I've ever used, and I've used so many. Cision, TrendKite, Vocus, Meltwater, you name it. And the reason its so good its because it does what they tell you it will do (where others do not) AND its intuitive, meaning any of your team can jump in and pretty much figure it out without training. On top of that, MuckRack's training is better than the rest..by far!
And for a public relations individual trying to do their craft well requires the ability to read coverage from the reporters you're pitching as it happens, be up to date on what they are sharing on their own channels, and then when it makes sense to reach out, ENSURE THE CONTACT INFORMATION for that journalist is correct. These are where other platforms fall short. I would never recommend a platform other than MuckRack!
I also love that its one price. They don't try to sell you all these crazy addins like Meltwater does. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I don't like is that when you use MuckRack to pitch journalists, the email address your email comes from is a weird one — to me, that could be a red flag to a journalist seeing "noreply@msgsend.com". However, when a jouranlist replies, it does go correctly to your email. This is not a feature everyone uses or even needs. I like it because it tracks all pitches like a CRM it can be helpful, especially determining open and click rates.
MuckRack - please make an outlook/gmail integration so we can stop sending messages from a sketchy email address. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Muck Rack is a great tool for both media monitoring and journalist list building. I use it daily to monitor our media mentions across several key words, which I have set to be sent via email each morning. The ability to customize reports and the details available for each outlet and clip is helpful in crafting more detailed reports for various stakeholders.
I also use Muck Rack to build journalist lists for pitching. One of the biggest sellers for me when we switched to Muck Rack was the ability to easily personalize pitches within the software. The journalist database is also much more robust than other software I've used.
Customer support is quick to respond and very helpful. I had some questions when I was first using the platform that were not covered in the videos/Q&A documentation. A quick chat with customer service put me on the right track, and I've had no issues since. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only downside so far is that my dedicated CSR is not very responsive. The CSR sent a couple emails when getting the account initially set up, but there have not been any check-ins to see how the platform was working for us or if I had any questions or issues. When I first started my job as an AD of Comms, spearheading all external comms and PR for a nonprofit, I told my boss I needed Muck Rack to be successful in my job and sold him on it. My favorite feature is the robust media database.
Muck Rack has the largest database of up-to-date reporter contacts in my experience. If a contact is outdated, you can simply chat them and they'll conduct research for you to ensure the contact is accurate.
The customizable media list is also a game changer. For example, if I am having an event in Washington DC and need to target reporters who cover medical news in the area, I can select the precise filters to target those folks. Muck Rack saves SO much time in my day.
The transparent pricing is also awesome- I appreciate that it's one flat fee with everything included per user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'd say Muck Rack is a bit expensive, but given its features I'd say it is worth it. I do wish they had special pricing for nonprofits, however.
The social media monitoring could also be better. Other softwares offer more robust insights and therefore you're forced to go to another platform that offers better insights. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Muck Rack has been instrumental in helping our team source media contacts + pitch a wide range of media. The database of reporters is incredible -- truly no other platform has anything like it. That has saved us countless hours. Pitching directly from the platform has also saved a lot of time, too -- it can be a little tricky to learn how to use it at first, but once you do, it's a game changer. The coverage report function can be a little tricky. Clients oftentimes have a hard time accessing coverage reports or understanding what each metric means, and we have to spend extra time adding together broadcast AND print/online coverage to get a full audience number. Being able to access profiles for journalists and keep track of the relationship. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish it had an influencer and or podcast feature. As we evolve digitally, this would be a nice addition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I mainly use it for the media database but there are so many other great reporting features to utilise. This is my third year renewing with Muckrack and I didn't even think to look anywhere else as I know it's the best out there. Super reliable, staff always on hand for any questions and updates and a super easy user interface for me to use with new team members. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
occasionally it can be a little bit laggy if I go a few pages into contacts. However, I appreciate the page is trying to load hundreds of journalist details. There are definitely ways around this though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As the PR Manager at Palisades Tahoe, Muckrack has been a game-changer for our media relations. The platform’s extensive database makes it easy to find the right journalists and outlets to connect with, and managing media lists has never been simpler. I especially appreciate the real-time tracking of our outreach—it gives us clear insights into how our pitches are performing.
Muckrack’s media monitoring tools ensure we never miss a mention of Palisades Tahoe, allowing us to engage promptly with any coverage. The platform is intuitive, user-friendly, and backed by excellent customer support. Overall, Muckrack has significantly enhanced our PR strategy, and I highly recommend it to any PR professional. While Muckrack has been an invaluable tool for our PR efforts, I would love to see more AI-driven features integrated into the platform. Enhanced AI capabilities could streamline our workflow even further, providing smarter insights, automating routine tasks, and offering predictive analytics to help us stay ahead of trends. Incorporating these advanced technologies would make Muckrack an even more powerful resource for PR professionals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to access reporter details and tracking/monitoring of news coverage. Easy to track beats and key words, and being able to download the data is a plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Reporter contact details go out of date quite quickly, and the geo-tagging of reporter locations is often off/missing completely. Also not the easiest filtering system for articles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
