What do you like best about D&B Hoovers?

I like the ability to do competitive research quickly and easily. The platform is very user friendly as well. We have seen some good improvements over the past few years with user interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We use Avention to pull together data on new and prospective clients, competitors and individuals and specific companies. Combined with LinkedIn it has been a useful tool for marketing and business development. What do you like best about D&B Hoovers?

I may use D&B differently than other people. I use the search by SIC code functionality to find niche businesses that we could supply to within specific geographic regions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about D&B Hoovers?

I wish that there was a different payment plan. D&B is geared towards sales people who need specific contacts from a company. However as aforementioned, I use D&B for prospecting, and my list will often contain 3000 - 5000 results. I wish that I could download all those emails without using up all my credits, or that there was a different price model geared towards marketers rather than sales people. Also, it would be great if the information was more up to date and verified, because often the email addresses are outdated or wrong. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is D&B Hoovers solving and how is that benefiting you?

When we get a lead in a very niche industry that works out well for us (we are a Steel Processor & Tube Manufacturer) we can use D&B to find that company, look up their SIC code, and look up companies with similar SIC codes in target regions in order to pursue that industry further. What do you like best about D&B Hoovers?

D&B Hoovers is able to help immensely when doing a prospecting research regarding an industry or a company. You can set it up to give you updates on industries or companies you're following via it's triggers. D&B Hoovers also has the most up to date contact information for employees working at a company. I use it a couple of times a month. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy to use. There is no implementation period as you'll be searching through the database of D&B Hoovers. The lists and reports exported from D&B are easy to integrate to your presentations and research. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The research functionality can get complicated. There are many perimeters that can confuse first time starters. It's always a good idea to get help and some training from D&B Hoovers employees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

D&B Hoovers is solving the issue of accurate and up to date contact information for prospecting. When we search for contacts from different companies who we would like to work with and provide services to, it's important that we have access to accurate information regarding their contact points. In this regards, D&B Hoovers provide the most accurate and up to date information regarding the contact points in different companies and industries, in comparison to other prospecting tools in the market. This helps us in terms of minimizing the time we've to spend finding the right contact and helps us set up a meeting and initial contact point with them in a faster time frame. What do you like best about D&B Hoovers?

Generating target sales leads and downloading lists to excel. We also like how D&B Hoovers provides contacts including emails. The SIC and NAICS codes are helpful for researching leads as well along with revenue. We like how D&B Hoovers has a large repository of company profiles at hand. What do you dislike about D&B Hoovers?

Not all email addresses are provided nor accurate. Sometimes contacts are not accurate either. Some profile have limited marketability as well making it hard to find those profiles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is D&B Hoovers solving and how is that benefiting you?

I generate sales leads for my company and it is a very helpful for downloading lists of leads based on certain industries. I like how I can manipulate the data to fit certain criteria based on industry, revenue, SIC codes, geography, etc. I use it to look up contact names by profession/title. What do you like best about D&B Hoovers?

D&B Hoovers is an essential tool for our company to maintain accurate records and keep our data integrity. The various search functions, including the ability to search via map with pin drops, is very helpful when trying to find accounts for a specific region or trying to verify a specific location. What do you like best about D&B Hoovers?

I can quickly drill down into a company's personnel listings and find the people in the departments I need to communicate with. This allows me to skip the front desk receptionists who would otherwise try to screen my call. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about D&B Hoovers?

There was a bit of a learning curve in the beginning, but once I learned how to search (aided by a free teleconference with a D&B professional) I was able to fully utilize the database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Saving time and effort versus having to do the manual research.

We quickly pull large lists of contacts that we can add to our SMS and email marketing solutions. We can narrow by title, geography, and what type of contact information that's available for them. What do you like best about D&B Hoovers?

Searching to pre-scrubbed information. It's strictly businesses that you search through so that part is easier. There's a lot of filters, so that's nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about D&B Hoovers?

The demo was not really that representative how it'd go. Really should have a trial period of even just 1 or 2 days. Bomboro or whatever it's called seemed to be meaningless, yet was the selling point

Leads with filters for businesses

Benefits me to have the information in one location.

Problem is it didn't benefit me. I spent a lot of time trying to get data that I wanted, I ended up going back onto 2 different calls, and in the end I just needed to spend more time, you'll get the hang of it type response. You'd think with some professional help I'd have gotten off the phone with a list ready to load into my dialer. I already spent a good portion of the day trying to get what I was after with little results which defeats the purpose of paying $2,500 to make it easy and better.

When I go out, pick a couple towns, do a google search of the type of business I'm targeting, I have done better in just 2 hours of work to get the same number of calls and the bonus is, I'll have a little info about each contact to cold call with giving me better success rates. I thought having the bomboro data finding a business who has been shown to go out and be actively seeking information on a service I'm providing, then my success rates should naturally go up, start talking about the service and I'd expect more of an "oh, well what is it you do with x,y,z" They were as cold as any cold call I've done. Doing the google search I could at least start out, hey I saw your review of X, it looked great! I'd love to talk a little more about that and getting more x's... Something that could be done with D&B's list, but then what is the point of paying $2,500? I may not know the business has done a google search on my services, but that really has not seemed to give any iota of help. That was the thing that sold me. What do you like best about D&B Hoovers?

Hoovers are key in helping our teams navigate the complicated corporate hierarchy and ensuring we have the right account intelligence available to our sellers.

It is also vital for our ability to find more information about our accounts, including firmographic and contacts, though we also use D&B Connect for some of these use cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about D&B Hoovers?

The biggest issue with hoovers is the lack of showing DNB numbers that are out of business or no longer valid. It hurts our ability to understand our entire book of business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about D&B Hoovers?

This tool makes it much easier to find other people within an organization. Plus the inbox makes it easy to see previous messages going back as you want. We really like D&B Hoovers because we have benefited greantly from the tool with searching for past employers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don't like the inability to select many contacts at once extract a list of potential clients. It would also be nice if the link to the material would appear immediately without request more information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This tool allows me to start connecting to build a relationship of trust. Without trust ratings, you have nothing. Plus, email companigns are set up in a second. And transparency is powerful too!
