What do you like best about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

MS Project is super reliable for core PM functions. No matter what other tooling I use - JIRA, Workfront, Trello, etc. - I always come back to Project on large/complicated projects. The control over project scheduling, resource planing, GANTT view, etc. are second to none. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

No beginners, Project can be intimidating. It looks kind of like Excel, but functions very differently. The depth of feature set takes some getting used to. I recommend online tutorials or finding yourself a good mentor if you are just learning Project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management:

For any complicated projects - especially engagements in which you are going to interact with and have dependencies on outside organiziations - I highly recommend Project as a means of establishing a common source of project timeline truth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Mapping out project plans across multiple phases. Assigning resources and resource group. Identifying critical path. Project has done all of the above with no issues in my experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Its better product for sml to mid size organisations to manage the project and monitor it's progress. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management?

Installation and lots of updates are killer to this product. Another issue is it's financials which is integrated with MS office hence organisations are hesitant to buy.

I suggest it should be a web based product and available for users freely within limits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
