**What do you like best about Essentials?**

It makes looking up insurance benefits easy.  It saves client information for quick reference.  Able to check claims, authorization, reviews, eligibility. Easy to add employees to account.  Great tutorials.

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

Looking up authorizations and claims can be confusing since come insurance companies have different portals.  It would be better if there was one integrated dashboard for all authorizations and reviews.

**What problems is Essentials solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped make requesting authorizations much easier and quicker than calling the insurance companies.  It's easier and quicker to get confirmations and information in case adjustments need to be made.

Like other claims and insurance processing suites - there is no one "go-to" to determine if a patient is active and process all insurance verifications. This site is a go-to for specific insurance lines others do not work with. However, limitations are found on all.

Determining active insurance coverage before the patient comes in for the appointment and processing claims for those insurance lines they work with.

**What do you like best about Essentials?**

The ability to receive claim status and eligibility from multiple payers and providers in one space, with one login. The option to also update provider data and set up EFT payments for some payers is also convenient.

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

Sometimes there are issues with ERA's posting in Availity with some payers. Usually this is fixed quickly though within a few days. Some payers functionality in payer spaces could be more accessible as well.

Availity having access to so many payers with just one login streamlines our work process. Without having to use the individual payers provider portals, our workflow is quicker and productivity is improved.

**What do you like best about Essentials?**

With Availity, I can see if our claims are being sent to their proper insurance, but it also gives me the errors I need to correct if there are any issues. Also, the customer service is excellent, and I can check eligibility for many different insurances.

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

It was free for a long time for what we were using it for, but it is still a fair price and much cheaper than other clearing houses since we only use it for a handful of claims.

Receive quick input on claims data with multiple insurance companies. Also gives us the ability to check eligibility quickly and gives me the correct information I need to see whether we can accept a patient.

I like the option to view patient eligibility information and claim information.

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

I do not like the inability to view detailed benefit information. I do not like the lack of claim information available for our patients. I do not like how we apply for multiple insurances to be added, yet they aren't. I want more insurances available on Availity, so I do not have to use so many portals.

If there is a problem with a reconsideration request, they are quick to help me solve it.

I like that I am able to verify patients' dental benefits quickly.  I also like the amount of detailed information I am able to obtain!

There is not really anything that comes to mind that I do not like.

Availity allows me to get the information I need online rather than make a phone call and this allows me to do other things that need to be done.

I like that you can review EOB's, when it works.

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

There are too many issues to address here but I will start with how Availity advertises certain attributes but it does not apply to all insurances. The insurance companies know nothing about Availity, so they cannot help but availity refers you back to the insurance company for any difficulties. You cannot always find claims. You cannot always find payments. You used to be able to find out-of-state BCBS claims but that is nonexistent anymore. It says you can see the insurance cards but this does not apply to all insurance companies. It would be nice to have insurances speak to providers to find out the use of the system and whether or not it is difficult to use. I feel availity sales a product and makes it look greater than what it can perform.

Multiple insurances in one place but difficult to find answers to all of your needs.

**What do you like best about Essentials?**

Availity is straightforward with the tools available to manage claims. It offers an organized homepage that has all the applications one click away. It allows me to check the status of a claim, gives overviews of authorizations and referrals, and most importantly, allows me to verify patient eligibility. The eligibility and benefits inquiry tool is the most effective benefit for me since it will enable me to manage the accuracy of eligibility information thoroughly.

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

The major dislike I have for Availity is that they are not resourceful for denied claims or any denials. In addition, their customer service does not offer premier service to their users in times of conflict with the software. Availity could improve their customer support tools for users and create a tool for managing denials to increase their customer base.

**What problems is Essentials solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems I am solving with Availity are verifying patient insurance for billing purposes and managing claims to complete the medical billing processes effectively. This tool has benefited me by reducing the time needed to verify patient claim information.

Love just how quickly it works and how simple it is to use with the insurance carriers it supports. It is MUCH easier than dealing with insurance companies directly

It only supports certain carriers and not others, which you don't find out until you need to verify a patient's insurance. I hope they're working to expand to support more carriers!

I do not like this system at all. It is very hard to navigate through Availity. I often wonder if large insurance companies speak to the users of this system? As it is NOT user-friendly! The benefit verification system is so vague.

To the big corporate companies, please ask the small guys like me to show you the difficulties this system faces, which makes our jobs harder.

It asks for a lot of information as far as provider verification and sometimes it's a huge hassle to even verify insurance through there.

This software provides valuable information and makes insurance validation and billing easy. It's simple to send for authorization and referrals on mostly one platform. Almost all of the large companies are available and the information is presented in a way that's clear and easy to understand. This is one of the best platforms I've used.

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

Not all payors participate and the information isn't always accurate or up-to-date. However, that's to be expected in the ever changing world of healthcare.

I'm billing verifying insurance and billing accounts in a timely manner without having to do slow, painful manual verification.

I like how user friendly the application is and how it allowed for quick access to info that can otherwise take a very long time to receive.

I dislike how many qualifications you can make when looking up an insurance plan. Sometime I do not always have the DOB or the NPI number.

It can be very thorough in its investigation of insurance claims, but this can cause issues where Availity has strengths. AKA in its efficiency and ease of use.

I am solving the problem that I can have of checking insurance claims without much patient info but also with ease of use as well as accuracy and efficiency.

What I like best about Availity is that it's really self explanatory and not much information is needed to verify eligibility for a patient. I have used provider's very own websites but this one is honestly just so much easier in every aspect.

I would say I'm not a huge fan of their layout. It could be more modern and updated.

There are times when the information is incorrect and we have to call to verify information.

I like how descriptive Availity is when looking up insurance verification.  The site makes it easy to find claim statuses and benefits for patients easily instead of having to call in each time. I also enjoy the layout of the website because it is easy to maneuver around on.

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

I'm not sure if as a provider you decide what insurance companies are linked with the site, but I wish it offered more of the companies we use.  The list that becomes available to choose from is limited and not with the most common insurance companies.  Because the website is so detailed, at times, the information can seem chaotic and not well categorized.

**What problems is Essentials solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Availity is my main source of verifying insurance benefits for our patients.  I have realized that it has helped cut back on the amount of phone calls I make directly to the insurance companies.  All the information is accurate and detailed.

Setting up  new employees  is very easy with access and to do a password reset.

There sometimes when the site is down although this problem doesn't not last long.

The Availity portal offers healthcare providers with free access to real-time information and instant feedback in a consistent format regardless of the payer.

Not every insurance has the "appeal" feature to appeal or dispute denials online.

Very useful tool for front-desk duties in verifying eligibility and benefits and very useful for medical billing verifying claims and status.

Availity is like one stop shopping for a medical practice. You can verify benefits for several patients at the same time, verify different plans, submit appeals, view and retrieve referrals and prior authorizations. I don't know how any practice could run without it. 

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

The information is not always accurate. We need very specific information. Availity does not allow us to obtain benefits by CPT code and place of service, which is what would help us the most. 

**Recommendations to others considering Essentials:**

You must use availity, if you are not, why not? If you are a BCBS provider, you really have no other choice, so just do it already.

**What problems is Essentials solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefit verification.
Knowing ahead of time how much a patient will owe increases time of service collections.

**What do you like best about Essentials?**

I utilize Availity to check claim status and benefits for our Physical Therapy benefits.  I am able to see a patients eligibility and a portion of their benefits.  I like that Availity is a one stop shop for several insurance plans to get insurance benefits and claims details. Adding and removing providers is a simple task within Availity. It is also fairly simple to add or remove administrative staff and give them permission for only what they need permission for. When I am able to pull claims data it is informative and easy to read. 

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

Availity has a place where you can send an online inquiry about claims.  I have not had great success with this - no one gets back to me.  This would be a great feature if in fact you would hear back from someone.  I haven't found Availity to be extremely user friendly nor has my staff. To obtain benefit information you have to input a lot of information - more than what I typically have to input on any other site.  I would love to just input a name and ID # to get information.  My office also needs more benefit detail than what Availity provides as we are a specialty.

Availity has a lot more to offer than the surface that I've barely scratched.

The business problem we have been able to solve is to save our administrative staff time on the phone.  Decreasing phone time for our billers and front desk staff is huge and financially beneficial for our company.

I love availity! Having a software where I can verify and bundle similar insurances together really helps at our office for appointments. I absolutely love that it saves into the next day so if I need to double check I can quickly scroll down find and select. Availity is good for those who do billing and also appeal claims you are able to connect all insurance networks and get real time updates. 

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

I dont like when it takes awhile to load due to communication issues with the insurance companies or that some insurances can be verified but you are unable to copayment without calling the company directly.

**Recommendations to others considering Essentials:**

IT WILL LITERALLY BE A LIFESAVER IF YOU DO BILLING, INSURANCE VERIFICATION AND CLAIMS APPEAL

**What problems is Essentials solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It cuts down delays in verifying for multiple people via phone, especially if you have alot of urgent care or same day appointment patients. It is verify helpful when it comes to finding out when insurances have ended. I love being able to see an actual member id care if available especially since some of our clients forget their id cards.

I mostly use Availity for insurance verification and remittance viewing.   

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

Some features are complicated and difficult to figure out.

**What problems is Essentials solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is really easy to use to check benefits for a new patient.  I also like the predictability of payments being made on Mondays.

I like the ease of being able to check insurances and submit claims online. It is time saving and makes my job so much easier!

I don’t always get a complete answer and have to call the company later anyway.

The length of time it takes to set up a company from scratch.

Its the only insurance based product that the insurance owns interest in, so its really the best one to use for that reason alone.

It helps us keep track of claims to make sure they are paid timely which in turn helps our cash flow.

I like how many insurance and the different options you can verify, whether its 2nd opinion, office visit etc. 

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

That it doesn't always provide the correct information on copays, especially freedom health and/or UHC.

Obtaining authorizations, viewing auths and referrals. Also I use it daily to verify insurance benefits.

Having access to pre-certifying many Bcbs out-of-state procedures without having to call and endure much often, pretty long wait lines

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

Runs slowly at times, will sometimes re-hook you to the first page when when calling and stating my position, only to be. Another thing, the biggest thing, completely lacking respect of all cleaning and self dignity 

**What problems is Essentials solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to make sure information that is in the payor’s pre rqrmnts, actually meets req’ments; ratting than changing last minute;

Availity is fairly easy to use, the interface is simple and it allows me to submit authorization requests without waiting on hold on the phone forever. 

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

I receive a LOT of unnecessary emails from the company, and spend a lot of time deleting them. 

**Recommendations to others considering Essentials:**

Be prepared for a LOT of unnecessary emails. The program itself is easy to use, and I haven't had issues with it not working. 

**What problems is Essentials solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to obtain authorizations for scans and tests before the patient has them. This ensures accurate billing and payments.

Being able to run elgibility for multiple insurances is amazing. Colors make it easy to see who is active and not. Appreciate messaging system. 

**What do you dislike about Essentials?**

Messaging system not useful half the time, have to call anyway, and wish eligibility pages were standardized to all carry the needed info.

**Recommendations to others considering Essentials:**

Recognize you will still need to call at times.

**What problems is Essentials solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Availity allows us to run eligibility so much faster so we can identify coverage issues while the pt is still in the clinic. Also allows us to solve some COB issues.

It is clear on what is needed to be filled out. It doesn’t let you submit if you have an error.

Error when entering procedure codes. It does not tell you whether each specific service is covered or not.

Cannot search procedures individually.
