I like that Nielsen is the currency for both television and radio (audio) ratings. I also like the fact that Nielsen has quite a few divisions which provide clients with an option to access additional information and do surveys to discover additional insights. Nielsen is a most reactive company. They are not proactive and rarely are ahead of the curve. Nielsen consistently tries to sell its Scarborough data even though it is not MRC accredited and our repeated stance that we will not buy it until such time that it is. When Nielsen presents an overview of the consumer attitudes as a result of COVID, they virtually ignore African Americans, Hispanics, and other races/ethnicities. Providing demographic information for 18-34, 18-49, and occasionally 25-54 is excellent for the general market. Providing only 12+ for African Americans and Hispanics is not. When clients request the African American and Hispanic data, Nielsen either can't offer it (due to the limited size of its survey) or it takes entirely too much time to get the data. accurate numbers and a broad depth of information related to viewing habits. great to have access into streaming habits. also important for judging sentiment and how viewers are responding to certain content. they have access to the most users so their data tends to be the most complete. For my purposes, I am running reports in Nielsen to access particular data sets I need for TV metrics (impressions). I feel that the ease of use and pretty basic format of the platform, works in my advantage for someone who is not of a dev mindset but needs to pull comprehensive reports. Would really love it if Nielsen offered insights and the ability to pull numbers for streaming and digital content. Currently, we rely on traditional and of that most SVOD viewership is not taken into account.
