BIM objects are libraries that allow users to browse 3D BIM objects to incorporate into architectural designs. BIM objects can range from fixed geometrical shapes (such as windows and doors) or building objects (such as carpets, roofing, and walls). Designers utilize BIM objects to enhance the overall feel and look of an architectural design as well as speed up design time by choosing from premade designs. Generally, designers will download 3D BIM objects from the BIM object platform and then place those objects directly into building information modeling software. As such, these two software are often used in conjunction with one another.
To qualify for inclusion in the BIM Objects category, a product must:
Allow users to download BIM objects in a variety of file formats
Provide a library of layered and component BIM objects
