I love that I can find unique spaces to promote my business online and advertise to audiences that may otherwise not know I exist. I get excited knowing that I can connect with people and share my passions with them in untraditional ways. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike how the website is set up. Some of it feels counterintuitive and more difficult or confusing to navigate than necessary. I'd love it if they could update their interface for selecting articles to submit information for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've used HARO both as a reporter and as a source. I think it's most helpful as a reporter as a way to find sources on tricky, quirky topics for which your contact list may not be enough. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a source, it's easy to get fatigue with the product. The source requests that come through can be so random that it's hard to anticipate when you'll get something actually relevant to your expertise. Cision hasn't kept up with journalist changes at publications. I have repeatedly searched for a journalist in Cision, only not to find them, and I end up having to Google their name to find their contact information. The functionality of the platform no longer meets all of my needs. That's why we have recently switched to Muck Rack. Not only do they do a much better job of updating journalist information, but everything the journalist has recently published is accessible on one page. After years of working with competitors, we finally made the switch to CISION in 2020 and have been elated ever since. We have an incredible Client Success Manager and an amazing team who support our very complex and nuanced needs, adapting quickly and easily to our ever-changing needs.

Cision has a detailed database of journalists' contact information. We use this tool to send pitches and press releases to targeted media. There's also a helpful news tracking section. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Cision's comprehensive software provides an array of capabilities for today's communications professionals. I personally use their media monitoring software which includes being able to search all news coverage picked up by Cision, and I utilize the built-in analytics/reporting which is useful when dealing with a bulk of news clips and monitored key terms and phrases. For media monitoring purposes, depending on what keywords and topics you're tracking, you may end up with gaps in your coverage. Cision is not one hundred percent at fault, *however*, after having also used Meltwater, its platform was better at capturing online and TV media hits. This is not to say that Meltwater is the better platform, as it has its own shortfalls as well as autorenewal terms that are not disclosed clearly upfront. Cision is constantly improving through more developed insights and data, continually updated insights, and ever-improving interfaces and systems. Having multiple accounts for our team and synchronized insights across all clients is beneficial. We rely daily all on the Cision alerts with press hits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Cision offers a lot, but in that same breath, it takes a lot of education and time spent using the software to become well-equipped to use the insights and tools available successfully. We would welcome the opportunity for more education and tutourial sessions beyond the initial onboarding session, especially as we have been a user for years and the software has been updated in many ways since our first training.
There is also a lot of turnover with the account management teams, which makes it difficult when we need help from our representative to make changes to our user accounts, billing, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
