Vertex is the gold standard for tax compliance. If you join a company and they use Vertex products, you know they care about the tax function and, therefore, your role. If they are willing to invest in Vertex, they are showing they value best standards for taxation. We selected Vertex O Series as the integrated sales and use tax solution for our Oracle EBS upgrade. That included the ECM module to manage customer exemption certificates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My favorite feature is the ability to customize taxability decisions and quickly respond to potential data issues though the UI which minimizes the dependency on IT intervention. The full integration of the Exemption Certificate Manager (ECM) module with our EBS system allows the Tax Department to regain control of all taxability decisions. Vertex has been our mainstay for tax determination and calculation from SAP for several years. We like the ease of generating O-series reports for SUT and VAT reporting, and the tax area IDs in our SAP vendor and customer master automatically. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have had a positive experience mostly at first until the last couple of years when we stopped getting O-series logs for all of our transactions and the RFC_UPDATE call doesn't trigger at times, leaving lots of transactions with taxes not calculated. Thankfully, we have been able to connect with several talented individuals at Vertex who are now working on getting this rectified. Vertex does an excellent job of handling sales tax compliance, from calculation to reporting. Vertex O Series is able to handle sales tax for all states and Vertex does an excellent job of updating the rates and rules on a monthly basis. The process of filing sales tax returns is easy with Vertex Returns. The monthly process of converting all of the data from O Series to Returns is a simple process. In the times that we have needed customer assistance, the support team from Vertex has been able to quickly assist us with our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are some basic functionality features that could be added to Vertex O Series that would make it easier to use. Many of the menu options do not offer Excel exports of large amounts of table data that would make the data easier to analyze. An example of this is the tax rate lookup feature. There is a tax rate lookup screen that is helpful to review rates one at a time, but it would be nice to have a report that includes all rates for a given state, etc. There are a few screens within O Series that would greatly benefit from a simple export feature. Vertex O series is configured to handled standard data as well as providing flexiblity. Using flexible fields, tax assist rules, and lookup tables have allowed our business to configure our indirect calculations properly and provided detail reports for returns. More training is needed to better understand everything Vertex can do. Not necessarily a bad thing, however, if a cost is involved the company may not be happy to allow us to enrol. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have used Vertex for many years and have seen the growth. One of the best things is that when there is a complex indirect tax footprint, Vertex can be utilized to meet every need. Regardless of the tax data elements needed to make a tax decision, the software can be configured to meet the need. Their tax content and capability to configure your needs set them above others. There were too many to have just one so I am going to list them here:

1. Philanthropy + Swag - I absolutely love the engagement motivated by the chips and the swag was pretty awesome too (blankets were the best)

2. I did like having the booths in the main dinning area because it was less walking and I was able to visit almost every one of them this time.

3. CANDY WALL - This is only third because I probably should not have been eating as much candy as I did.

4. I loved all the visual effects and the extra monitors everywhere with the agenda and such.

5. Loved having 2 keynotes with real companies.

6. The DJ and the performance!!!!!

7. The puppies were perfect and a post covid comfort.

All the sessions that were more technical that I wanted to go to seemed to be during the same time slots on both Tues and Wed.

The engagement hub sessions were extremely hard to hear and asking questions was very difficult for everyone. This was worse during breaks or when lots of people were in the large room.

The process around submitting a service request. The documentation and process to prove our case is cumbersome and time consuming. Research should be more proactive in my opinion and meet me in the middle at least. I'm in the leasing industry and it is unique. I feel that I constantly have to prove what I need instead of research trying to understand. Cases are closed without resolution and understanding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The process for submitting support tickets. Often we know what the issue is and how to resolve it and we provide that information in the supprt case.
