For me, UserGuiding proved to be a surprisingly easy and reasonably priced way to implement a website UI fix for conversion rate optimization when a re-design was not an option. It allowed me to prototype and demo a solution in less than a day, impressing a new client and securing the account. I can envision a variety of scenarios in which UserGuiding will be my go-to tool. I was particularly impressed with it's ability to easily identify target UI elements either by simple point-and-click, or more specifically by CSS class or IDs. The option to use regular expresssions to trigger Guides for the right audience was also very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only (mild) complaint I have is the somewhat limited number of Monthly Active Users (2,500). However, this can be managed by selectively placing the container code on target pages using Google Tag Manager. And when I contacted customer support, they responded within 24 hours. It was really quick and easy to implement, Customer Support was great at the start and continues to be really helpful at answering any questions we have now that we've been actively using UserGuiding for a while. In terms of creating content, it's really easy to do this and you can include videos, articles / documents via URL and customise the content to make it look like it's part of your product instead of a layover app. We use Guides, hotspots and the resource centers all the time to help with how to guides and new feature announcements. The Hot Spots are okay, but I don't like that you can't customise the tooltip, it's either a dot, an 'i' or a '?'. You can't add wording to the tooltip, change the shape or get the tooltip itself to have any actions. The actions appear when hovering over the hotspot and can appear in a strange place on the screen and move about. When using an element to determine the position of the hotspot, if the element is no longer visible on the screen due to scrolling, the hotspot still remains visible which is a bit odd if the relevant element no longer appears.

We use userguiding to show videos explaining our software to new users. Uploading these videos and setting up the settings was very user friendly for me, without ever using is before Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When we used textual userguides, it would sometimes glitch out for users and the guide would just stop. That is actually one of the reasons I decided to move to video explanations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

UserGuiding has a relatively simple user interface and excellent learning resources. They incorporate user guides, user polls, and user analytics at a very reasonable price with multiple levels to meet the needs of organizations of various sizes.
UserGuiding does require development to embed their container code in the header of your platform, but after that creating, editing, and setting up user guides is completely handled via the User Guiding Management Dashboard interface.

UserGuiding can experience difficulties identifying some web parts (on-screen components) reliably. The fix for this issue does require some development work to assign specific id's to each component that can be used for CSS identification on UserGuiding, but that has been the only significant shortcoming I have experienced. It misses some features that would be useful, for example: When selecting a large object (nearly a full screen), you do not have the option to place the bubble with text inside of the selection, and when the bubble is placed outside of the selection, the text is not visible.
