CS integrates credentialing and privileges in a way that our previous software did not allow. The online hub portal for our employed providers is a thing of beauty. Its completely customizable, based on your business requirements, and the CS implementation staff, along with their tech support, are extremely helpful while working on getting your system up and running.
The system is constantly evaluating and expanding itself. There are bug fixes, improvements and so on addressed no less than once a month for the entire system. When any person or group has ideas for CS, they have a Thrive community to submit your ideas and have active discussions in relation to those decisions. I have seen many of them go from a simple idea, to an actual feature we can use in CS in the last year.
The staff that I have worked with, from our initial impletation, through our go live; the IT help desks, our additional help and further implemetations, have been amazingly helpful and patient (and lets be honest, if I am decaffienated, that last bit can be a big ask). If they didnt know how to address a specific question, they went and found a resource to get an answer for us. I find that "drives for results/can do attitude" is pure magic in any business relationship. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's a lot of functionality that requires duplicative set up. There is a number of duplicative entry situations, but they are improving over time.
When we purchased the product, we were told that credentialing buildings (healthcare delivery organizations) could be done with the system, but as of right now (over a year after our go-live implementation), it is still not possible to do it with any of the features that need to be tracked for verification etc. We had to add in a bunch of our own screen extender fields to track required data for our various credentialing audit requirements. Hub access for an HDO (called Organization/Office/Location in the CS system) is not an option in its present state. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the integration of a multitude of PSV resources and the interface capabilities with other softwared databases, like NPDB and ABMS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Training process is very confusing and cumbersome. Programming all the settings and nuances of the software (especially mapping payer forms) is very overwhelming and should be handled by folks with IT experience/skills and this should be communicated to the clients who are purchasing the software. The implementation timelines communicated by the salesperson we worked with were also completely unrealistic and it should have been better communicated that those timelines are only even remotely possible with a certain sized team possessing specific skillsets. Our administration expected that two people with only basic to moderate computer/tech skills would be able to get all of the modules up and running in 4-6 months because the sales team from CredStream didn't offer more detailed info about the implementation timeline. The enrollment module is almost more cumbersome than it is helpful. Payers are moving from paper forms to portals and CredStream's chrome extension doesn't function anymore unless you are constantly remapping the online portals. The chart review module is not at all reasonable for a high volume of chart reviews given that each individual chart has its own link. If a physician is reviewing 50 charts, that's 50 individual links the physician has to navigate and keep organized and have crowding their inbox. The appointment/reappointment module is also less streamlined than our current process and places a burden on those reviewing the physician packets for appointment. Overall, our company is spending $25k per year for this software and only after going through all the trainings did we realize that the only benefits CredStream can offer our company are expirables tracking and ongoing monitoring in addition to having a centralized place for physician profiles/information. We likely would have opted for a different software had we known the details of the software (i.e. more than just a sales demo) prior to signing the contract. Our organization utilizes CredentialStream for everything and being able to use one site is excellent. We really like the quick verify for DEA licenses as you are no longer able to access the DEA website to cehck licenses. This makes it very easy to verify the provider has a current one. The downside to credentail stream that I have ran into, is the applications someimtes to not process correctly. I have had providers come into the office and login and try to submit or submit the application and it does not go through and the support desk is not able to help because they see no issue. CredentialStream has gone through many changes and updates, and these were for the better with more to come! Many of the changes positively affected workflow and in my experience also improved ease of use. Customer support for CredentialStream (and HealthStream) as a whole has an easy-to-use portal where support is thorough and extremely helpful in times of need. As of 2024 this continued support is still thriving and I've never had a issue getting problems resolved or questions answered. They even can hop on a call if needed. In situations where this isn't enough, you have your next levels of support and account managers who assist with contract renewal and support. CredentialStream is continuously looking for ways to improve with a recent change being on how they handle email notifications, report handling and messaging. The option to set up SPF records is there, however, the recent implementation of an in-house email option allows administrators to avoid using SPF records for security concerns. In addition, CredentialStream's flexibility of providing exports whether automatic or manual can allow the integration of third-party systems to pull data from the system via FTP or HL7. Lastly, CredentialStream also provides the ability to add custom data fields to the system with the click of a few buttons which is very useful when combined with reporting and exporting. Provider and location management is very easy with CredentialStream combined with excellent support, developers, and account managers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
CredentialStream is ever-evolving but as a technical administrator the only issues I run into are with the bolt editor with all the different types of reports that can be pulled (forms, letters, spreadsheets, listings, exports, and more) and setting access control rules can be slow. In rare cases where some data has more than one set of data pulling it in separate columns within exports or spreadsheets can take a minute to figure out if you aren't using the system often whether is it using different parent tables for it to lay it out correctly, or tinkering with the filtering and export rules. The only other issue is user management as the system can become clogged with old user data and even though the system allows SSO it doesn't provide user provisioning via other sources or utilize one login for the support portal and other HealthStream products. The best aspect about CredentialStream is that it is a "one stop shopping"!!!. The system houses all the information for the providers. I use CredentialStream all day every day. Any and all information regarding a provider is right there in CredentialStream available to me at any time. At any point I am able to access any information needed regarding a specific provider or any and all providers.
The system is set up so that right from a potential new hire, I can reach out to them, through their application process and run all the PSV's, right through to creating the package needed for final approval and granting them privileges. This is also done when a provider is up for reappointment process. There are also websites that allow others in the company to look at the approved privileges for any provider at any time. The "affiliation" site has save me countless hours of verificiations.
The system then sends out the notifications needed when any item on their file is about to expire on a timeframe that was decided by our team. The reports I receive are invaluable. The system itself sends out the notifications and then I can check my reports at any time. The system also has the ability to send out the verification for references and affiliations that are needed so it's not a "manual" process for each provider going through either an intial or a reappointment process.
We initially went through the implementation which allowed us to set up the system according to our needs. The team that we worked with is still available to me.
As time went on, there were a few issues that I needed changed or add and their customer support was very responsive, knowledgable and able to assist me immediately.
Just having CredentialStream has assisted me in ensuring I am in compliant at all time. Having all the information needed at my fingertips makes it much easier during the audits by outside agencies .
I would highly recommend CredentialStream to everyone who manages the credentilaing process. The ability to streamline all my process and verifications has allowed me a level of comfort and reassurance in my job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have been asked why I don't like about CredentialStream and I honestly can say that there isn't one thing I don't like. As I was fairly new to credentialing when we implemented this program, it has honestly saved me hours of manual verifications and countless spreadsheets to get the information I need all in one program.
I have passed the last two audits I have been through and I am thankful that CredentialStream is our system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that it helps with our automation and try to bring our workflows into a quicker turnaround. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That there are areas that are still being improved and not yet completed to be able to use on a daily basis. Examples - I do not like that the PSVs are not set up to pull the same as what we would see directly from the PSV source. Also the recent Insight reports are not working for us. CredentialStream is very flexible and can be personalized to meet your needs. The system may not have been designed for an FQHC, but we have been able to tailor it to meet our needs and have a fully-functioning, paper free credentialing system. We changed implementation leads mid-stream, but they picked up and made it work for us! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a client, you do not have a direct contact for any questions or needs, so have to re-state your concerns, needs, requests to different representatives that you get on the phone or by email. They rely on their "knowledege base" a whole lot when it would be simpler for us, the end-user, to just get a direct response. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Can use variables to specify and customize results and reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
How specificity using variables can sometimes render issues with updates when the variables aren't converted Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
