I love how Vertex calculates our sales tax for all of my company's ecommerce orders. I appreciate that as jurisdictions change tax rules and rates, everything is automatically updated in our system. The O-series really helps with our ecommerce sales tax calculation, and it's constantly fluid and updating. It's mostly automated, which means we don't even have to think about it. The taxability information available in the tool. I am able to look up a specific taxability category and see what states a product is taxable in as well as the specific state rules related to that product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When it comes to reporting, I find that some of the reports in Vertex are confusing and feel more like a data dump than a truly usable report. Customer support tickets can take awhile to get to the right contact. We work closely with the tax research team and typically our support tickets are inquiring about their content but it takes awhile to get the ticket escalated to the correct person when we already know what is wrong. And by the time we get down to a solution its already been multiple MDU releases. Additionally, the SOCs do not provide any context as to why a change was made so we waste a lot of time trying to identify if content was just a fix or an actual law change. Vertex works great for US and CA SUT/GST/HST tax calculations. I like the customizability with the Tax Assist Rules. I like that they offer multiple products Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It would be nice if the Vertex products had a direct connection between the different products, ie. O Series ON Demand to VAT Compliance / VITR / Express Returns, etc. The UI on Vertex O tends to change without notice. With Service Releases/updates, functionality that was working is no longer working. The documentation for all products could be more robust. Additional matrices for all Imposition Types and Recoverability is greatly needed. Better documentation on how certain tax types/impositions work with the ERP would be great.
