Being a government contractor and being compliant with all the regulations required for being a government contractor, it is critical to have a system that can handle and provide accurate, reliable, quick data to report to the government. Costpoint allows indirect rates to be built in the system that fit the need of the company. Every company is different so having flexibility is critical to be successful. The system brings in planning, contracts, billing, receivables, payables, timesheets, expense reports, and everything required to be successful in accounting. Built into Costpoint also is a report writer that allows you to build reports on any data that is in the system. This allows you to easily custom reports for customers or build analytic dashboards for your executive team. The biggest downfall of Costpoint is planning. It is still a little buggy but if that is the worst thing of the whole system that is not bad. The rest of the system is great. Another area that Deltek needs to integrate into Costpoint is Cobra the project management system (EVMS). I believe this is in the horizon in the next 2 years but the fact this is a stand alone system and not integrated is painful when you get a new project and have to set-up instead of having it feed from Costpoint to that module. I like CPs ability to sort of flow like water, the ability to build out your own mods to fit your businesses needs and projects is definitely a big key. It's also important from a compliance standpoint which Deltek and CP lead the industry . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As am implementor and service provider I feel at times CP can be too much for a client which is why vantage is great. I feel as there has been new UX changes that has made improvements on things I disliked. Also feel not the product itself but rather dealing with help desk when something does break. Although it has got better over the last few years, integrating Deltek Costpoint with other software systems can sometimes be challenging and requires additional technical support or custom development. Deltek service model is to direct clients to consulting partners that can also make it a costly solution.

Stability of functionality. While the product releases new enhancements and functionality quite frequently, the product still allows users to utilize the functionality that they have been using for years. One of the things that I find somewhat troublesome is the two line data in reports. I find it very confusing to read the data when it’s presented in this manner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Calculate indirect rate easily by runing the report.

The system is only good for big company with resources in HR/accouning and doing busienss with goverment which indirect rate is required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Too much extra work to go through and maintein.

The system is very rigid with multiple modules but not really linked to each other efficiently. Required setup correctly and multile import and export.

Too many work around to get the result/ reports you need and need to create and maintain excel sheets on the side.

Lack of customization. Its a very ridged system compared to other ERP apps that allow field customization, label changes, and adding additional fields to screens to capture custom information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I've used Deltek since its inception; I was a beta test user at the company where I was working back in the 90s. I like the organization of the data and ease of use with the software...from System 1 through the latest version of Costpoint. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I do not like the Amount in Excess feature, specifically the labeling of it. Every customer, bar none, accepts the language "less amount in excess" despite the value in the current column being a positive value because the amount due is lower. However, as soon as funding is updated, the amount reverses. It's currently programmed to show a "negative" symbol with the value. This confuses customers, who either call to inquire why the invoice total increases when clearly the AME value has a minus sign or they simply reject. Every time. Their inquiry makes sense since every human on the planet has been programmed since grade school to subtract upon seeing a minus sign. I then have to contact the customer and explain that the heading 'suggests' the subtraction application and apologize that the developers couldn't program a minus sign the first time AME is achieved and remove it when funding is updated and the amount then added to the total for billing & collection.
