What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

This is not difficult to utilize, but the resources are in fact limited. I like the conventional 8-hour week and the possibility of assigning resources and functions, although I would choose more integrated features, such as easier cost sharing when viewing responsibilities or maybe easier creation of Pareto charts directly from the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

The number of tools is very important, although it can be really heavy. It takes a lot of effort and time to learn a product to be used to the full. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:

When you're going to use MS Project, I suggest an internship with an experienced Microsoft teacher who will introduce you to the system's outputs and inputs to make sure you know all the resources offered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Usually, I don't solve almost any work at Project and I don't do portfolio management either, so I have almost no accounting or accounting projects, and the advantage is that I usually save a lot of my time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

MS Project is the best way to articulate the details of any project throughout the SDLC. The Gant charts is a great way to present the whole project to management/executives. It is also very easy to update and add notes at each milestone date or task. You can also integrate min-type plans into the overall very easily, and the dates and progress will be automatically updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

When importing a plan from excel, expect to meet with some challenges when copying and pasting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

The benefits are the scalability of the software application and the usability. I was able to create and save an mpp plan to share point and share amongst several members in the organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

You can create a schedule that's as detailed as you want it, or as simple as you want it. Easily customizable. Can use templates, as well. It allows you to make sure that you do not miss any small tasks within even the largest projects. I like that there are so many different options and you can really make the tool your own. It's a great tool! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

It is a little complicated to learn. If you make a mistake on certain things, it takes a long time to fix that mistake. A lot of training is necessary to get the hang of the tool. I also don't like that there isn't an option right now for auto save. But, once you get the hang of it it's a great tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:

If you want a tool that can be customized to what you need and will help you successfully manage projects down to the smallest details then Microsoft Project is your tool! I love it -- just be prepared to go through a good amount of training to get comfortable with the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am managing 3 very large projects within Microsoft Project currently. It has allowed me to track down to the tiniest task level when needed to make sure the smallest tasks don't get forgotten. It helps feed into beautiful milestone charts and I can use the data within the schedule to create reports for upper management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

This is very helpful for project management and saves us a lot of time overall. The pre-built templates are very helpful and this system allows us to easily view work projects and monitor the progress we are making. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

The biggest dislike is the price and it is not as user friendly as it could be. There are alternatives to this product that are more cost efficient and a bit easier to learn on the front end. I do like using this, but it is hard to justify the cost at times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:

I would advise to look at all the features offered and the price point to make sure you will use it enough to justify the cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

What I dislike about this application is that it requires an additional license to the Office 365 package. It should be an optional within the same package. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

With Microsoft Project we were able to organize our projects much better. Observe how resources overlap, analyze progress and critical paths. This helps us to optimize time and resources and to be more effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
