We began using CAKE in 2022 when our startup needed to bring in its first external fundraising and shareholders. We were looking for a solution to assist with tracking / maintaining a share register and also provide visuals of the cap table, company valuations over time, share prices, etc.. We were thrilled to find that CAKE provided all of it and more. We then watched as the CAKE team continued to build new features which we made use of. We've never needed to reach out to customer support in this time as we have found the portal quite intuitive. We also find that we access CAKE and manage the portfolio at least once per week especially the "communications" module to send shareholder updates.

The platform overall is great, and if we were to comment on negatives they would be mostly in the User Experience/graphical design and not the features themselves.

We find the Dashboard to be quite busy and we dont really use it.

Some of the pages are so busy that the choice of boxes/cards to display info can make the portal look overwhelming at times and requires digging around to find "where" to access certain features such as share transfers, etc.

Cake Equity has made managing our startup/scale-up's equity super simple. Their platform takes care of all the complicated stuff like tracking shares, managing and issuing options, and keeping investors in the loop, all in one place. It updates automatically in real-time, so we don’t have to worry about spreadsheets or compliance issues. It’s secure, easy to use, and saves us a ton of time.

What we love most is how Cake helps us offer ESOP options in a way that attracts and keeps great talent, while also creating a culture where everyone feels invested in the company’s success. The automated tools save us from doing manual work, and it makes communicating with the team about their equity so much easier. Over the years there has been some limitations in the platform, such as search functionality and reporting, but Cake are always looking at ways of improving and so much work has gone into the platform to make it super user friendly and all feedback is listened to and actioned whereever possible. It is constantly evolving and improving.

Unlike many platforms Cake provide in person help when and if needed which has been a deal breaker for sure. I'm a newbie to this side of the business and being honest had zero clue but the team at cake went i believe over and above helping to resolve or answer any question i had, always responding quickly to resolve. It takes everything hard and complex and makes it easy and simple.

We had an ESOP and a SAFE round and both were managed on Cake.

The ESOP had ten people with different deals, start times, finish times. The fact that it send them updates on the cliff annviserary and then for vesting is just great reassurance that they are earning some of the company value for their hard work.

The customer service is excellent. Great tools and content and if you ever get stuck, then they respond quickly with good support.

This is the simplest platform to use, it takes minutes to go from nothing to a fully working portal for employees to see their share certificates, vesting schedules, and the dollar value of the equity they have in our company.

We have a ton of employees in India so we manage them with Zoho People, an integration (with Zoho or Google Workspace) would make it slightly easier than uploading a CSV of new employees, but we do this once per year so not a huge issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
