Hackerrank is a must have if you are looking to hire software engineers. It is a great platform that makes taking coding interviews a breeze. The functionality of creating tests and sharing with candidates for their submission enabled us to screen candidates and have prescreened and qualified canddiates ready for interviews saving lot of bandwidth for the interviews. The user interface is also quite simple, intuitive and user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a need to enhance the ability of the platform to detect cases where the code has been copied from AI tools and other external sources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love that my engineering team can create new tests, use pre-approved tests, easily log in to review candidate scores per each question on a test. I also love as a recruiter that I can personalize each email template for each test so it's a unique experience for each candidate. I LOVE how it integrates in to Greenhouse, and it's easy to choose which test to send with which email template. It's very easy to re-send a test link to a candidate, and it's very easy to share results outside of the HackerRank platform. We use HackerRank very frequently for the vast majority of our engineering roles. Customer support has been easy to get a hold of when needed, and my Account Manager is extremely helpful. I do think navigating the dashboard and finding the email templates sections is difficult. It takes a lot of digging to find the settings I'm looking for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to configure and review once the tests have been submitted, I also like the feature that shows if the candidates switches between tabs or copy-pasted.
I use it alot! I also really like the ability to export the tests so I can asses the results outside of hackerrank! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dont see any downsides so far from my point of view as a user (not an admin). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I consider the platform to be very intuitive and full of possibilities. The entire creation process is very detailed and well guided. Speaking of implementation, it's extremely simple to create and publish a hiring test, with different approches. Also, the customer support is a highlight - I really appreciate it.
Hackerrank is one of the tabs always open in my browser, I use it almost daily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have difficulty formatting questions and answers; I couldn't say if there is any correct way to deal with fonts, types and sizes, but it's the only part that I don't find that intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
HackerRank has been a game changer for our interview process and has make itso much easier! Being able to screen candidates has freed up time we really didn't have for my tech interviewers. The platform is easy to use and the question bank supplied is extremely helpful. I also appreciate the features that show you when copy/paste and plagarism are detected. The IDE can detect when things are copied into the code from outside the IDE tab, so it might be helpful if there was a way to optionally lock the "Paste" action on assessments to prevent users from pasting solutions into the code. We want them to work in the IDE, not copy things from local or ChatGPT. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the ability to customize tests for all of the tech roles that i hire for. Recently we were having trouble pushing qualified AI/ML engineers through our pipeline. By creating an assessment with the skills question bank, we were able to help weed out non technical candidates earlier in the process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is not much to note here. One thing I have noticed is that when I am working with a stakeholder to create a test there isnt a real easy way to give him/her access to the platform so they can look through all the questions available. The only way to do so is for me to share my screen and do it for them while they tell me what to click, or for them to take control of my screen.
I realize you make money off of seats that have access to the platform. Im wondering if there is way for users of the platform to grant Hiring Managers a limit timed access to the platform for them to create a test much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Clean and easy to use interface. Has good basic IDE features for the candidates taking the test. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No way to close the Input/Output tab by default on opening of code pair test. Always have to close that tab on the right for my dummy test.
The example "at home" tests available for multiple languages are too hard for senior qa automation role. Hence we are stuck with using only 2 tests.
Also lately lot of candidates passing the at home tests are very weak and fail to pass the code pair test. Not sure how can hackerrank help in ensuring candidates that clear at home tests are genuine or not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

HackerRank's tests are very easy to set up, and candidates seem to enjoy using the platform. I also really like how nicely it integrates with our HR platform. Customer support is also very proactive about taking and actioning on feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Occasionally some of the wording on certain questions can be more complicated than necessary. There have been times that we've used the auto-replace feature for leaked questions, and the replaced question could end up being more difficult than what we'd really been wanting (this has been recently fixed though, so very happy to see that). There are tons of inbuilt tests on multiple technologies and coding languages like C, Python, docker, Kubernetes that makes it very easy to create tests. Then there are features to create tests and send them out to the candidates. In addition, you can have a codepairing session that allows you to work together with the candidates while they perform a test and allows to share screen, this allows us to test the candidates in more complex scenerios and talk them through their approach as well.
The test results are presented in a nice format that gives me an overview of the candidate's skills as well option to go deeper. I also like the cheating detection capabilities of the platform that helps to keep out cheaters.
We use hackerrank for every interview and it helps us filter candidates that are suitable for the job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
practical questions for some of the technologies like Kafka and consul aren't easily available. Creating new tests for those aren't very straightforward. I wish there was an option to create or request those tests easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This platform is very easy to use. If you have predetermined questions by your company, it's easy to import them into the platform. There's also many language options to choose from, so candidates have access to any tool they'd like to use. I also enjoy that hackerrank has tools to detect and prevent cheating. As a candidate, you cannot copy/paste. Also once the interview is over, as an interviewer, you can see a timeline of all the changes a person did. Then you can see if anything suspicious happened. One downside is that the platform makes it difficult to make changes to existing questions. Sometimes, there's little things wrong with the question I want to ask the candidate. I want to fix it, but I have to chat with the creator of the question even though we're part of the same organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
