It's a simple to use software with lots of features included. It's also reasonably priced. Good support. They have a great dashboard for most metrics. Templates are so-so. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've been on Big Commerce for several years. Grew to a few million dollars/year with them on enterprise. Went to cancel (switching to Shopify) and have now waited 3 months for them to cancel and they still charge me $1000/mo. I'm only on a month-to-month plan and no contract. I think they are going bankrupt if it takes them this long. About to file a chargeback with my visa. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find building a website on BigCommerce to be easy, especially considering I am not a 'techy'! Whenever I have had to ask Technical Support whether on Live Chat or by phone they have, without fail, sorted my problem out for me in a very kind and speedy manner. I also like that they send you the chat afterwards so I can go back and check. I have always marked BigCommerce as 10 out of 10 and that has never changed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I honestly can't say I dislike anything about BigCommerce. I find it easy to use and, crucially, the tech support teams whether by phone or live chat are always efficient, kind and have, without fail, always managed to sort my query out. Even when occasionally they have had me asking numerous questions. Always 10 out of 10 reviews from me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ease of implementation and the comfortable payment plans. Customer support is very good in any language. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As it is entering Latin America, it still needs to implement some facilities, which it already has in the United States. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We choose BigCommerce over other headless carts because the cost was cheaper. That ended up being a bad decision. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They inflate their cart's headless capabilities. So many out-of-the-box BigCommerce native checkout integrations don't work on their embedded cart. It's very frustrating, and the sales crew and technical sales crew won't tell you that. They are missing so many endpoints for customers and accounts, its very challenging to build a headless storefront with Bigcommerce, and I wouldn't recommend it. It's easy to use and it's helpful to manage sort data Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lack of customer service. It's poor. Their communication system went down, payment method expired, they admittedly due to internal glitch in communication failed to notify me, proceeds to take site down in peak season, and then offers no make good, proceeds to tell me we don't refund monthly fees?? Meanwhile, a small business during COVID LOSES TWO DAYS OF ONLINE REVENUE AFTER THEY FAIL TO MEET THEIR COMMUNICATION OR ANY COMMUNICATION OBLIGATIONS. THIS IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS. DOESN'T MATTER HOW WONDERFUL THE TOOL IS IF THE COMPANY ISNT WILLING TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE TO A 6 YEAR+ SUBSCRIBER ON THE TWO BIGGEST ONLINE PICKUP HOLIDAY ORDERS OF OUR YEAR. THEN TO BE TOLD REPEATEDLY TOLD, ALBEIT THEY ARE ADDMITTEDLY AT FAULT, WE DONT REIMBURSE ANYONE EVER AND ITS MY OBLIGATION TO UPDATE THE CREDIT CARD DATE?? ARE YPU KIDDING HAVE YOU RUN A SMALL BUSINESS, NO ONE HAS TIME FOR THAT AND THATS WHY WE WERE SIGNED UP FOR AUTO PAY; ALL COMPANIES ON AUTOPAY NOTIFY THEIR CUSTOMERS OF EXPIRING PAYMENT METHODS TO AVOID THIS, BUT WHEN THIS ONE HAS A "GLITCH" AS THEY CALL IT, THEY DONT OWN IT. THEY SAY "OH WELL, LETS JUST GET THE ACCOUNT UP TO DATE AND YOU LOST WHAT YOU LOST. YOUR PROBLEM, NOT OURS." If not resolved to my satisfaction, I, moving to Shopify. I am gravely disappointed that a platform service as well designed as this one is not backed up by a customer service to match. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Good uptime. That's it. That is the only good thing I can say about it. It was never down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Back in 2016 I was with GoDaddy's Quick Shopping Cart. It was lacking in many "modern" features so I looked at upgrading. GoDaddy had started a new shopping cart product, but weirdly it had less features and I was told there were no plans to improve it. Interesting business strategy.
So I looked around and decided on BigCommerce because pricing was better than Shopify (at the time) and they were pretty equivalent. After spending 2 months swapping my store over, I launched and a few days later BigCommerce doubled my monthly fees. They did a big song and dance about how they hadn't raised prices in a long time and it had to happen. After a couple years I started getting hit with volume overage charges each month. And finally in July 2021 they contacted me and said the plan I was on was being eliminated and I would have to go on an enterprise tier for $1200/month.
This made me highly motivated to find an alternative. I just switched a couple weeks ago to Lightspeed for $140/month for everything I had with BigCommerce, plus full inventory integration with my two businesses and for another $35 (and a one time $3500 developer fee) am able to add my second business website to pull from the same inventory. So much more efficient and dirt cheap compared to BigCommerce.
Hey, I just can't afford BigCommerce, right? Well, then I went to cancel. They had to open a case for billing to do the cancellation. 4 days later no word so I called in and the case hadn't been touched. A big song and dance about having to review my contract to see if I am even allowed to cancel. I had to read them the emails I had with their rep in July where I stated I would not sign a contract (because I knew I was not staying for $1200/month).
Why make it hard to cancel? Why make the last thing I remember about their company be a poor customer service experience? I am writing this review 100% because of them wasting my time on trying to cancel their service. It's a big decision to go with a ecom provider - don't make it lightly. And if you want to stay in control of costs, don't go with one of the big guys- you want WooCommerce or similar where you can pay for development as needed (and you can afford it) but keep your monthly overhead as low as possible. Their dedication to gray markets such as CBD and Firearms is the reason we use the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Their inability to keep their platform from breaking. I have numerous tickets open for broken functionality on their website. They don't care. They are more focussed on rolling out new releases with glitches. Old tickets and broken features get swept under the rugs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
