It's a simple and robust scheduler if you are after very basic functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Deputy likes to promote its integration capabilities through Zapier, which can indeed be useful. For example, an employee clocking into a shift can trigger a customer survey, automate reminders, or execute other helpful tasks. Unfortunately, about five months into my company’s subscription, Deputy’s Zapier integration abruptly stopped working. Overnight, this disrupted dozens of automated tasks we relied on daily. My team had to manually execute these every morning, consuming hours of their time. Customers didn’t receive crucial reminders, surveys weren’t sent to staff, and timesheets failed to log in our accounting system. From a management perspective, technical failures like this not only impact customer relationships and the bottom line, but they undermine trust internally and make it that much harder to implement other tech initiatives.
Here's the thing: I work with a dozen software providers and I understand that tech issues happen. But Deputy's tech support team is hands down the slowest and least effective I have ever encountered. They offer no live support (it is all email based), and their engineering team is based in Australia, which causes unavoidable delays for US customers (if something goes wrong after 5pm on Thursday, forget it). Even after factoring in the time difference, their response times were a joke. After making it clear their broken integration was causing my business critical operational problems, it still took them 4-5 days to send a boilerplate email reply, and at no point did their communications ever convey a sense of urgency.
The last email I ever received from them was an admission they had no idea how to fix their broken integration (which they were still advertising as functional):
"As there is no timeline for a resolution in the near future, this Support ticket has been closed."
After two weeks without any meaningful updates and an admission from a support engineer that the platform was going to be broken indefinitely, I gave up and switched to Connecteam. I should have done this way sooner. The Connecteam guys had me set up with time tracking in just a few days, provided lightning fast support, and offered a more customizable platform at a lower cost.
Even if Deputy were to fix the broken integration, the risk of another failure with such poor support to back it up is far too high for my business. I would not have chosen Deputy had I known how flimsy their integrations are and how under resourced their tech support would be. This experience was a significant waste of time and money, and I would strongly caution others to look elsewhere. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that the schedules can be viewed by team member and also that they can be divided into groups. At my job, we alternate every day in the customer service team who is handling chat, text, email, calls, etc. so it's nice to see at a glimpse who is in each time and when their starting and finishing times are. I also like the feature of being able to request someone from your team switch shifts with you and how it is pending approval. I think it allows team members to be more proactive about getting shifts covered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'd like to be able to view the schedules in different time zones to accommodate for team members overseas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

being able to play with schedules without publising is a game changer, it means that the team are not impacted by constant changes. Also the ability to look at labour costs, against each project is another big plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The view options, I feel like I can't see the whole month in one go. It could be user error though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that deputy is so user friendly and any answers I need I get them right away through the FAQ's or the chat
It is very thorough and organised and has been life changing! It was very easy to implement the new platform to my staff who use the app daily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't like that we can't use a normal spreadsheet via excel to upload shifts Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the schedule page on Deputy. I like that shifts and days are laid out in a neat grid, and that you can see unavailablity/time off when working on a schedule. I also, like the overall look of Deputy, it is very clean. I like the mobile version and the permissions that employees can have to edit their lunch / timesheet before it's approved if there was a mistake. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some features that I feel like are missing- like a way to copy the schedule from just 1 day to another day or another week. I also don't like the fact that if I am working on an unpublished schedule, my employees cannot request off a day if they have an unpublished shift at that time. I would rather when they request it off, for it to empty that shift if I approve the time.
Also, on my end, once I was given manager permissions, I cannot see my timesheets. I am not on salary, but there are paid meetings and timesheets that I would like to be sure are getting added correctly. I would like to still have the ability to see my approved & pending timesheets like other employees even though I'm an assistant manager, not on salary, and can't approve my own sheets. One of the best things about Deputy is its user-friendly interface, which makes scheduling, time tracking, and shift management seamless. It also offers great flexibility with real-time updates and easy communication, helping to reduce admin time and improve overall efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One downside of Deputy is that the mobile app can occasionally be glitchy, causing delays in clocking in or accessing schedules. Additionally, some advanced features might require a bit of a learning curve for new users Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Easy of scheduling, tracking time off, and request offs all in one place! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing I dislike, but a few things that it would be nice to have as options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

User friendly and essential records are kept, as well as useful reports can be run. I think that there is a lot more that we can do with Deputy and we need to take the time to learn all that it offers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes it is very slow (site) for team to clock on/off and they do complain to us.
It is also frustrating that people can't apply for 'unavailable' dates if a roster has been done (or drafted and not published) as casuals need to be able to do this and can't if there is also a shift in place (even if they can't see it). So then they have to contact the manager and make arrangements. Would be much better if they can apply and alert comes up for manager to accept and then re-roster that shift.
Also good if team can reverse their leave - this happens quite a bit and a manager has to delete it once it has been approved. If a team member can either delete or apply to delete and then the manager receives an alert would be ideal? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While incredibly intuitive, robust, and well developed... it is equally as easy to get set up, their customer service is top level, and your staff will onboard seemlessly!
My team is using it quite often since we are managing a large team of students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, I do have a hard time coming up with something that I don't like. This experience has been incredible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Improved communciation with staff, employees appreciate app's ease of use and the ability to check their schedules. Drastically reduced errors in rostering. Timesheet system is of great help for payroll. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Support for implementation of system did take longer than expected and could have been more efficient. Ultimately managed to setup system with no major upsets but did expect more from support.
Timesheets easier to modify on mobile phone app than on windows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
