I like the ability to customize web forms and export code that I can fully integrate into websites Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do not like the events calendar and registration because I cannot integrate it into our website smoothly. Our only option is to reskin it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Target X is easy to use most of the time. The ease of programming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The glitches that happen on a regular basis. The glitches affect productivity and our response to students. Make sure bugs are out of updates before sending them out Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Application Review tool is one of the best. In fact, I've heard that some schools picked TargetX based on this one thing. They wanted to really standardize workflow in application review and this helped them do it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have never seen a web app with worse or a more disjoint user interface. There are literally 4 different eras of user interface. You'll find stuff that is coded to look like salesforce classic, you'll find sections that look like salesforce lightning, you'll find a platform called TargetX builder that is their 3rd gen UI, but I think that's also been abandoned and now they are developing some UI that lives entirely on their servers and doesn't integrate at all with the Salesforce CRM. When they released their loudly-touted new SMS solution, it was worse than the old one and had almost no integration with the CRM. Separate window to bookmark and no data goes back and forth except basic contact details.
Also, settings for TargetX are stored in about 15 different locations each of them with wildly divergent paths to get to the settings. There is not one setting panel. There are Salesforce settings, "Custom settings," things that exist as a custom object, things that live in TargetX builder, and the main job of a TargetX admin is memorizing all the places where you might go to change things.
Essentially, you need an IT team of 2+ people dedicated to running TargetX or you need to purchase their additional service where they do all the configuration for you.
Also, new features are usually half-baked when released. Just sayin. A fix for an issue will be promised to be just months away for 1-3 years and then when it does get released, the new UI is nothing like what you're used to and only has 1/2 the promised functionality. And they announce it with great fanfare! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Support and robust back end that will be extensible to other processes. Everyone is given an implementation consultant to help initial stages. All have been very out of the box thinkers. I bring up issues and I get responses from, sometimes, the highest level. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Inflexibility with accessing different Saleseforce Objects in modules or different applications within the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ability to customize to fit our needs - we needed to add some custom objects and that has been very easy to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am sometimes frustrated with email builder. The new email builder is occasionally tricky to get the text appropriately formatted. It will look ok in the preview, but the actual send looks different. Also, I don't particularly appreciate that the email campaigns have a built-in 'safeguard' which will put the email broadcast on hold if there is a 'significant change in the number of people it will be sent to. There have been occasions when I schedule an event email reminder on a Thursday (I am out of the office on Friday) to go out the morning of the Saturday event, and between the time I schedule the email and that morning, enough students have registered so that the broadcast is placed on hold. Once on hold, I have to go into the system and release the broadcast - which defeats the purpose of even scheduling the broadcast in advance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
TargetX customer support along with the service offerings are unmatched in the higher ed recruitment vertical. We have been a customer for more than five years and have been very happy with the product offerings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You have to use Salesforce which means you have to pay for a Salesforce license. It would be great if there was a bundled package where only one payment was made. We endured the growing pains of the smaller company and was able to partner with TargetX to create a solution that not only worked for us but other clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
TargetX integrates apps from other vendors to work seamlessly with their own tools. TargetX support is always eager to answer questions and resolve issues, as well as working to improve their tools and offer even more solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some features and settings are well-hidden. Lightning Experience is helping to make things more consistent so it's getting better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that it is user-friendly and customizable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are certain fields/features that aren't easy to report and get all of the information that you want. The new SMS system isn't reportable that I can find, and it doesn't log text messages to the student detail screen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Their solution fits our needs for providing excellent service to our prospective students and families across the whole recruitment cycle. Before TargetX our enrollment activities were spread across multiple pieces of software and spreadsheets, so it's a real pleasure to have an all-in-one solution. The company is constantly innovating, and seeking feedback from their customers, which I greatly appreciate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
TargetX is built on the Salesforce platform, so, initially, it's a little tricky to get a handle on what was native to Salesforce, and what TargetX had produced. I think it takes a bit of tech-savvy and some time to become well-versed in the system, but once you do, it is extremely flexible and adaptable to fit your needs. Upgrades are not automatically included, so we recently added their "Premiere Lite" service package so that their team will handle four upgrades per year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
TargetX offers a prebuilt, yet highly customizable, solution for recruitment and admissions built on top of the Salesforce platform. TargetX has responsive and helpful support. There is a vibrant and helpful user community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Although it is highly customizable, by nature of it being a pre-built solution, there are limits to what can be changed. Also, keeping up with the monthly package updates can be a challenge. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
