**What do you like best about Slate by Technolutions?**

I find Slate by Technolutions incredibly useful for our college admissions CRM. The best part about it is how easy it is to access student-level data. The ability to track our communications and activities makes it simple to see where a student is in the admissions process. I particularly like the Timeline feature which lets me see all of our interactions, and it's also very easy to add materials to each student profile. Additionally, we find it easy to use for event management, handling registrations, communications, and tracking seamlessly. Slate has made a significant difference in simplifying our processes.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

The application Reader function is not as intuitive as some competitors. It is clunky to move applications from one bin to the next and difficult to navigate in and out of the Reader.

**What problems is Slate by Technolutions solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Slate for territory management, processing applications, ad hoc communications, campaigns, and data reporting. It's easy to access student data, track communications, and manage events, which simplifies our admissions process.

Helpful with guiding students through the application process for our institution and pairing with 3rd party ETL applications to integrate with various institutional systems.

Not many things I dislike.  We pair with a separate marketing tool to use more dynamic flow and content as well as connect with ad partners.

Providing a seamless way for both applicants (prospective students) and staff (admission and operations) to work through the admission funnel.

I love the ability Slate gives to create queries and gather data relevant to any project. It is highly flexible and can be used in many ways. Every department on our campus uses it.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

I do not like the layout of Slate, and I also do not find it very user-friendly. We often have the idea of how to use it, but need someone more skilled in Slate on campus to help us get it done.

Slate helps us send mass communications, organize all potential recruits across departments, and keep records of different schools we have visited as well as people who have come to visit us.

It is the easiest application management tool I've ever used in my 12 years working in college admissions.

It is complicated to implement from a tech perspective and so you have to have a person on staff who can do that or hire someone.

They create a beautiful user experience for students applying to our university. It's also easy to use for employees.

Everything is better with Slate! When we switched CRM's we were able to improve our features drastically. The ease of use and functionality far outrank other CRM's we've used.

The support from the Technoulations staff can sometimes take longer to respond or encourage other schools to help you out.

**What problems is Slate by Technolutions solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are solving system flaws of other systems. The benefit is the array of features that Slate has with no additional cost. We are able to do so much. Even accross campus.

**What do you like best about Slate by Technolutions?**

I use Slate mostly to create emails for drip campaigns. I appreciate that it's fairly easy to use and that you can easily see performance stats for each email. I love how content blocks make it give you the ability to streamline emails and make edits without stopping anything. The ability to use liquid mark-up in emails to point different audiences to different CTAs is also awesome...once you get the hang of it, it can do almost anything you need it to. It's a really powerful tool and it can do so much more than emails (and we use it for much more). Setting calendar events and sign-ups, letting students reply to an email and having that message go directly to admissions, creating portal pages for students at various stages of the funnel. It's kind of sprawling in all the things it can do so we have different people focusing on different things.. I'm almost impressed by what we are able to do with it.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

Sometimes it seems like there's things that should be easy to do, but it involves a lot of finnicking instead. But they're always making improvements and I've seen the benefits of that over the past few years.

**Recommendations to others considering Slate by Technolutions:**

Having a good tech person on your team makes all the difference in utilizing what Slate has to offer.

**What problems is Slate by Technolutions solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using liquid mark-up and content blocks means having to create fewer emails. For my work, that solves a huge problem of not having enough time to create content for so many emails. Eleven emails become one, which saves me time down the road, too.

**What do you like best about Slate by Technolutions?**

Slate somehow pulls off the one-size-fits-all approach for higher ed CRM needs. Especially for those in admission work, this platform can fill a wide variety of functions, including outreach, metrics, event management, and more. It has made connecting with prospective students far easier, and also helps us stay organized across different departments. We've begun expanding to use within our current student population as well, which opens up many new avenues for implementation. There is also a wide array of other users, so if you have a question, it's likely been answered in a forum already.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

As with any new platform, there is a slight learning curve when starting on. Implementation can also pose challenges, but it's mainly because folks in admission work are used to having to abide by the rules of the platform that they are using. Slate lets you write your own rules, which can be freeing, but also challenging in its own right.

**What problems is Slate by Technolutions solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our institution is using slate as a CRM for outreach to prospective students and family members. We're expanding this to use for engagement with current students at our institution, as well. Benefits realized included bringing our outreach and recruitment into the 20th century with new features like metrics for engagement with email contact.

Slate is a great CRM. it is customizable and helps us to most efficiently track and communicate with our admissions prospects at our institution. It is cloud-based, which has been huge for our remote team.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

Slate's user experience can often be a bit simple. It isn't as elegant as other CRM's without time to properly build. While aesthetics cannot yet be our priority, it would be great to have quick and straightforward options to boost the appearance of our end users.

We use Slate as a customer management tool as a higher education institution. Benefits include easy communication platforms, trackable outreach, and easy-to-build reports for senior team staff looking for data.

Slate has the ability to merge and consolidate records.  The upload process is super easy.  The batch acquire function allows the materials to be put right into the record.
All the information I need can be put on the dashboard so I don't need to view multiple screens.

The field names are not intutive. I am new to the product but as a new user it is complex to me. Building the queries is a challenge wish their was a tutorial to explain process and terminology.

There are a lot of great features.   Be sure to ask about ALL the special features so that your company can benefit.

Combining data has been a huge time saver.  Editing data is fast and efficient. Reports and queries save a TON of time.

The automation of slate is very helpful. I appreciate the texting and phone call integration and well as customizable emails. I think this software is most helpful in marketing to our clients

The scheduler feature doesn't sync with Microsoft outlook. I wish it could integrated with calendly as well. I would want a function where it notifies you when a new material is posted in certain accounts.

If you need to communicate and market to your clients regularly, slate is a great tool to use.

We can find our target demographics and communicate with clients more fluidly. It makes our work more efficient with the automation features. Business performance has increased in using Slate.

Once you get queries under your belt, your ability to territory manager will sky rocket. I kept track of my students daily with my queries that I ran in the morning.

Has a bit of a learning curve. I never did master reports.

I feel bad for those using salesforce. Organizing data and creating comm contact points are so easy with slate. Having a great CRM gives me the ability to continue contact with a student, or read between the lines. I appreciate that.

I love how it solves multiple issues within one platform. Previously we had to have several vendors to do one thing. For instance, with email marketing we had to design emails within salesforce to connect to our email database within our CRM. We also had to use a separate system aside from our CRM in order to text people within our funnel. With Slate we can do email, text, and have our CRM in one space. Plus, so much more.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

On the email marketing side there are several steps that can be confusing. But I'm the benefits of Slate far outweigh this one minor inconvenience.

Slate is by far the best admissions product I've ever used. It's incredibly intuitive and user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

I'm not a huge fan of the service desk ticket process. While they are always quick and always help resolve my issues, I'm much more of a get on the phone and talk to someone person. This is definitely not a bad way of addressing issues; it's just not my preferred learning method and communicating.

**Recommendations to others considering Slate by Technolutions:**

No matter your budget, Slate is worth every single penny. I've worked in multiple CRM's, and I could never go back to the inferiority of other products or their support staff.

System integrations, ease of use and management for Enrollment users instead of IT or Software development, phenomenal support and software improvement.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

There are a few gaps between how a process "feels like it should work" versus "how Slate expects it to work", but these are generally logical and have more to do with learning how Slate works and unlearning old systems. Could have some better reporting options.

**Recommendations to others considering Slate by Technolutions:**

Baseline it does everything we've needed and somethings that we thought were out of our reach. Working with the tool makes sense in a way our previous system did not. The training is exceptionally valuable, as is the knowledge base and "Slate Scholars" systems. The helpdesk is also fantastic.

**What problems is Slate by Technolutions solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Greatly reduced the need for IT support of the Enrollment systems while greatly increasing Enrollment's control and agility to respond to changes. Fantastic automation and integration with SIS system and other uses.

I love the query builder and the deliver email builder. Both of them operate seamlessly once you get the hang of all the terminology. Both offer easy ways to find and preview your audiences.

Some of the terminology is hard to wrap your head around. However, slate has an excellent knowledge base, so I've had better luck learning it than other CRMs.

Let it be your main CRM from recruiting students to communicating to them as alumni.

We're using it for the entire undergraduate recruitment cycle and it's proving to be beneficial managing prospective student's information.

I love that Slate makes it easy to communicate, track engage and help streamline communications.

I wish it was easier to contact actual help via the service desk and focus calls. When I’m having an issue I would like to be able to pickup the phone and call someone not email back and forth to schedule a time to talk to solve the problem.

We solved communication to prospects not happening consistently, changed internal form usage to help the work flow improve and are able to have actual data to report

**What do you like best about Slate by Technolutions?**

Technolutions is the best CRM in the business. It's highly customizable which allows users to use in ways that meets their needs. We are a graduate school and manage 20+ programs with very unique needs, thanks to Slate, we are able to cater to each program with ease.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

There are a few features that I would like implemented. However, I appreciate that there is a board to ask for features and upvote them. I would have liked a more hands on implementation manager.

Definitely consider it and look into it. It is highly customizable which makes it fit a variety of processes. 

**What problems is Slate by Technolutions solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Now we can update the application on the fly whenever we add, or take away programs, which we were not able to do before. We are also able to better collect information from our applicants ensuring a more accurate picture when reviewing applications. It has also been great to be able to schedule and automate email campaigns.

I like that Slate allows me to look at how many pings our students have on our website, emails, etc.

It’s not user friendly. There are much more user-friendly CRMs

Everything is in one- currently I work in Sales within Higher Ed and the product works great and is built to do this. Being in the cloud is great.

Certain things look outdated and the email marketing is area, but I'm sure they've made updates.

There are so many features that it does take some time to acclimate to all of them

**What do you like best about Slate by Technolutions?**

Our office used to work with an older system called ImageNow in order to scan admissions documents and connect them to the correct profiles. It was a slow step by step process. First you scan. Then you QA the pages, then you have to have the system and the web browser open. However, Slate simplifies this all into one step, with only one browser open

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

The search engine seems to be quite limited at times. Although it has the capability of refining the search, it's not easily readily and accessible.

**What problems is Slate by Technolutions solving and how is that benefiting you?**

speed. We used to have about 25 student assistants working in order to process all documents and inquiries in a timely manner, but with Slate, we've gone down to only 11 student assistants and 15 during the busy month. Even then, with the speed of slate, we are running out of work to do!

**What do you like best about Slate by Technolutions?**

I loved how you can specialize and change so many features to match the needs of each platform. Although it was mainly used through Enrollment Management, I used this software for New Student Orientation and controlled messaging, surveys, data, event attendance, and correspondence all through Slate. The app is amazing, the site even better. I have never loved a more intuitive system with so many custom features. I love that other institution connect and chat with one another rather than see it as competition, they work on projects together and even share code/programming with one another if they're already built something of great quality or use. We used this with over 5 on campus offices/departments and the information was so easily shared between so many key players and users that I can't imagine going back to something less brilliant.

I dislike that there weren't more people that could gain access to large scale alterations, it may have been institutional but there wasn't a lot of free range in some cases with altering report characteristics. I didn't like how boring some of the interface areas were. There's little creative range on how to make that more aesthetically pleasing.

I love this software. I'd highly recommend it to anyone at higher ed institutions or similar. The program drastically improved functionality, data integration and multi-person use campus wide.

The previous SOS/Student Information Software was handmade through online systems that were from the 90s. It was so terrible to change functions, reports, data, rsvp event, or really much of anything. This software took so much manual labor/time and streamlined it into a hyper-efficient, ready to go program that made my life and data integration so much simpler.

**What do you like best about Slate by Technolutions?**

Slate allows us to quickly maintain a database of all of our students with customizable fields and data. All data is very easily queriable, whether a student is an applicant or prospect. We can easily create letters, rules for maintaining accounts and communications, inquiry forms that look attractive and can be placed on a website, and everything else we need for maintaining and speaking with our customer base.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

For the high cost, support can be somewhat shoddy. Promised upgrades to the software can end up taking years to manifest (if ever) after they are announced. 

The system is also only created for higher ed uses, would not be helpful for others.

**Recommendations to others considering Slate by Technolutions:**

Be prepared for a lengthy and difficult implementation if not using common app, the process took us about a year and even now we are constantly making changes. At least one Slate 'super user' and a backup must be available on campus for when things break.

Extremely user-friendly CRM means that productivity is increased - anyone in the office is capable of learning and using the system. Slate has helped us move away from paper applications and forms, everything is kept in an online record which leaves less room for error.

- It is user friendly and easy to learn
- It is highly functional and easy to adapt to varying enrollment demands

- It enables effective com automation that is both efficient and personalized

The phone and tablet apps still need to be improved a little and SLATE does not yet offer a full SIS functionality.

I haven’t found anything recently.  I have been using this for almost  a year now. There have been times when slate would run slower than normal but I feel like that always happens with any system.

This portal service helps us manage our applicant pool for students applying to our university and makes it easier for multiple people to make notes on files and keep a record of communications with students. 

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

The appearance of the website is a little clunky and dated. It kinda looks like an old Windows 98 program.

**What problems is Slate by Technolutions solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can now provide better customer service to applying students and families due to our better ability to see where the student is in the application process and better record keeping with prior communications with students. We can pull more individualized reports to understand the data trends for who is applying.

Great platform to bring together events, messages, appointments. My favorite concept about slate is that I can register attendees of an event and then mark them as attended. This helps my organization keep track of who to send follow-up emails to.

It is not very intuitive to use. Some things are placed where I would not expect them to be. It should be a little easier to create an event without creating so many other folders within it.

Slate is designed specifically for higher ed admissions and delivers on every aspect of our recruitment operation. With Slate we are able to manage travel recruitment strategies, execute our print and digital communications plan, import prospect and applicant data from various sources, create custom forms and applications, read apps and make final admissions decisions. Slate releases updates constantly and support is readily available.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

While not often, there are occasions when custom sql is needed which can take some time for technolutions to build or respond to a request. Also, the major lacking feature is a task management system for our staff users. There is a feature in production but currently unavailable.

**What problems is Slate by Technolutions solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are receiving cleaner and consistent data which makes our business intelligent exponentially better than previous operations. We have also automated many tasks eliminating wasted man hours.

I love the fact that recruitment data and admissions data is in one place. It makes it very easy to enter data myself, research information for choosing recruitment strategies based on data, and communicate with students.

I wish that queries were a bit easier to use. Choosing the language necessary to get the information I would like from the dataset is a bit confusing, so I often need to reference previous queries to find the information I need.

I would recommend having documents that outline common uses and the steps involved for your office for new hires. I would also recommend having a training for the use of queries, as these are very helpful/powerful for users to get information for themselves, but it can be tricky.

Streamlining messaging, recruitment, data collection, and admissions information into one very powerful system and database is very helpful in my work as an admissions counselor.

You can truly do anything you want to do in Slate. The support is incredible - you'll be able to work with their team to help you set up sophisticated processes.

If you don't have the resources to devote someone to Slate full-time, or if you are looking for a CRM that will have a support team do everything for you, Slate isn't for you. They will really "teach you to fish" instead of "giving you a fish."

Our previous provider had no support, was difficult to navigate, and just wasn't able to do the things we needed. With Slate, we can log in anywhere, do work offline, and set permissions for users campus-wide.

 Slate is very user-friendly. Even if you weren’t an admissions counselor, you could understand what the functionality of this website is and does.  You can do anything from managing text messages sent to students to reviewing applications to answering and tracking emails.

**What do you dislike about Slate by Technolutions?**

 The technology is still slightly new, so there are some  improvements that need to be made. But, luckily, as an admissions counselor, I don’t have to deal with them! It’s mostly the background data management side that struggles with how to do certain things.

Ease of reviewing applications! It’s so nice to not have to review applications on paper anymore!

The ability to track applicants' materials from start to finish, the batch capability to assign readers during admission process, the communication capability, and the ease of access from anywhere.

The app is not perfectly designed, so it is hard to access from a mobile device. Also, some of the custom reports are hard to use (for example, the delivery reports for messages sent through the internal function doesn't provide recipient name).

The dashboard is my favorite part. Love that I can have the overview of the record, as well as, direct link to specific aspects of the record

I am still in the progress of working on figuring out sending off the same email to multiple records. Different than sending off automatic comm. It seems like a lengthy process for one email, using mail merge through word is easier.

We are solving getting communication out to students quicker and more efficiently. The benefits is being able to jump from one record to the next quickly.
