It's not a complicated applicant tracking system, so it's pretty easy to set up on your own and use without extensive training. HiringThing does a great job of keeping track of applicants, tagging, searching across all job postings, saves message templates, and has basic reporting. HiringThing can post your jobs to multiple sites including the major ones like LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, etc. I like the Review feature which allows each reviewer to add their own star rating and notes, making it easy for groups to review applicants together. There are some basic customization options (like color, logo, etc) but nothing intense, which I think makes it really easy to get started fast. Overall, it doesn't have a ton of bells and whistles but that's ok! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The scheduling feature is not very useful. You'll still need to use another calendar/scheduling system, especially for multi-person/panel interviews. No integration with Microsoft Teams. You won't be able to auto post to smaller/more niche job posting sites, so if there are sites that are specific to your industry/geography, you'll need to post there on your own. I like the ease of usage. The learning curve is not at all too steep, and it is Very user intuitive! A few training sessions is all new users will need! Additionally, the Dashboard is on your landing page & can be found extremely quickly. It provides the most up to date information on your reqs and candidate activity. You can separate between new and existing candidates, and you can rate them with a helpful star system! Users can rank from zero stars to five stars in a very easy to read system. From there, all ratings and candidates can be shared among recruiters and managers of the reqs. Also, you can email candidates directly from the applied reqs. This is a big help! This allows you and all users to centralize all communication with candidates strictly and exclusively in the tool. This removes the need of using external emails and allows for all users to be on the same page at all times and reduce redundancy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In certain instances, the tool feels a little too simplistic. It can feel a bit sparse & could use a look upgrade. Updating the look will speak more to HiringThing's branding, and will make it far easier to identify and separate from other Applicant Tracking Systems. Also, it can be a little difficult navigating how to properly customize specific questions and attributes to be added to applications. If it was easier to facilitate making those much needed changes and customizations, it would make the tool even better. The tool also has one other option I would like to see improved. When reviewing your dashboard, you will be brought directly to your req volume & current open req volume. In the tool and for each req, the system automatically defaults to display "new" applications and applicants only. This can be sometimes very confusing if you are looking to build a talent pool or may be moving quickly. It has its good to it, and also its bad as does everything else, but this is unfortunate sometimes, and can also sometimes lead to losing candidates. Many things! This is my third ATS. It's intuitive and easy to figure out without a lot of training, tutorials, or other time-consuming processes. And yet, it does more than systems that appear to be more complex. You can keep this as simple or make it as complex as you want. This is seriously what you wish an ATS was! On top of all that - you can make it really look like your employment brand - not something that looks like other ATS company or even a co-brand. It looks like your organization. Even the URL!
