The downsides to Owler for us have been that they have very limited information for small construction firms which is who we really need data on. Since PR and media heavily influences the data available for companies, its tough in an industry that doesn't have many companies who have a big media presence. As I had the free subscription (which has changed over time, reducing the number of logo's one can follow), I had to curate the list of logo's I would follow. Overall, for the free subscription that I had, it did the job pretty well overall. Depending on my requested schedule, it did a decent job of scrubbing the internet for stories that are relevant to the companies I want to know about. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As time went on, the number of logo's I could follow was reduced (I don't blame Owler for this, as they do have to make money too...) and one pretty much gets a very small list of stories for that followed company. It may be different for the paid subscription, so I can't say that my evaluation is the best assessment of the entire service given by Owler, but in the absence of anything else, it has given me some better articles.. even more than the Google News Tracker service. I have used Owler for research and news for quite a long time - I like their interface, for the most part their company details are very accurate, the email news feeds from my selected companies is useful and their support has always been responsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I know this isn't helpful to say but I really don't have a lot of negatives/cons. If I could change one thing it would be to enable more information to be included with my profile. Owler is a huge help as I look to find new or communicate with existing client companies. Instead of needing to go to each individual company's website, Owler collects any/all recent and relevant headlines for your "followed" companies which saves time, provides easy engagement ideas for making outreach to your followed companies.
