Top Rated Flat Alternatives

Easy to use. Easy to learn. Good free tier. Best UX for complex, inter-related work. We get one place to breakdown tasks for a topic and all discussions around it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Smaller UX points like a bit more flexibility for writing tasks. And centralised updates across workspace or account. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Flat has made it really easy for our team to collaborate with each other. Transitioning from Jira was a breeze for us and we've never looked back. It has largely consolidated our scattered usage of Google Docs & Notion too, and it's really nice to have all of our information in one place. The free tier gave us access to everything we needed as a small team, and it's priced competively for when we're ready to grow.
The Flat team actively reached out for feedback early on in our transition and it's clear that they put a lot of time and thought into understand how different teams might look to use Flat.
There is also a Desktop application which super quick and easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We haven't had any problems with Flat. I'm confident that if we did the support team would be responsive to address any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Flat provides all the necessary features and functionality with none of the bloat and complexity that beguile most web apps. Flat is useful both to manage one's own tasks and projects but most importantly to keep in synch with your team and company - it's truly the one place where you can see the status of any project or task, see links to any details and have a threaded conversation to ask questions or add comments. The company is very responsive to feedback and continously makes Flat better and easier to use. It was incredibly easy to get started using Flat while continuing to use all my other SaaS tools. I wish Flat had a native mobile app, specifically one for iOS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Big fan of Flat. More strucure than Notion, richer than Trello, without the complexity of JIRA. It's my tool of choice for managing small product (software engineering + design etc) teams. I got going with it instantly zero learning curve.
Also -- very cool -- I asked for a feature and they added it within a week, amazing! It was a small convenience kind of thing but still quite nice and I use it now every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No dislikes yet. I guess it could have more bells and whistles added at some point but so far haven't needed any. And I worry that bloat may make Flat less easy which is what's really great about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Flat has been a rock-solid and super-lightweight project management tool. It's focused, extremely approachable, and does everything I need it to.. I've looped in a few collaborators and clients to keep our projects on track and everyone seems to pick it up right away without feeling overwhelmed or needing me to walk them through how to use it. It's steamlined and focused nature means that for more complex projects or relationships, Flat may not have the range of features you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The team at Flat has put thought in how to organize and collaborate as a team, and simplified the user experience of their software accordingly. Flat makes our team work better together without adding more work. As an admin it is easy for me to implement, manage people, projects, and integrations with other products. Plus get the customer support when we need it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Flat is an early stage company so you can't expect every possible feature and integration, but that is not a problem because 1) they listen to customer feedback and incorporate this quickly, and 2) the essence of Flat is keeping it simple so better not to complicate it. I coordinate/support student workers and with our student entrepreneurs in our InnovationX program through FLAT. I've utilized ASANA and other solutions for years now and I'm glad I finally got learn about FLAT.
It's a dream to use this software and coordinate with various stakeholders. I can't emphasize how easy it is to stay informed with all the moving parts of our organization. If you are looking for a new way to getting work done, I highly recommend FLAT! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish the other aspects of my administrative role integrated FLAT in our day-to-day operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Flat's greatness lies in its focus—it doesn't attempt to be all things to all people. Unlike Trello after it was acquired by Atlassian, Flat serves as the central hub for your work, rather than trying to encompass the work itself. The simplicity of Flat isn't a result of immaturity; rather, it's the deliberate removal of anything extraneous, leaving behind an unparalleled user experience. We'd like to be able to share individual topics with people outside our organization; right now we can only add guest users but that's not granular enough for some use cases. We'd also love to be able to reply to email notifications directly rather than having to jump into the app to do that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Flat prioritizes simplicity, usability, and the ability to collaborate *without interrupting each other on Slack all day*. As a product manager I've tried pretty much all of these tools over the years (e.g. jira, asana, trello, monday, etc.) and they tend to be way too complicated and frustrating to use or inflexible — and none of them have ever fully done the job. This is the first one of these tools that I've seen and just immediately clicked with; it's thoughtful and well-crafted at all levels and true to its mission to "stay out of your team's way so you can work". Somehow, magically, it has retained simplicity while still offering flexibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At first, because there are so many both simple and complex project management tools out there, it's hard to discern the magical value that it has. So it'll be important for users to try it out so they can understand how well it does the job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the simplicity in Flat. It uses a familiar interface that's intuitive and fun to work with. Adding and giving visibility to external collaborators is very simple and useful for us since we have several contractors we regularly work with.
My team adopted Flat right from the start. No one complained. I have never seen a project management tool with such wide acceptance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As our company grows, I find it more and more useful to be able to better predict deliveries. I wish there was a built-in gantt like chart. However, thanks to Flat's API, I was able to create one using Google sheets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
