**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

Kahuna stands out as one of the best-designed work tools I have ever used. The system truly prioritizes user experience and delivers significant value in the workplace. From a customer service perspective, Kahuna deserves a perfect score—every interaction we've had with their team has been with people who are highly skilled and genuinely focused on the customer. I am proud to partner with Kahuna to help support the growth and development of our employees.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

We have not had any negative experiences with Kahuna.

**What problems is Kahuna solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Kahuna has greatly improved the way we deliver our On-the-Job Training (OJT) competencies throughout our operations. By replacing our old paper-based tracking system with a digital platform, we now have access to analytical insights that were previously unavailable to us. Additionally, Kahuna has enabled us to significantly cut down on printing and shipping expenses related to managing and distributing paper tracking documents, saving us over $20,000. The integration with our HRIS system means we no longer need to manually identify new employees or those transitioning into new roles to assign the right content—this process is now automated. Ultimately, Kahuna has made it possible for us to expand OJT across the entire organization in a way that is both cost-effective and user-friendly.

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

I find Kahuna incredibly useful and love working with their phenomenal customer success team. They really take the time to understand our business needs and help tailor the system for us. The system is intuitive, has a nice appearance, and is easy to use. I also really appreciate the great customer support team.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

In our time with Kahuna, I have yet to find anything I dislike about the system.

I use Kahuna for documenting employee competencies, reallocating resources, and it acts as a one-stop shop for housing training certifications with future linkage to an LMS.

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

The team a t kahuna worked with us to understand our process, identify our needs, and tailor the experience such that it was intuitive and required almost no training beyond an introduction. We adopted a spiral-bound manual checklist into a kahuna task application and as soon as we showed users how to log in and see their tasks, they could figure out the rest.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

Based on my involvement with the development, it was hard to limit how many alerts I received so I disabled alerts entirely.

**What problems is Kahuna solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Replaced a paper spiral-bound book, so now we can track progress, we don’t need to physically pass the book around, nobody loses their progress, or needs a book replaced. This allows users to drive their own progress rather than waiting on managers and possibly resenting them for being too busy to provide resources.

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

I greatly appreciate Kahuna's robust customer support, which has been instrumental in assisting us with setup and ensuring we have the necessary resources. Their support team has consistently provided excellent service, making the implementation process smoother. I also value the ability to customize Kahuna to meet our specific organizational needs, and this customizability stands out as a key feature. The intuitive search feature is incredibly handy for quickly finding competencies, and the capability for group competency validation streamlines processes significantly, allowing multiple people to be checked off at once. This is far more efficient than our previous paper-based methods. Additionally, the digital platform provides comprehensive reporting capabilities, enabling us to generate detailed insights on-demand. Since transitioning to Kahuna, we've experienced enhanced organizational visibility, where leaders can easily gain insights into staff competencies and proof of competence can be pulled for regulatory bodies without difficulties. Overall, the combination of these features and the personalized customer support make Kahuna an exceptional tool for our clinical competency tracking.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

I would like the ability to assign competencies with a clearly defined due date to help set timing expectations. Additionally, I find the inability for a leader to customize competencies that expire, particularly at the campus or unit level, rather than requesting a new competency role build at a system-wide level, a limitation.

**What problems is Kahuna solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Kahuna to digitize competency tracking, providing leaders insight into staff competencies and simplifying proof of competence for regulatory bodies, enabling efficient management and reporting.

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

Kahuna offers us a real-time skills management system that integrates seamlessly with Workday, our HR platform. This system enables us to add both general office skills and competencies, as well as those specific to our core business knowledge and competencies also in manufacturing and service departments. 
It gives our managers the tools to track, manage, develop, and forecast their teams effectively, while also helping to ensure compliance.
The Kahuna implementation team has been very supportive, a real pleasure to work with.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

There's nothing I dislike about Kahuna. 
There are a few areas where further development could make it an even more ideal solution for our needs. 
First, our business would much appreciate having a 'Competency Coverage' column in the team matrix. This column would display the current number of competent team members alongside the target number required for compliance. Such a feature summarizes in a glimpse whether we are compliant / meeting our targets.

Second, Kahuna has excellent features, however a few of them do not work for us, due to the system's back-end logic or the way colour coding and icons are handled in the front-end. As a result, we had to implement a workaround, which unfortunately led to bit more manual data entry.

Third, for non English speaking countries, Kahuna front-end can be translated to your required local language. Very helpful for a company our size with locations across the globe. Unfortunately it was more time consuming then we anticipated.

**What problems is Kahuna solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The real-time visualization of core knowledge and competencies in a skills matrix for each team is very helpful for planning orders, tracking, managing and developing teams. 
It allows us to stay up to date with safety-related compliance requirements. 
Additionally, it supports forecasting workforce changes that could affect our core knowledge and competencies.

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

I have been using Kahuna for three years to manage operator competency in chemical manufacturing plants. I appreciate how Kahuna enables the production of easy, auditable records of competency and offers clear training plans for manufacturing staff. The service and support from the Kahuna team are incredible; they are knowledgeable, helpful, and very responsive. I especially like that the Kahuna team is focused on delivering an excellent customer experience by continually improving the product and providing amazing, human support. Additionally, the initial setup of Kahuna was very easy, thanks to the assistance from the Kahuna team, making the transition smooth. Overall, I find Kahuna wonderful and cannot think of any areas for improvement.

I can't think of anything.

Kahuna produces easy, auditable competency records and clear training plans for our plant staff, enhancing our management process.

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

Easy to manage; Great customer support; Visibility of competencies makes it easy for our employees to know what they need to accomplish and where they currently stand.  Integrates well with Oracle Learning.  It's my favorite software to use every day.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

My only suggestion for improvement would be to minimize the white space. Everything is presented on a white background. I'd like to see it organized a little more compactly with expansion buttons and presented with less white space.

It's a great way to track our employees' progress in their training competencies by job role.  Our customers are always concerned that the people doing the job are well qualified and competent.  Kahuna is a great tool to assist with that information.

I like Kahuna's customer service for being responsive and assisting with change management. They're forward-thinking and invest time in understanding the reasons behind their efforts. **What do you like best about Kahuna?**

Kahuna is the best solution on the market for managing personnel competencies.  In addition, their customer support is simply amazing.  I have worked with them at two different companies, one large 30,000 employees and another with less than 1000.  Implementation and integrations were a breeze and adoption was well received across the companies.  Regardless of the size of your organization, the industry your are in, or where you are in your talent management process Kahuna is an indispensable tool and partner.

Insights tool lacks some features and not as intuitive as it could be.

Kahuna has been essential to our competency management process. The implementation was a team effort, with the Kahuna team focused on providing what we needed, but also being intentional to get things right. The customer support has been exceptional! I am most excited about the increased visibility of our end user progress, while also allowing our preceptors to communicate. It really paints a picture of progress.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

Kahuna has been great! If I could change one thing, it would be to have an in-person site visit with the implementation team to share the implementation plan first-hand from their team to ours.

**What problems is Kahuna solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Kahuna is providing a competency platform, removing the use of paper! It is also providing transparency on end user progress, which allows us to correlate the training to actual performance.

Affords staff, leaders and preceptors insight to skill advancement, learning needs and real time progression towards practice mastery.  Customer support is appreciated! The Kahuna team consist of subject matter experts who provide ongoing support and insights for successful implementation of technology and transition into practice adoption.

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

Kahuna is easy to use and provides fantastic customer support. Our organization uses Kahuna daily and it has been a game changer for our HR team, leaders, and educators to manage competencies and the employee onboarding process.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

There are a few key features that we'd like to see in Kahuna that have caused some barriers. However, our support team has been fantastic at supporting those goals and implementing workarounds if possible in the meantime.

We had a lot of missing pieces and clunky processes involved with competency management pre-Kahuna. After implementing the system, we are able to have a better grasp on compliance and support our employees growth and skills more holistically.

Kahuna is easy to use for end users. The admin features used most on a daily basis are also easy to use after practicing in Beta a few times. The customer support team is patient and helpful. They are a fantastic group!

Some of the administrative features can be a bit confusing. However, the customer support team is quick to respond, provide real-time help, and investigate more complicated issues.

Kahuna digitizes the entire competency management process, reducing the reliance on disconnected systems and spreadsheets. This streamlines the curation, assignment, assessment, and development of skills and competencies

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

At the moment its not integrated to the official HR CMS tool.   You are required to perform monthly uploads and downloads.

**What problems is Kahuna solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For our organization, it's primarily on compliance to the required skill and competencies for specific roles.    Before Kahuna we do not have a clear visual on the status of the organization and individuals.

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

The platform is easy to use and their support team is next level! While no platform is perfect the Kahuna team has helped us ensure that we are getting everything we can to ensure the best possible end user experience.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

We are using the platform in a few different ways and some functionality is best suited for a more skill based application so we've had to make some adjustments for the competency based application but again with the fantastic support team we've been able to make adjustments and are excited for what we've created.

**What problems is Kahuna solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For our specific application for the first time we're having learners evaluate their skills before jumping into training to ensure we're honoring previous experience and focusing development time on areas that will have the biggest impact. This is a huge game changer for us since development time is limited.

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

The in-depth support, walkthroughs, and EXTENSIVE patience that the team had with our group's questions was above and beyond. Once we got the hang of the system, it improved our processes immensely, AND our associates, some of whom will use it EVERY DAY, are going to have a much more positive user experience than our previous system(s).

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

It's a relatively steep learning curve so it takes a bit of time and hands-on experience before you feel confident, but the team really helped us get there quickly!

**What problems is Kahuna solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had a lot of limitations in our previous system, mainly non-line manager/supervisor-based accessibility/visibility problems, and Kahuna is solving them completely. One of the programs we're moving into Kahuna will now be more straight forward, easier to follow, and result in faster completion for our associates that are looking to develop and promote. We also have FAR less manual steps the administration team will need to manage, saving us a LOT of time, headaches, and money!

**What do you like best about Kahuna?**

The Kahuna Skills management solution in and of itself is absolutely a game changer for any organization that has a need to closely track and monitor the development of their employees skills, certifications, licenses or qualifications and align those to operational excellence. Deep levels of customization, integration with the existing HR Technology stack, quick and powerful analytics as well as ease of use for all levels of user is the muscle that defines the value at a high level and the level of detail able to be created from a wholistic view is a differenciator with competitor solutions. This is my second deployment of Kahuna in two field services organizations over the past 7 years or so and it has been a game changer. The icing on the cake is the actual Kahuna team themselves. I have never met a more knowledgeable and focused service provider in this space. Any support requests are met with responses typically in less than 12 hours, and the account support team maintains an ongoing and valuable relationship with their clients.

**What do you dislike about Kahuna?**

There is really no distractors that I can think of for this platform. I would say that if you have a very small organization, perhaps this isnt the solution for you from a SaaS cost perspective -but if you have more than about 100 employees, and particularly if you are linking the data to resource deployment and/or you have a need for a very solid and auditable system or record, the ROI is exceptionally easy to justify.

Larger focus on wholistic Operational Capability modeling to allow the tool and associated data to be used for strategic growth and customer variability in needs. Additionally, with Kahuna as the centerpiece, all training demand is informed by assignment of role profiles.

The email system notifications, dashboards and import templates could be improved. Although these areas could use some improvements the Kahuna team does listen to their customer's request and we have witnessed several improvements request implemented yearly.

I would recommend being completely transparent of potential issues you have had in the past and the vision moving forward as this team has the ability to provide you with solutions needed for your business.

We have been able to implement Career Paths across our Operations teams globally with ease. This has helped us tremendously by identifying mandatory requirements and assigning with specific logic. Also, with this in place we can select the right qualified employee for the task. The users have found the system to be beneficial and transparency has been key for their careers.

We compared seven competency management systems, and Kahuna outstood them all! Each company demonstrated its product, and Kahuna's team was the most professional and experienced. Every Kahuna team member we've worked with has been pleasant, organized, timely, and helpful. We have worked on many projects at our healthcare organization, and this has been one of our best experiences to date.

Nothing to dislike. Our experience has been great so far and we recommend that all consider using the software and working with the Kahuna team. Will update this review if anything changes along the way!

The paper-based competency system we use has its downsides like papers getting lost, inefficient and time-wasting, requires manual admin work, little transparency for progress, etc. Kahuna solves all these issues as it is digital, quick, has a team matrix/dashboard, and provides reports. It also allows us to link learning resources so that users can quickly find related information.

The biggest advantage for our teams besides getting notified when training it's about to expire and avoiding any penalties from the legal authorities, is the analytic and reports function its a great tool for our managers to have an overview of their departments and plan ahead. Also, it´s an easy platform to use.

A challenge that we had working with kahuna was the translation into Czech which was solved later on.

I have used several systems in the past all of which have proven to be inflexible in the way we are required to assess competence.  I have found Kahuna to be incredibly flexible in the way I can design and deliver Kahuna to the workforce.   The integration to the HRIS system and the LMS system was seamless.
The support given by the Kahuna team was second to none, and with a user group working together with the Kahuna team that has been designed and developed to formulate the future development of the Kahuna system and also to assist users.

I have been involved in various HCM systems over the past 15 years and without a doubt Kahuna has provided the best solutions and best customer service.   Having worked with SAP, Oracle, and everything in between Kahuna is the shinning star and the only one I would reccomend.

I honestly have no dislikes for Kahuna.  If I have to pick something it would be a concern, not a "dislike," that as they grow they might lose the personal touch and direct interaction I have with their team.

Our focus for Kahuna is competency management, workforce planning, development plans, and talent management.  Kahuna has a great solid foundation but flexible configuration to match different operational groups in our company. I like Kahuna because it eases your work as an HR of the business because here your able to do so many things to accomplish your tasks easily for example provides compliance reports,able to do multiple roles, manage multiple competency catalogs and even enables you plan for your work easily. Here, you can even easily see all your teams competence, manage, assess, develop and assign.

This application is quite complicated to use. there is need to put more guidelines for easy usage and accessibility. More branding of the software is also needed to increase usability. One can easily make unlimited work load and errors while using the application. Also starting the application is quite hard so there is need to ease the procedures involved.

**Recommendations to others considering Kahuna:**

I highly recommend Kahuna to all organisations most especially the human resource departments that this application has come to solve all your work related issues. Here you will able to manage,assign, assess, plan your workflow, hold multiple roles, see all your teams competence, provide compliance reports to your employees,and there is no need to rely on the job structure. It is user friendly and not so complicated to set up. Kahuna is surely your answer to all your work related problems. upload it and your work will be made much more easier.

We are generating report forms using Kahuna, Managing, assigning, assessing and developing and also work planning using the application. This has eased the work for our human resource development.
